“Melissa was an excellent sitter for our 2 cats. They really loved her and how she interacted with them, and we felt confident the entire time we were away that they were being cared for as we would care for them. We 100% recommend, and will definitely book Melissa again next time we need a sitter for our purr monsters.”

“Sydney signed up for what should have been a straightforward series of drop ins that ended up asking a lot of her when my kitten got sick the day before my trip. Sydney had to administer multiple medications and eye ointment as well as follow my usual feeding instructions. She did great and even covered an extra couple days when I had to immediately leave again to attend an unexpected funeral. Highly recommend!”

“Hillary did an awesome job checking in on my cats while we were away for a few days. They are both very shy, but she got them to come out the first day she fed them!”

“Jennifer has such a big heart and she truly truly loves your fur baby as much as you do. She went ABOVE AND BEYOND for my pup with bad depression anxiety. She gave me peace of mind knowing that my doggy was in such good hands. I will forever be grateful for Jennifer and could not recommend her enough!!”

About: I have had dogs since my childhood and have worked with breeds of different sizes and backgrounds, including some with special needs. In my home life, I have two cats that I adore and spend much of my free time with. I’m available all day on weekends, as well as from 5:30pm onward on weekdays (typically). If you have specific requirements for your animal let me know and we can create a schedule that works best for you! I can perform any specific needs that your pet may need. One of my own pets has special medical requirements, so I am familiar with taking care of animals that need extra care.
About: Animals have always been apart of my life in both big & small ways. Being able to care for other pets, is just an extension of me caring for my own. My goal is to make your pet(s) as comfortable, loved, and cared for as if you had never left. I pride myself in the small details & going above and beyond what is expected. ~ Experience with young puppies to senior dog, and diabetic dogs. Including giving insulin. ~ Extensive experience with cats including specialized medical needs. ~ Comfortable giving oral, topical, or injectable medications. MY BACKGROUND: At an early age while growing up on five acres in the country, I was often taking care of a variety of animals, including our dogs and many barn cats. I was a bit of a cat Momma, often times assisting with extra care like bottle feeding or treating illnesses as they came. Eventually I started taking care of our neighbors animals when they were away. Throughout childhood I had several special cats that became my indoor pets & my first adopted dog at the age of 13. After high school I worked at a stable. My ‘Cat Whisper’ abilities came in handy while here- tending to the cats & ensuring the kittens grew up & had a chance to be healthy, loved barn cats. As a young adult, I cared for my two indoor cats & my Boxer puppy - a dream come true. ADDITIONALLY: I have almost 10 years of experience as a CNA and have completed 1 year of nursing school. You can feel confident knowing that your pet is in capable hands. I’m currently working from home & homeschool my daughter, allowing my weekdays to be flexible. I’m also home most weekends. I’m available for house sitting, drop-in care, walks, and extended care. FOR THOSE LOOKING TO PLAN AHEAD… I have my Spring/ Summer 2027 currently unavailable as I don’t have enough information yet to determine my exact availability. If you have an upcoming trip you are planing and in need of care, or looking for reoccurring care during these dates, please message me directly to get priority booking as my availability opens. My goal is to make your pet(s) as comfortable, loved, and cared for as if you had never left, and to give you peace of mind while you’re away. I know that every family has a different way of caring for their pets. Therefore, I will work with you to find out how best to care for your animal by asking questions up front before I even step foot in your home. Communication is key. At the end of my visit, I will give you an overview of your pets time with me including sending pictures. If there’s anything else you’re looking for, just ask.
“We had a wonderful experience and felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were in such great hands. Communication was excellent, and it was clear our pups were well cared for and loved. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend Maggie!”

