About: My love of dogs started when I rescued my first dog. Since then, I have acquired a load of knowledge not only in how to care for them, but also how to train them. I can provide mental and physical stimulation for your furry friend and bring most of my own equipment - I can also use the tools your pet is most familiar with. I can assess your pet to determine what your pet may need for stimulation, make suggestions for daily care, and learn at least some of their body language. My dogs and I are always interacting whenever I'm home, but most of our intentional fun/training happens outdoors daily. This includes both training and walking. I also help some of my friends train their dogs whenever our schedules allow. I believe your dog should ALWAYS be in training and you can make almost any situation a training opportunity. Your pets can be treated as my own and/or according to your specific instructions. Do you have multiple dogs that need to be separated? No problem. Can your dogs be together but need to be supervised so tension doesn't continue to build? I got you covered there too! Does your dog pull too much on walks, need to learn how to act in-doors? I can work with your dog on those things as well in addition to other things!
“I can’t thank Sophia enough for taking care of our babies! She was available at the last minute. Was so flexible and loving and kind. We were gone all day. She stopped in for 2 visits. Sent us pictures and communicated with me throughout the visit. When we got home both our dogs were so very calm and not distressed at all! Thank you thank you thank you!! If we weren’t visiting from out of town we would DEFINITELY be your repeat clients 100 %!!!”

About: I’ve lived in a few different houses in my life, all full of pets! Currently I have seven in my home and I apply constant care to 2 of them! I’ve trained all of my dogs over the years to do tricks, and have some fun techniques for it now! I’m always up for elderly animal care as well, as I have lived with and cared for a handful of elderly dogs and cats in my time! I think my nurturing and love for animals sets me apart as well as my experience with so many of these pets! I’m currently a student at Longwood university! I will have lots of time after classes or on days off for plenty of pet care! I can’t work Sunday’s as I have to care for my grandmother, but I get out of school most afternoons with plenty of extra time for pet care! I care very attentively for pets in my home and others’ homes! I love taking my dogs for a walk, we have a fenced in yard as well, but I’m fine just walking them if no fence is present! I try to keep them company and play with them as much as I’m allowed, and of course would work to make sure I don’t stray from their comfort zone as I know sometimes animals can be upset at certain triggers!
About: I have taken care of all kinds of pets, from horses to kittens. I have recently completed a Red Cross course in dog and cat first aid. Providing quality care to meet your pets’ specific needs is my goal. My flexible routine allows me to provide pet care through out the week. Whether it’s a quick check in or a long walk, I’ll be there. Your home deserves to be respected. I can be trusted to treat your home as gently as I treat your pet. Your home will be left the same as it was when I arrived.
About: I have been taking care of my own dogs since I was young and love to be around all animals! I used to nanny for a family with 5 kids and they had a wonderful dog that I always helped to care for! Feeding and taking him to the groomers and vet appointments…all things that I was lucky to get to help with! I also used to care for 2 cats (both needing to take medication) and a bull dog on a daily basis! I have a Jack Russell (that just passed away) myself that I had for about 10+ years and no kids do she was my only fur baby! I have recently in the past year gotten a brand new puppy named Sugar! She is a beagle/terrier/lab mix and 25 pounds of Adorableness! She is so sweet And absolutely my little girl, as she follows me everywhere and tries to be wherever I am, and always under foot!!! She’s a little skittish and still all puppy at eight months! So I am no stranger to puppy needs at all! I also have Bella, who is a pit/beagle mix and she is a little over a year and a half old! She is 60 pounds of crazy but happy and smart and always at my husband side! What a love bug! But remember, with pets, there is no personal space! Lol I love pets of all kinds and will care for them as if they were my own! Snuggles are free!!! I am currently a part-time private nanny, to a bunch of different families who may need care for their little ones day a week, and my schedule is always changing from week to week so my availability will always be changing. But,I will try to keep my Rover calendar up-to-date as I hope more of you reach out! The plan is is turn this into a full-time gig so I will have probably more availability as time goes on towards the end of this year, but I’m hoping to find some regular clients that will book with me on a consistent basis! Plus, I’m really looking forward to all the pet snuggles! I am always very mindful of the time for feedings and walks…any medication will be given correctly and timely…I will make sure your home is locked up after I leave from a walk and/or feeding! Please know that I will do my best to. Gain the trust of the animal! Cats too! I do highly recommend a meet & greet ahead of time so we can meet pet parents and also meet dog(s)! Let’s them see me and hopefully remember me and feel comfortable with me in their house! (*Please note: House Sitting rates apply to stays where overnight accommodations (a clean bed/space) are provided in your home. If you prefer daytime/evening visits only without overnight stays, please book via my Drop-In rates!)

