About: I have two dogs of my own. My older dog, Ive raised from puppy to dog and give oral meds to him daily. My younger dog, I took over caring for from my parents but he is the best addition to my home. I have cared for dogs in the past for my parents, friends and others dog owners when they go out of town. I am experienced with all dog types and would love to meet your pet! I love to get outside with my dogs after work, either playing fetch or eating bubbles! I would love to do the same with your pets. I have watched both peoples houses and pets while they have been on vacation so you don't need to worry about either when you are away from your pets. I can also take care of any house plants and other types of pets as well!
“Theresa was a godsend during a very difficult time for me and my husband. On a very short notice she was able to stop in and feed and cuddle my 2 very needy Italian greyhounds while I traveled back and forth to an out of state hospital to see my husband while he was gravely ill. I could tell that she really gave my fur babies the attention they needed because when I came home each night they weren’t frantic like the days before I reached out to Theresa for help. I will definitely be asking Theresa for help again soon.”
“I can’t recommend Heather highly enough! From the moment we met, it was clear she genuinely cares about my pup and takes her responsibilities seriously. Heather provided excellent care for him and kept me updated with photos and messages, and made me feel completely at ease while I was away.”

“Michael was great with my cat and dog. My dog had separation anxiety issues and let me know whenever she did do a little damage and gave her a walk to help her. He was very attentive with their needs. I would use him again!”

“Chantal did an exceptional job caring for my 3 babies. She went above and beyond in every way, and I felt completely at ease knowing they were in her care. My dogs absolutely loved her, and she treated them with so much love, patience, and attention. She did everything and more, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, caring, and truly amazing with pets.”

About: I’ve been an animal lover my whole life and have always enjoyed caring for both cats and dogs. I’ve also pet sat for friends while they’re out of town and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals of all personalities. I’m currently a college student, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I’m happy to work around your pet’s routine and visit when it’s most convenient for you and them. Whether your pet enjoys walks, playtime, belly rubs, snuggles, or simply having someone keep them company, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention and care while you’re away. I know being away from your pets can be stressful, so I’ll gladly send photo and video updates during my visits to help give you peace of mind. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for until you’re back home. I look forward to meeting you and your sweet pets! I currently work part-time and have a flexible schedule, allowing me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and visit at times that are most convenient for you. Whether your pet needs a quick check-in, playtime, feeding, or extra attention, I’ll do my best to provide reliable and consistent care. Safety and comfort are my top priorities when caring for pets. For drop-in visits, I follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, walks, playtime, litter box cleaning, and plenty of attention. I know every pet is different, and I take the time to learn their individual needs and personality. I have a fenced yard and may be available for daycare services on a case-by-case basis. If needed, I can crate your dog according to your instructions to help keep them safe and comfortable. About: I've taken care of multiple types of animals over the years! Dogs, cats, birds, bugs, reptiles, rodents, amphibians and fish! Much of my experience comes from working at PetSmart and owning most of these animals myself! I have 2 Rottweiler/Husky mixes, 2 cats, a cornsnake, 5 birds (Sun Conure, Green Cheek Conure, Cockatiel, and 2 Budgies!), 3 axolotls, one tank of Koi and Goldfish, and another tank of tropical fish! I currently work part-time at PetSmart as a pet caretaker! I have Thursdays off, but my work schedule doesn't normally get in the way. I always wait for an animal to greet me first to avoid stressing the pet out. I normally have calming chews and treats on me to try to encourage the animal that I am not a threat.

“Demi did absolutely amazing with my foster cat Benito! This was my first Rover experience, and I had full peace of mind while I was away because of Demi’s promptness, communication, and enthusiasm. She sent detailed updates and so many photos for each drop-in and even left a printed collage of some of the pictures she took of Benny 🥲 Would not hesitate to recommend Demi for loving pet care and will definitely be booking her again in the future!”

About: I’ve been caring for pets my entire life, from tiny 8-pound Chihuahuas to 180-pound gentle giants like Bernese Mountain Dogs. I’m comfortable with all sizes, ages, and personalities. From energetic puppies to seniors who need a little extra patience and support. I also have extensive experience with cats and currently have three of my own, so I understand the routines, behaviors, and special attention that both dogs and cats need to feel safe and happy. Over the years, I’ve helped care for a wide range of pets for family, friends, and clients, and I always treat every animal like they’re part of my own family. Whether it’s feeding, walking, playtime, medications, or simply offering companionship, I’m dedicated to making sure every pet feels loved and well-cared for while their owners are away. I do work full-time, but I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to provide reliable and consistent pet care. I work remotely on Mondays and Fridays, which means I’m available throughout the day for check-ins, walks, feedings, and companionship. From Friday through Monday, I can visit pets during the day as needed. On the days I’m in the office, I’m still available for early-morning and after-work visits, making it easy to keep your pet’s routine on track. Whether it’s a quick check-in, a long walk, or extra attention, I’m committed to making sure your pets feel comfortable and cared for no matter what day of the week it is. My top priorities are safety, consistency, and creating a calm, comfortable environment. I always follow each pet’s established routines so they feel secure, and I take time to understand their personality, needs, and comfort levels before introducing anything new. In a client’s home, I keep their space exactly as I found it while maintaining a clean, pet-safe environment. I make sure doors and gates are securely closed, food and medications are given exactly as directed, and any special instructions are followed closely. I’m attentive to behavior and energy levels, and I take extra care with senior pets, shy pets, or pets who need a slower, gentler approach. I’m respectful of your home, your pet’s routine, and your expectations, and I always communicate clearly with updates, photos, and anything I notice during my visits. My goal is to ensure your pet feels safe, loved, and well-cared for while you’re away—and that you feel completely at ease knowing they’re in good hands.
“Bethany has been great with my dogs! She eased my stress coming to check in on my dogs since my husband and I work long shifts. She gives them time to get out, stretch their legs, and use the bathroom before one of us gets home! I’m thankful for her.”

“Amber is a life saver! She is super flexible, responds quickly and is very considerate about how we raise and train our pup. We have used Amber’s services several times this month and we’re very happy with the care she provides. Boba is always very excited (and relieved) when she visits!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
