About: My love of dogs started about 5 years ago when I rescued my first dog. Since then, I have acquired a load of knowledge not only in how to care for them, but also how to train them. I can provide mental and physical stimulation for your furry friend and bring most of my own equipment - I can also use the tools your pet is most familiar with. I can assess your pet to determine what your pet may need for stimulation, make suggestions for daily care, and learn at least some of their body language. My dogs and I are always interacting whenever I'm home, but most of our intentional fun/training happens for about 2-3 hours each day outdoors. This includes both training and walking. I also help some of my friends train their dogs whenever our schedules allow. I believe your dog should ALWAYS be in training and you can make almost any situation a training opportunity. Your pets can be treated as my own and/or according to your specific instructions. Do you have multiple dogs that need to be separated? No problem. Can your dogs be together but need to be supervised so tension doesn't continue to build? I got you covered there too! Does your dog pull too much on walks, need to learn how to act in-doors? I can work with your dog on those things as well in addition to other things!

“Sophia was wonderful. I was in town for a week for work and needed someone to walk my dog during the days. She met us at the hotel the evening that we checked in to give my pup a chance to get used to her. She came each day, was very responsive, took great care of the dog, and sent plenty of updates about each walk.”

About: I’ve lived in a few different houses in my life, all full of pets! Currently I have seven in my home and I apply constant care to 2 of them! I’ve trained all of my dogs over the years to do tricks, and have some fun techniques for it now! I’m always up for elderly animal care as well, as I have lived with and cared for a handful of elderly dogs and cats in my time! I think my nurturing and love for animals sets me apart as well as my experience with so many of these pets! I’m currently a student at Longwood university! I will have lots of time after classes or on days off for plenty of pet care! I can’t work Sunday’s as I have to care for my grandmother, but I get out of school most afternoons with plenty of extra time for pet care! I care very attentively for pets in my home and others’ homes! I love taking my dogs for a walk, we have a fenced in yard as well, but I’m fine just walking them if no fence is present! I try to keep them company and play with them as much as I’m allowed, and of course would work to make sure I don’t stray from their comfort zone as I know sometimes animals can be upset at certain triggers!

I have lots of space if needed, room for crates, room outside. Plenty of space so your furry friend won't feel trapped. My animals mind their own.

About: Hi! My husband and I own a farm in Amelia, VA with horses, sheep, chickens, and our cats and dogs. I have two rescue dogs of my own and am a complete animal lover. I work in the agriculture sector with a flexible schedule and my husband works from home full time. My schedule allows me to be home with your pets as often as they need. I have been house sitting for over 15 years and absolutely love being able to love other people’s pets like my own! My house also has a fenced in yard, and is great if your pets want to come stay with me as well. I have experience with dogs, cats, most exotic pets, horses, and any barnyard animal you could think of. We are also very experienced in senior care, and often foster for our local shelter so are used to a lot of different behaviors and dog personalities. I am available for pet sitting and farm sitting. I am looking forward to hearing from you! I have a flexible work schedule and my office is less than a mile from my home, so I can stop in often. My husband is also very experienced in animal care and works from home full time. Our dogs spend most of their day snoozing with my husband while he works. They go on 3-4 walks per day and have a fenced yard to run around. Guest dogs are treated like our own! Drop in clients can expect their dogs to be loved on and cared for as desired for 30-60 minutes per drop in.

About: Mom and daughter pet care!! We provide personalized, attentive care tailored to your pet’s needs. Whether it’s calming companionship for anxious pets, playtime for energetic puppies, or gentle care for seniors, we ensure every pet feels safe and loved. Our experience with medication administration, basic training, and maintaining routines sets us apart. We treat every pet as if they were our own, giving you peace of mind while you're away. When I’m away at UNC Chapel Hill, my mom runs the business so our clients experience the same reliable, loving care. My mom is a retired teacher who adores animals and has been hands-on with many of our bookings. We always communicate clearly about who will be caring for your pet — and we treat every pet like family. This reassures clients nothing changes except availability improves. As a college pre-med student with a passion for pets, I balance my studies with caring for animals, ensuring they receive the attention and care they deserve. Our approach is always flexible, offering a combination of love, safety, and reliability.

