“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Anthony! He cared for our severely injured pup with the utmost compassion, patience, and professionalism. From the very start, Anthony followed every single care instruction with precision, making sure our dog was comfortable, safe, and on track with recovery. Beyond just being attentive, he showed our pup so much genuine love and affection—it truly gave us peace of mind knowing our dog was in the best hands possible. It’s rare to find someone who treats your pet as if they were their own, but that’s exactly what Anthony did. We are beyond grateful for his kindness and dedication, and we couldn’t feel more appreciative. We are already looking forward to having him doggy sit for us again in the future. Thank you for everything, Anthony!”

“Joyce did a great job with Bellini. She regularly sent me images and updates on my pet's behavior throughout my time away. Communicative, reliable, and an obvious pet lover - I felt confident my cat and my home were in good hands during my vacation. I'll definitely be working with Joyce again in the future. 5 star recommend!!”

“Viviana was amazing with our puppy, Ollie! It’s clear that she has a true love for animals and is committed to providing excellent care. She’s also knowledgeable and gave us great feedback on what to expect during this stage (it’s our first time raising a puppy). I would have her watch Ollie again soon, and I would recommend Viviana to others in a heartbeat!”

“Jordan was amazing! My senior citizen has a history of bad anxiety especially around the Fourth of July with the fireworks but Jordan kept me reassured that my boy was doing great and that made me at peace while I was away, which is all I can ever ask for while I’m away. She sent pictures and updates and I would definitely reuse her again.”

About: I've been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a child, animals have naturally gravitated toward me, and I've always felt a special connection with them. As a reliable, caring, and trustworthy pet sitter, I treat every pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you're away. My genuine passion for animals isn't just a job—it's who I am. I am a full-time pet sitter with a flexible schedule, allowing me to accommodate a wide range of pet care needs. Whether you need daily visits, overnight care, or last-minute assistance, I'm committed to working with your schedule to provide dependable, loving care for your pets whenever you need it most. Safety is always my top priority when caring for pets in a client’s home. I follow each owner’s instructions carefully, maintain secure routines for doors, gates, and feeding, and stay attentive to any changes in behavior or environment. I make sure pets are never put in risky situations, keep their spaces clean and calm, and provide constant supervision during visits. What sets me apart is my detail-focused approach and commitment to treating every home and pet with the same level of respect, care, and responsibility I would expect for my own.

About: Hi, I’m Amy! I am a responsible and dependable animal lover who understands that pets are an important part of the family. I grew up on a farm with several animals. I have always been surrounded by dogs, cats, and other furry friends, which has given me a good understanding of animal behavior. This experience taught me the importance of how animals have different needs and personalities. Therefore, I understand that every pet has a different personality, routine, and needs. So, I understand the importance of following instructions regarding feeding, walking, medication, playtime, and any special care. I work from home, and I can keep an eye on your pet while working. However, If this is an issue, I fully understand. I am available after 5 PM for my full attention. I am available overnights on Thursdays and free most of Fridays. I will do my best to work around your pet’s normal routine and provide dependable, consistent care. Your pet’s safety and well-being are my top priorities. I will follow all household instructions, respect your home, and contact you immediately if I notice any changes in your pet’s behavior or health.

“Jaclyn watched Pancho for 3 days while I was out of town. She kept the house tidy and sent updates/pictures throughout the day. She is caring and friendly and I will definitely use her in the future.”

“Isabella was beyond incredible with my four-year-old husky. She took the time and effort to make sure my husky was well stimulated and exercised. Isabella is great at communication, sending photos and updates throughout the day. She also took care of my house and followed the rules. Isabella also went above and beyond and helped Nyra get more comfortable being in a crate. I highly recommend her services!!”

“Justine was so amazing! I didn’t have a single worry while I was gone because I knew my girls were in good hands. She sent me lots of pictures and kept the house super clean. I will definitely be booking her again!”

“Jubilee and I were very happy with Isabella! She took great care of her. Food, meds, walks and backyard play. There were end of the day pictures and updates on what their day consisted of. My home was also well take care of; clean and just the way I left it when I returned. Thank you Isabella! I’ll definitely request you again!”

“Hunter was awesome. He was very attentive to our fur baby and respectful of our home. Hunter also kept us regularly updated with pictures and videos so we knew our puppy was well cared for. I will definitely be rebooking Hunter the next time I need a sitter and I will recommend him to everyone ☺️”

About: My name is Abby and I am 30 years old. During the year, I am a teacher but I love to jump into these side jobs to make a little extra income. I love all dogs! I have had 3 long term dogs join my family over the past 12 years who are family to me. As of right now, I own a wiener dog who loves to hike, swim and go on runs with me. I love giving dogs cuddles, tummy rubs, and walks. Dogs with energy don't stand a chance with me since I spend lots of time with my sisters Australian Shepard. Big dogs don't scare me either as my dad has had both Great Danes and Dobermans as our family dogs growing up. I am currently a teacher on summer break, so pet care takes priority for my little dog currently. I try to make sure my dog goes outside for a walk at least 3 times a day. My complex has its own Dog Park on the property with 2 other parks near by as well. All 3 are well fenced in to provide security.
“What a great experience. Yasmin did such a great job. We immediately felt comfortable and couple tell she was exceptional with dogs. We would highly recommend her and 100% will utilize her services again.”