About: Every dog is unique, and my goal is to provide personalized, high-quality care that matches your dog’s specific routine, energy level, and health needs. Whether they need high-energy playtime or a calm, comforting presence, I treat every pet like family. I am entirely comfortable and experienced with dogs who need a little extra TLC or medical management. You can travel with peace of mind knowing I can handle: Medication Administration: Experienced with oral medications, supplements, and precise topical treatments. Injectables (Insulin): Comfortable and practiced with administering insulin for diabetic pets, maintaining strict adherence to their schedule. Basic Medical Needs: Skilled at monitoring senior dogs or pets recovering from minor procedures, keeping a close eye on their comfort and well-being. I worked from home 3 days a week and stay close to home most weekends. I can be available mornings and evenings. Midday visits may be a little more tricky during the weekend depending on your pets needs When caring for pets in a client's home, my top priorities are safety, strict adherence to instructions, and maintaining a secure environment. I am highly attentive to household security—constantly vigilant about watching doors and preventing any potential escapes. I follow your home and pet care routines exactly as requested to maintain consistency for your pet. Throughout my stay, I closely monitor your pet's well-being and will immediately report any changes in their behavior, health, or mood, ensuring you have total peace of mind while you're away
“Elizabeth was a life saver! She did such an amazing job with our dog who can be a bit of a handful! Very professional and cared for Stella like she was her own, I was really nervous leaving her with someone new for the first time and Elizabeth put our minds at ease. Can’t recommend her enough!”

About: I have been surrounded by and have taken care of dogs since getting my family’s two dogs when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Even since moving out, my family has relied on me to take care of them on vacations, extended work trips, etc. I now have two cats of my own, and love any opportunity to meet new animals. I am currently traveling the country, and looking to explore new places! I’ve found that pet-sitting is an excellent way to do so, with the side bonus of getting to meet new furry friends along the way! I am very intentional about adapting to each pet’s individual needs - whether they’re a fast friend or needs some space to figure me out first, my top priority is establishing trust with your fur baby. From there, I can ensure that I give them the proper love and care they deserve.
About: What sets me apart from other sitters is that I have been around animals my whole life. Whether it be my home, family, or friend’s homes. All of my life we have had a pet in the home. But I’ve been around anywhere from dogs and cats to birds, horses and bearded dragons! Ive also been around dogs that can be aggressive and territorial and I did well being patient and getting them to trust me. I have a pretty set schedule! I work Monday-Friday 6:30am-2:30pm. I tend to have free time on the weekends and during the week after work. I’ve always loved animals and have some of my own, plus going for walks is something I do already! I prefer to care for pets in the owners home since that is where they are comfortable and have their own things. It is a priority for me to keep the animal on their usual routine and keep them happy and comfortable.
About: I have taken care of dogs for 4 years and have many dogs my self, small and large. I have taken care of all of them as puppies and now adult dogs. I am currently working part time and going to school. But I’m at home at nights where I can watch your pet. I have a doggy door that your pups can go in and out of freely. I have a fenced in backyard and my puppies love it. I have a very energetic house hold with my dogs and they have toys upon toys.

About: I grew up around animals and have 2 spoiled, adorable cats myself. I also have experience pet sitting for friends and family as well as dog walking. I work full time, but have flexible lunch breaks, evenings, and weekends. I am very active, so I would love to take your dogs for a walk, hike, or run. I am also free to stay occasional overnights if needed. Since my cats' security is my priority, I will not be able to host your pets in my home. However, I would love to spend time with them in their own space and can keep them company for evenings, weekends, and overnights.
About: I have 2 dogs of my own. Also I have experience with older dogs and puppies. I love all animals! I'm not scared of much either! I currently work part time. So I'm pretty open. Tuesdays and every other Sunday I'm available afternoon. That could potentially change if more work comes in. I care for my pets by taking them to the dog park twice a week making sure they have food and water. Also making sure they are utd on their shots. For taking care of your pet tho that would go off of how you would want me to take care of your animals. You are the owner. I'm just there to help you out and take care of your animals.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Dayton
We had Kate do several drop in visits while we were out of town. She was very responsive, took great care of our 2 cats, and even brought some Christmas treats for them after confirming they were allowed to have them. We would definitely book with Kate in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 731 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Dayton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dayton. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
