Jacob was kind and quick to help us when we had to leave town for a family emergency. Our 4 dogs liked him and received excellent care while we were gone. We enjoyed the pictures and video he sent to us while we were away. Thanks so much for your excellent care we won’t hesitant to use Jacob again.

We usually have family take care of our dogs but being new to the area, we no longer have that option. We weren’t comfortable with leaving our dogs in a kennel so we found Laura. Not only was she affordable, but she came to our place so our dogs can stay where they are comfortable. Laura was great and we loved the updates and pictures. She was even able to accommodate another night stay when we decided to wait a day to come home. Will definitely be using her services again in the future.

We couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter! From the moment we met Cindy, we felt confident that our pets would be in great hands, and she exceeded every expectation. Leaving our animals is never easy, especially with a puppy who struggles with separation anxiety and a cat who absolutely adores his people. Knowing that she was here with them gave us such incredible peace of mind while we were away. She was patient, attentive, and genuinely caring with each of our pets, taking the time to understand their individual personalities and needs. When we returned home, our dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for, and our cat was his usual affectionate self. It was obvious that they received plenty of love, attention, and companionship while we were gone. The updates and communication throughout our trip were wonderful and helped us feel connected to our pack even from a distance. It is such a gift to find someone you can trust with your furry family members, and we are so grateful for the care Cindy provided. We would absolutely book with Cindy again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, reliable, and trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Watson, Merlin, and Ainsworth!

Brittany was awesome for us and our two pups (one of whom is a bit slow to warm up to new people). Brittany was able to take care of our dogs exactly how they’re used to and was very communicative with us while we were away with messages and pictures! She even toughed out a big snowfall and made sure our pups were all set throughout it. Brittany treated our home with great respect and left things very neat, clean, and tidy. We will definitely be calling her when we need a sitter next!

Allie is absolutely heaven sent! From the moment she started watching my pugs during our wedding weekend, she went so far above and beyond anything I could have imagined. Not only did she take incredible care of the dogs, giving them so much love and attention but she also helped in ways that went beyond pet sitting. She sent me detailed updates and made the sweetest video montage of the pugs that truly melted my heart. She cleaned up, took out the garbage, and made sure everything was spotless when we got home. Most importantly, she treated my boys like her own, and they absolutely adored her. Leaving my pugs for the first time during such a big weekend made me anxious, but Allie’s kindness, communication, and care completely put me at ease. Because of her, I was able to enjoy my wedding stress-free knowing they were safe, happy, and loved. Allie, thank you so much, you’re one of a kind, and I’m so grateful for you! 💛🐾

About: I’ve had pets for as long as I can remember, from bunnies, turtles, fish, dogs and a cat! I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 10 years old, and have a deep love and understanding of them. My childhood dog was very reactive because of abuse, so I know to handle an anxious and stressed puppers very well! I also had an older cat for a couple of years, and am regularly watching my friends’ and neighbors’ cats! Pet care fits very naturally into my weekly routine. I work part-time in the mornings, which allows me to dedicate my afternoons and evenings to caring for pets. I am available for pet sitting, walks, drop-in visits, and overnight care from 3:00 PM onward any day of the week. I enjoy spending my free time with animals and make it a priority to provide them with attention, exercise, companionship, and a consistent routine while their owners are away. When caring for pets in your home, I will focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you're away. I follow all feeding, exercise, medication, and care instructions carefully, and I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship. I keep water bowls fresh, clean up after pets, and ensure their environment stays safe and tidy. For dogs, I provide walks and exercise appropriate to their energy level, and for all pets, I pay close attention to their behavior and well-being. I will also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pets are happy and well cared for.

About: i’ve always had a passion for animals. i try to make sure all animals are happy and loved by me especially when taking care of them. i never want an animal to feel sad or alone and it pains me to see all these stray cats and dogs around knowing that i can’t take them all in. I recently graduated from Coastal Carolina from the veterinary assistant program, i plan on fulfilling my dreams on becoming a veterinarian and hopefully one day i can save the lives of animals. I will give them lots of attention, i will try to play with the pets. i will give them lots of cuddles and affection and overall make sure they know they are loved.

Maddy was amazing. Our original sitter had to cancel last minute due to a family emergency, leaving me scrambling to find someone to watch our fur babies while we were on vacation. Within 24 hours she came by for a visit to meet the pets and she was so good with them. She kept me updated while we were away and she went above and beyond while she was here. 10/10 will hire her again

About: I have always had dogs growing up and have had cats the last 2 years. They are family and I love yours the way I love mine. I’m available 24/7 for ALL of your pet care needs. I know that every pet is different and requires special care. It is not a one size fits all. I prefer pet sitting at your home because it is more comfortable and convenient for your pet. They already have to get used to a new person I don’t like to add stress by putting them somewhere unfamiliar to them.

About: Hey everyone! I have been around dogs and cats my entire life! We have many pets around our place and I am the one who takes care of them all. I also breed dogs and so am very comfortable taking care of pregnant mommas as well as puppies. I can match any dog or cat's energy so no matter if they're young and playful or elderly and laidback I am able to adapt as necessary! I currently work two jobs so I am only able to do pet care on certain days. I am able to dog sit on Monday and Tuesday nights. I can walk your dog or cat any time Mondays or Tuesdays, after 9am Wednesdays, and after 12noon on Fridays and Saturdays. Any other times might work but no guarantee. I do not offer pet care at my home but am willing to pet sit at the owners home. I will do my best to take care of your pet exactly as you would! If you have any questions or concerns I will try to answer to the best of my ability!

FAQs for House Sitting - Chinquapin

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 356 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chinquapin. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chinquapin walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chinquapin maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chinquapin choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chinquapin. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