“Rachel did such a fantastic job taking care of my pup! I felt at ease the entire time. She sent lots of updates and pictures/videos of my Ellie, she even brought her some treats and a toy!”

About: Fur babies love that I genuinely offer love and care at first sight and touch. With more than 10 years of first hand experience and knowledge, I truly enjoy interacting with the most intelligent, loyal, and loving creatures of them all. I have great pet care experience in: bath & grooming, tick & flea removal, and hair dematting. Also, I have experience administering medications. My key objective is to keep your fur baby comfortable and happy every minute under my watch. I have a flexible schedule with open extra early or late bookings for weekdays and weekends. I truly believe our beloved fur babies have a 6th sense and they will always be the best judge when sniffing people out if you get what I mean.

About: I’ve been caring for pets for family and friends since I was a teenager, and animals have always been a big part of my life. I have experience caring for pets of all ages, from newborn kittens and puppies to senior animals who may need a little extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, basic routines, and making sure pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. I also have a spacious home with a large backyard and a friendly small dog who loves having new company. I treat every pet I care for like they’re part of the family and understand how important it is to have someone you can truly trust with your pets. I’m home most of the day, so your pet will get plenty of attention and won’t be left alone for long periods of time. I typically take my dog out for a walk every few hours for some exercise and fresh air. I also live with my family, so even if I need to step out for an errand, there is usually someone home to keep your pet company. I want every pet to feel safe, comfortable, and at home while they’re with me. I have a fenced yard for supervised outdoor time and a friendly dog of my own. I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, or crate time if needed. I’ll always make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, care, and love while you’re away.
“Shanise is going to be the best sitter you’ll ever have. She followed every instruction, sent us photos on every feeding/walking/potty time and updated us on how my dog is doing. She really helped relax our nerves while we were away from my baby boy. As long as she’s available, I would hire her to take care of my dog for the foreseeable future.”

About: I have dog sat for family friends for years including anything from just popping in to check on and walk/feed their pups, from staying with their dogs for the week while they’re out of town, and the owners have always conveyed feeling more than satisfied with my care! I’m also super active so can keep up with anything! I currently have open availability to care for your pups on the weekends and most weekdays as I am in school and working part-time! This is not likely to drastically change without prior notice. I live right next door to a beautiful park with tons of range for your dogs to get their energy out and play outside as well as having reliable transportation to come to you and care for your pets at your convenience!
About: I previously worked for one year at a professional cattery, where I cared for cats of different ages, personalities, and special needs. I truly love animals—I currently have two cats and a chinchilla—so pet care has always been a natural part of my life. I’m familiar with basic pet health, behavior, and stress signals, and I always pay close attention to each pet’s comfort and safety. Whether it’s feeding, cleaning, playing, or comforting shy or sensitive pets, I approach every animal with patience, gentleness, and genuine care. I work on Sundays and Mondays, but I have flexible availability on the rest of the week. I’m fully available for visits and cat sitting from Tuesday to Saturday, and I can often adjust my schedule to fit your pet’s routine. I always prioritize safety and a calm environment. My home is clean, pet-friendly, and well-organized to ensure your pet stays comfortable. I’m experienced in handling different temperaments, and I always introduce new pets slowly and respectfully. With my knowledge of basic pet care and behavior, I make sure each animal feels safe, understood, and relaxed throughout their stay.
“Carissa was fantastic! I had a change of plans at the last minute and she rolled with it with grace and kindness. She went over and above all of my expectations and sent lots of pictures of my dogs enjoying themselves - she was also honest that one of them really missed me and sat by the gate waiting for me; I extra appreciate that because it would have been really easy (and probably more comfortable) to just fluff over that. She even sent pictures when she gave the time-sensitive meds to one of my dogs. VERY responsible, played with them outside a lot, snuggled with them on the couch. Even put my sheep in their pen at night! ? She even left super sweet gift bags with report cards for each of them (just the dogs, not the sheep lol) ! I highly recommend her and as a dog professional of 45 years I can be hard to please.”

Tony was absolutely amazing with our two bulldogs, Hendrix and Benny! From the very beginning, he kept us constantly updated and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. He was incredibly sweet with the boys, spent time playing outside with them, hanging out with them, and genuinely treated them like his own. Hendrix and Benny absolutely adored him, which says everything because they can definitely be stubborn bulldogs 😂. What really meant so much to us was that on the last day, Tony could have left much earlier, but he stayed longer because he didn’t want them to be alone for too long. That level of kindness and care meant the world to us. Tony is smart, trustworthy, kind, and truly amazing with dogs. We are beyond grateful for him and would recommend him to anyone looking for someone who will genuinely love and care for their pets. Thank you so much, Tony!!

Kelsey is the BEST with our dogs. We love having her care for them and will absolutely book her in the future. She's so calm and understanding of our dogs, allowing each of them personal time and affection from her. We're forever grateful we found her on Rover!

Jubilee and I were very happy with Isabella! She took great care of her. Food, meds, walks and backyard play. There were end of the day pictures and updates on what their day consisted of. Joyce is amazing! My babies warmed up to her immediately 🤗. I’m very picky about who I trust with my dogs, but I felt completely comfortable with Joyce from the start. She sent me pictures throughout her time with them, which I absolutely loved as a crazy dog mom! I highly recommend Joyce.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Charter Oak walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Charter Oak maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charter Oak choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Charter Oak. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