About: Growing up my family always had at least one or more pets of various breeds so I have 20+ years of experience around animals. I have cared for dogs, cats, fish, lizards, rabbits, goats, and hedgehogs. Personally, my husband & I have 2 dogs currently, 9 & 10 years old, one having epilepsy & is dependent on medication. I have helped raise/care for/train puppies, kittens, baby rabbits, & baby goats. The only pet I'm not comfortable with is snakes, my little sister has one but I only look at it from 3ft away in its enclosure, haha. I work part time Tu/W/Th 8A - 5P, I do not mind caring for pets those days, however I will be gone all day. Otherwise, I'm available for your pets needs! My personal routine with my pets: My husband helps me care for our pets daily but his schedule is a bit different than mine, so our dogs are let out at least within 4-6 hours those days. Otherwise, we let them out every 2-4 depending on their needs (which they have been trained to lets us know if they need to go sooner). Our medical dog is on a 12 hr medication schedule. I'd prefer to care in my clients home due to one of my dogs having a reactive past, it was quite a transition when we inherited our other dog. If you have a specific routine, I'm ready to follow it to the T! I'm comfortable walking dogs on leash, hanging out/playing with them in a fenced yard, or just chilling inside. As mentioned, I have experience with medically dependent pets. I have an escape artist, so I'm always vigilant of their proximity to me and prepared to run/chase in the event something happens. I can stay at the home with the pets or I can visit throughout the day!
About: I have been taking care of my own dogs since I was young and love to be around all animals! I used to nanny for a family with 5 kids and they had a wonderful dog that I always helped to care for! Feeding and taking him to the groomers and vet appointments…all things that I was lucky to get to help with! I also used to care for 2 cats (both needing to take medication) and a bull dog on a daily basis! I have a Jack Russell (that just passed away) myself that I had for about 10+ years and no kids do she was my only fur baby! I have recently in the past year gotten a brand new puppy named Sugar! She is a beagle/terrier/lab mix and 25 pounds of Adorableness! She is so sweet And absolutely my little girl, as she follows me everywhere and tries to be wherever I am, and always under foot!!! She’s a little skittish and still all puppy at eight months! So I am no stranger to puppy needs at all! I also have Bella, who is a pit/beagle mix and she is a little over a year and a half old! She is 60 pounds of crazy but happy and smart and always at my husband side! What a love bug! But remember, with pets, there is no personal space! Lol I love pets of all kinds and will care for them as if they were my own! Snuggles are free!!! I am currently a part-time private nanny, to a bunch of different families who may need care for their little ones day a week, and my schedule is always changing from week to week! This is a little niche that I found that nobody was able to fill, and I wanted to dedicate my career to helping those families who only need four hours a day one day a week and that doesn’t necessarily need to be the same day. As my schedules always changing, my availability will always be changing so I will try to keep that up-to-date as I hope more of you reach out! I’m really looking forward to all the snuggles! I am always very mindful of the time for feedings and walks…any medication will be given correctly and timely…I will make sure your home is locked up after I leave from a walk and/or feeding! Please know that I will do my best to. Gain the trust of the animal! Cats too!
About: What sets me apart from all sitters is my deep depth for all animals. As a child, I have always developed a love for animals. My love and compassion for animals spilled over into the education field working with students with special needs. Presently, I have four rescue cats, two classroom guinea pigs, and four dogs, one of which is a rescue. I volunteer with my country's animal shelter, and I have fostered and saved many animals. My love for critters is endless. I am a teacher, so teachers do not work in the summer. However, I do work teaching summer school and a camp in June. I can work evenings and remain overnight. I have the entire month of July off. My children are grown, so my schedule is flexible. I can provide references. I live in a secluded area, so when I am home, they have free range. My dogs are leash trained. During the day when I am home, they remain in a crate. I live six minutes from work, so they arent in their crates all day. My oldest daughter lives with me, so when I am away, they are taken care of.
About: Friendly sitter with experience with senior pups, cats and chickens. I currently have two wonderful dogs and a handful of chickens. One of our dogs is what we believe is a Foxhound and the other is a Shepherd mix. Both are rescues so we are not sure. I also have experience with cats, parrots (green crowned conure) and various farm animals. Update: I no longer work from home. I am now in Richmond M-F, 8-5. I am happy to stop by during my lunch break to check on your babies in the city. Any other surrounding areas would have to be weekends and not during work hours. Apologies for any inconvenience! I am happy to stop by your home and care for your pets. One of my pups is reactive and we do not want to make her (or your baby) uncomfortable by bringing other pets into our space.
About: I have had a variety of animals my whole life! I absolutely love being around animals and spending time with them. I have taken care of dogs of all ages, all the way from newborn to seniors! I am available on weekdays only. I do work a breakfast shift (5am-11am) Wednesday to Saturday. However, I am available the rest of the day! I will have plenty of time to tend to your animals and take care of their needs. I have a very large unfenced yard that would be great for leashed activities like walking and going potty. I also have a fenced area that’s perfect for some unleashed outdoor time. I would keep any pets inside most of the time to ensure safety while I am with them. I do have a crate that I could keep your pet in while I am at work (if your baby is crate trained). All animals are allowed to roam the house and sleep in the bed if that’s allowed at home!

About: I have over 5 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs in structured, multi-dog environments, including high-energy and working breeds. I currently manage a multi-dog household and am actively involved in dog sports and conformation, which has given me a strong understanding of routine, behavior, conditioning, and proper handling. I am comfortable working with: • High-energy and active breeds • Puppies needing structure and consistency • Senior and special needs dogs • Multi-dog households • Dogs requiring medication My care style focuses on structure, safety, and clear communication. Dogs in my care receive consistent routines, appropriate exercise, and calm, confident handling—not just supervision. I am best suited for clients who value reliable, knowledgeable care and want their dogs maintained in a structured environment while they are away. Pet care is a consistent and structured part of my daily routine. I plan my schedule around the dogs in my care to ensure they receive timely walks, feeding, exercise, and attention. I maintain reliable availability for bookings while ensuring each dog receives focused, individualized care and a consistent routine. Dogs are always handled securely on leash unless otherwise specified, and I am attentive to environment, behavior, and stress signals. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