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life. I have over 5 years of experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities, including my own pets and my professional experience as a kennel attendant at a pet daycare. I’m experienced with walks, feeding routines, baths, medication, and providing care for pets with different needs and temperaments. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I take the time to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. My goal is to give your pet the same attention, patience, and love I would give my own. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets the time and attention they deserve. I plan my days around making sure each pet gets proper care, playtime, walks, and check-ins without feeling rushed. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I focus on keeping them safe, comfortable, and following their normal routine so they feel relaxed while their owner is away. I pay attention to their behavior, needs, and any instructions provided to make sure they receive the best care possible.
About: I've had dogs since I can remember. My fiancé watched dogs in the past with rover and I would always help. Take the dogs to the park on my days off, play outside, and train them when needed. I am currently on veterans disability so I can focus my whole day to your furry friend. No worry about being stuck in all day. I have 5 acres of yard for them to play on. I have lots of space if needed, room for crates, room outside. Plenty of space so your furry friend won't feel trapped. My animals mind their own.
About: With three years of experience in animal welfare with time spent at CASPCA, RSPCA and RAL, I’ve had the joy of working with all kinds of dogs and kitties and getting to know the wonderful families who love them. My passion for animal care has only grown, and I’m always looking for new ways to continue doing what I love most: helping pets feel happy, safe, loved, and cared for like family. Whether your pup needs a fun walk, some extra attention while you’re away, or simply a little companionship during the day, I’m here to provide the personalized care, patience, and love they deserve. I know how much our pets mean to us, and I treat every dog I care for as if they were my own. My goal is to give you peace of mind while making sure your furry family member gets plenty of exercise, enrichment, cuddles, and tail-wagging adventures! 🐕✨ Because happy pets = happy families! 🐾 I’m daily caring for my five at home cats as well as my two resident dogs. My availability is currently very open so I'm looking for ways to continue helping families and their pets! Whatever that may be. I love shedules and appreciate them myself when I am leaving my pets with sitters. Your needs are my top priorities. I have a lot of experience with medication administration, behavioral concerns, and training needs. I want to make sure the pets and people are totally comfortable.

About: Hi! My husband and I own a farm in Amelia, VA with horses, sheep, chickens, and our cats and dogs. I have two rescue dogs of my own and am a complete animal lover. I work in the agriculture sector with a flexible schedule and my husband works from home full time. My schedule allows me to be home with your pets as often as they need. I have been house sitting for over 15 years and absolutely love being able to love other people’s pets like my own! My house also has a fenced in yard, and is great if your pets want to come stay with me as well. I have experience with dogs, cats, most exotic pets, horses, and any barnyard animal you could think of. We are also very experienced in senior care, and often foster for our local shelter so are used to a lot of different behaviors and dog personalities. I am available for pet sitting and farm sitting. I am looking forward to hearing from you! I have a flexible work schedule and my office is less than a mile from my home, so I can stop in often. My husband is also very experienced in animal care and works from home full time. Our dogs spend most of their day snoozing with my husband while he works. They go on 3-4 walks per day and have a fenced yard to run around. Guest dogs are treated like our own! Drop in clients can expect their dogs to be loved on and cared for as desired for 30-60 minutes per drop in.

