“Michele is an absolute dream! My husband and I booked her for a weekend to watch our senior Basset Hound, Lady, and she made us (and Lady) feel SO at ease. Lady is older and needs medication, so we're always nervous leaving her with other people, but Michele really did such an amazing job with her. She sent us tons of updates throughout the weekend—photos, detailed reports on how everything was going, etc. We felt very comfortable knowing Lady was in such good hands. Michele even went as far as keeping the exact (quite detailed lol) routine we have for Lady and accepted all her quirks with open arms. She really went above and beyond for us. If you're looking for someone who will love your dog as much as you do while you're away, book Michele!”

“Alyssa is great! My pets and home were well cared for. My dog gets pretty anxious when I go out of town but he seemed very calm and relaxed when I came back. He seemed like he had a great time with Alyssa!”

“Elisha was great. She wasn't intimidated by Arlo's epilepsy which was a huge relief to me. She seemed immediately at ease with the boys and they with her. When I got home my dogs were calm, happy and not anxious so I could tell that they were indeed comfortable with her. I will definitely book with Elisha again.”

“Emily was so great with our senior dog Willow! She house sat her for the weekend and did a fantastic job. She communicated clearly about everything, sent photos, and most importantly was able to give Willow the twice daily insulin shots she needs. I highly recommend working with Emily!”
“Sophie took wonderful care of our two kittens while we were away on a long trip. Since it was our first time using a sitter, we were pretty nervous but she was very communicative and attentive which gave us so much peace of mind. We could tell that she was going above and beyond to make sure they had lots of love and attention. When we came home, it was clear they had been well cared for—happy, healthy, and content. We’re so grateful and would love for Sophie to watch our girls again sometime.”

About: Hi! My name is Andrea. I have lived in the Hudson Valley for almost 4 years now, and have been working in the area off and on since 2014. I live with my partner, Mike, and precious pup Kona. I have always lived with dogs. And recently, have been thinking about getting a cat! I am an Occupational Therapist in a school district full time and love to farm and bicycle during my off time. I’ve done house sitting and dog sitting previously and enjoyed the work. I have my own vehicle and am used to commuting around the Hudson Valley for work and for fun. I wanted to get back into dog sitting and pet sitting to assist in getting a new car and to get to spend time with pets! I have always been obsessed with dogs! I show that through meeting as many as I can when out in the community :). I am active person, so long walks and playing is something I can provide. I am open to any requests you might have and am great at keeping in touch with pet parents. I can always be available through text, call, or email. I’m so excited to meet you and your lovely pets!! I have a full time job, so weekends are my only availability. However, I am open to discuss any special circumstances! I might potentially be more available on a long weekend, when I am off from my school based job. I would want to care for your pets as you would or how you would want. I am great with a schedule and specific requests.
About: I've been taking care of dogs since I was five years old and continued to get more dogs. I have dog sat for multiple friends and family rating from dogs and cats. As far as training animals, I did grow up with having to train them so I do have some experience. I am currently working part time and go to community college but will be able to manage and work out a schedule that will be accommodating. I have 3 dogs that have invisible fences outside so they can roam free without getting lost, going to the road, running off. I have a big yard surrounding my house so they are used to running around freely. When it gets too cold they come in to the house or garage with my father. I am used to walking dogs as they do get walked on occasion at home or if we have them out of the house. I do not off offer services that welcome pets into my house but I am accommodating as necessary and will offer services at your residency.
“Arsen and Sophia did a great job. They communicated well, sent funny pics and we returned to a calm dog who clearly liked them and was sad to see them leave. House was clean. Would hire them again anytime.”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Katherine caring for our two cats. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative, thoughtful, and reliable. She kept us updated consistently with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It’s clear she’s both experienced and genuinely caring - our cats felt comfortable with her right away. She was attentive to their routines and gave them lots of playtime and love. We came home to two very happy, relaxed cats and a house that was just as we left it. We felt confident the entire time that they were in safe, capable hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great sitter!”

“From the moment that I met Emily, I understood that her relationships with animals are deeply reciprocal. She is a patient and caring friend and enjoys the love that they offer in return. Emily stayed with my senior Boxer for 10 days at my home. She was a conscientious sitter -- taking perfect care of my home and of my pet. Knuckie typically experiences a few days of depression and hives when I leave but with Emily he was in good spirits, eating and in his normal routine. Honestly, he looked fantastic when I returned -- like he'd had a week at a spa. Emily's communication was perfect and she even went above and beyond to have a food order for us when our late flight arrived! I give Emily my highest recommendation!”

“Alannah was great with Cornelius! She was prompt in her response on availability and coming to meet us. She projects a calm and natural energy with dogs! Cornelius loved her and so did we and we will not hesitate to book her again!!💕”

About: Now that I have graduated college and I am living back home! I have a lot of time to do one of my favorite things which is to care for animals! I have experience rescuing dogs and giving them loving homes. In the past I have trained with a dog trainer to get a better sense on how to better work with dogs. I am an early bird, I usually start my days at 5:30! I make sure to get some exercise and take a morning walks. I have a very strong ritual of waking up early and being active. I usually take the afternoons to read and prepare my applications for JD/PHD programs. In between these two things in my schedule, I have a lot of free time that I would love to spend with your pets! I also do not mind traveling to different boroughs if needed!! In my own home, I have a very large living room space, which gives pets spaces to stretch, lay out, play and or explore. In clients home I always make sure to know what boundaries/ areas are off limits for the pets and respect that.

“Sofia was very communicative throughout the day and kept us updated, which gave us peace of mind. Most importantly, she got along really well with our dog, and he seemed very comfortable and happy with her. We would definitely recommend her!”

“Brenna was an amazing pet sitter for us. We have two dogs, both seniors, and one with significant health issues. It is always hard to leave him but had our son's wedding in Canada to attend. Brenna sent constant updates and photos to ease our mind while away. They were very well cared for and loved. I would use Brenna again in a heart beat!”

“Rochelle is a wonderful sitter and I'm so grateful to have found her to watch my dog Gogo. I've hired Rochelle for both short and long-term stays and she is my most entrusted sitter. Dedicated, responsible, caring, and experienced.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Columbiaville
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 579 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Columbiaville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Columbiaville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Columbiaville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Columbiaville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Columbiaville. On Rover:

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