About: Hi! My name is Doris, and I truly enjoy caring for animals and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I understand that pets are family, so I treat every dog with the same patience, attention, and kindness I would give my own. I was the proud dog mom of a Miniature Pinscher named Penny, and I adored her like family. Caring for her was a meaningful part of my daily life. Every Sunday, I prepared her fresh meals—meal-prepping wet food to mix with her dry kibble to ensure a balanced and enjoyable diet. I built my routine around her needs, including walks before leaving home and as soon as I returned, along with consistent activity throughout the day to keep her happy and engaged. I personally trained her, and she was crate-trained, comfortably settling in at night. She knew a variety of commands, including roll over, paw, other paw, along with all basic obedience cues. During the time I wasn’t actively caring for Penny, I invested in learning more about dog behavior by reading books and educating myself on different breeds, temperaments, and training approaches. This allows me to adapt my care style to meet each dog’s unique needs. I’m also an aunt to a husky named Rocky and a terrier mix named Marty, so I’m familiar with varying energy levels and personalities. Whether your dog is high-energy, routine-driven, or more relaxed, I adjust my approach to ensure they feel comfortable and understood. I provide a safe, calm, and clean environment and only accept pets from one family at a time to ensure focused, attentive care. I am very mindful of each pet’s routine—whether that includes specific feeding schedules, multiple walks per day, medication, or limits on how long they can be left alone. I maintain a structured schedule and am typically available before and after work, as well as on weekends. With advance notice, I can accommodate more involved care needs. My goal is to provide consistency so your pet feels at ease and at home. I also believe communication is key, so I provide regular updates, photos, and videos to keep you connected and reassured while your pet is in my care. My goal is always to create a calm, safe, and loving environment where pets feel comfortable, cared for, and genuinely happy. 🐾 Pet care is something I intentionally plan around and prioritize in my daily routine. I tailor my care based on each dog’s specific needs—such as the minimum number of walks per day, how long they can be left alone, and whether they require medication at set times. I’m typically home in the evenings and fully available on weekends. With at least two weeks’ notice, I can also request time off for bookings that require more daytime attention. When I do step out, it’s usually for short periods (5 hours or less), and I return home for the remainder of the day aside from occasional errands. I genuinely enjoy being active and spending time with animals, so I make it a point each day to incorporate walks, playtime, feeding, and quality one-on-one attention. My goal is always to ensure pets feel safe, happy, and comfortable while their owners are away. I also make it a standard practice to send regular updates, including photos and videos, so you can feel connected and at ease while your pet is in my care. In terms of availability, I maintain a structured schedule and am typically available before and after work, as well as on weekends. If your pet has specific timing needs, I’m happy to discuss and accommodate when possible. For bookings that require a higher level of care—such as frequent walks (e.g., every 2 hours) or detailed routines—I kindly ask for at least two weeks’ notice. A meet and greet 2–3 weeks prior to the scheduled stay is strongly preferred to ensure I can fully prepare and provide the best experience for your pet. My priority is always your pet’s safety, wellbeing, and making them feel as relaxed and at home as possible. 🐾 I provide a safe, calm, and clean environment for every pet in my care. To ensure the highest level of attention and safety, I only accept pets from one family at a time. This allows me to maintain a clean space and give your pup(s) my full focus, especially since managing interactions between unfamiliar dogs can require extra supervision and quick response in case of emergencies. When pets come from the same household, I’m able to rely on the dog parents’ insight into their behavior and routines, which helps me provide more personalized care from the start. I live in an apartment with a secure balcony, a dog park, and a safe, walkable neighborhood with night lighting for added visibility during walks. The building also has secured cameras at the entrance for an extra layer of safety. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I ensure pets are always supervised, comfortable, and following their usual routines for feeding, exercise, and rest.

About: What sets me apart from all sitters is my deep depth for all animals. As a child, I have always developed a love for animals. My love and compassion for animals spilled over into the education field working with students with special needs. Presently, I have four rescue cats, two classroom guinea pigs, and four dogs, one of which is a rescue. I volunteer with my country's animal shelter, and I have fostered and saved many animals. My love for critters is endless. I am a teacher, so teachers do not work in the summer. However, I do work teaching summer school and a camp in June. I can work evenings and remain overnight. I have the entire month of July off. My children are grown, so my schedule is flexible. I can provide references. I live in a secluded area, so when I am home, they have free range. My dogs are leash trained. During the day when I am home, they remain in a crate. I live six minutes from work, so they arent in their crates all day. My oldest daughter lives with me, so when I am away, they are taken care of.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
