“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Anthony! He cared for our severely injured pup with the utmost compassion, patience, and professionalism. From the very start, Anthony followed every single care instruction with precision, making sure our dog was comfortable, safe, and on track with recovery. Beyond just being attentive, he showed our pup so much genuine love and affection—it truly gave us peace of mind knowing our dog was in the best hands possible. It’s rare to find someone who treats your pet as if they were their own, but that’s exactly what Anthony did. We are beyond grateful for his kindness and dedication, and we couldn’t feel more appreciative. We are already looking forward to having him doggy sit for us again in the future. Thank you for everything, Anthony!”

“Joyce did a great job with Bellini. She regularly sent me images and updates on my pet's behavior throughout my time away. Communicative, reliable, and an obvious pet lover - I felt confident my cat and my home were in good hands during my vacation. I'll definitely be working with Joyce again in the future. 5 star recommend!!”

“Justine was so amazing! I didn’t have a single worry while I was gone because I knew my girls were in good hands. She sent me lots of pictures and kept the house super clean. I will definitely be booking her again!”

“Hunter is a fantastic dog sitter! He clearly loves dogs and did such a great job with our rescue pup during his overnight stay. Hunter was very communicative, did everything we asked, and was so patient and caring. He connected with our dog so quickly, which was such a relief for us in leaving him overnight for the first time. We are grateful to have found Hunter and will be utilizing his services again for sure! Thanks, Hunter!”

About: Hey there! I’m Celeste. Ever since I could remember, I’ve been surrounded by animals. Ranging from cats and dogs to farm animals. Personally, having 2 cats and a GSD of my own. I’m not short on experience with animals large and small and administering medication. It’s a stressful experience to leave our pets at home, and just as confusing for them. I wish to treat them with the same love and attention they get at home while they eagerly await your return. I’m currently an Animal Science student, soon to be graduate. I’m looking for a part-time, but in the meantime, I have a wide-availability up until late August. Available everyday unless stated otherwise. When you book with me, your pet will enjoy neighborhood walks, plenty of cuddle time on the couch, as well as any and all needs taken care of. I have a flexible schedule for the summer, which means your pet will rarely be left alone for long periods on the weekends.
“Viviana was amazing with our puppy, Ollie! It’s clear that she has a true love for animals and is committed to providing excellent care. She’s also knowledgeable and gave us great feedback on what to expect during this stage (it’s our first time raising a puppy). I would have her watch Ollie again soon, and I would recommend Viviana to others in a heartbeat!”

“What a great experience. Yasmin did such a great job. We immediately felt comfortable and couple tell she was exceptional with dogs. We would highly recommend her and 100% will utilize her services again.”

“Tyler did a great job caring for our puppy and house while we were away! We received photos every day and the house was immaculate when we returned. Tyler’s love of animals was evident. Would 100% book in the future!”

“Jaclyn watched Pancho for 3 days while I was out of town. She kept the house tidy and sent updates/pictures throughout the day. She is caring and friendly and I will definitely use her in the future.”

About: My name is Abby and I am 30 years old. During the year, I am a teacher but I love to jump into these side jobs to make a little extra income. I love all dogs! I have had 3 long term dogs join my family over the past 12 years who are family to me. As of right now, I own a wiener dog who loves to hike, swim and go on runs with me. I love giving dogs cuddles, tummy rubs, and walks. Dogs with energy don't stand a chance with me since I spend lots of time with my sisters Australian Shepard. Big dogs don't scare me either as my dad has had both Great Danes and Dobermans as our family dogs growing up. I am currently a teacher on summer break, so pet care takes priority for my little dog currently. I try to make sure my dog goes outside for a walk at least 3 times a day. My complex has its own Dog Park on the property with 2 other parks near by as well. All 3 are well fenced in to provide security.
“Once again we came home to a happy, healthy pup. Vacations are sweeter when we don’t need to worry about our little girl. Thank you again Stacey for taking such good care of Dakota.”

About: I have been dog and cat sitting for friends and neighbors since college. I have done over night visits to stay with anxious pets who need a human to sleep by, drop ins for cats and dogs, and walked dogs. I am currently back home for summer break from medical school. I am available any hour of the day to feed, play, and walk your pet. I can only do house visits because I am staying at my family’s home. But I will make sure to follow your directions on how to properly take care of your pet.
About: I’ve grown up with animals in and around the house. I currently live with 11, 2 dogs and 9 cats. All of which vary in age. I’ve bottle fed newborn kittens, administered flea medication and other oral and external medications, and I can keep animals company. I’m working part-time and I’m currently looking for another source of income even if it’s just a little side money, I don’t do much outside of work, while my schedule is inconsistent, I don’t work often, though I’m willing to negotiate scheduling. I have 11 animals in my house. Currently 2 kittens who I have bottle fed, and in the process of harness training. I have a fenced backyard for my two dogs, and a cat who loves to smell the flowers. NONE of my felines are outdoor cats, though as previously mentioned, I have one who likes to take a step outside every once in a while and one of my kittens has a borderline unhealthy attachment to me. The litter boxes are cleaned every other day, and all animals, except the kittens because of how old they are, are on a feeding schedule. The dogs do get cooked meals. Currently I only have 2 animals posted on my profile, but I do live with 11 total. I just have yet to make their profiles.
“Jordan was amazing! My senior citizen has a history of bad anxiety especially around the Fourth of July with the fireworks but Jordan kept me reassured that my boy was doing great and that made me at peace while I was away, which is all I can ever ask for while I’m away. She sent pictures and updates and I would definitely reuse her again.”

“Shanise is going to be the best sitter you’ll ever have. She followed every instruction, sent us photos on every feeding/walking/potty time and updated us on how my dog is doing. She really helped relax our nerves while we were away from my baby boy. As long as she’s available, I would hire her to take care of my dog for the foreseeable future.”

About: Fur babies love that I genuinely offer love and care at first sight and touch. With more than 10 years of first hand experience and knowledge, I truly enjoy interacting with the most intelligent, loyal, and loving creatures of them all. I have great pet care experience in: bath & grooming, tick & flea removal, and hair dematting. Also, I have experience administering medications. My key objective is to keep your fur baby comfortable and happy every minute under my watch. I have a flexible schedule with open extra early or late bookings for weekdays and weekends. I truly believe our beloved fur babies have a 6th sense and they will always be the best judge when sniffing people out if you get what I mean.
“Always such a pleasure to see Victoria. Our husky, Mika, absolutely loves her. Her dog, Nova, is the sweetest too. Victoria is so wonderful with Mika and makes sure that she has a safe and fun time! Highly recommend.”

“Carissa was fantastic! I had a change of plans at the last minute and she rolled with it with grace and kindness. She went over and above all of my expectations and sent lots of pictures of my dogs enjoying themselves - she was also honest that one of them really missed me and sat by the gate waiting for me; I extra appreciate that because it would have been really easy (and probably more comfortable) to just fluff over that. She even sent pictures when she gave the time-sensitive meds to one of my dogs. VERY responsible, played with them outside a lot, snuggled with them on the couch. Even put my sheep in their pen at night! ? She even left super sweet gift bags with report cards for each of them (just the dogs, not the sheep lol) ! I highly recommend her and as a dog professional of 45 years I can be hard to please.”

About: I mostly have experience with cats and dogs, but learning about the care of other animals if needed sounds like no problem to me at all! I currently am working full time, so evening care and weekend would be perfect for me. If you need any care in the evening that would be great. I am a very quiet person most of the time, and I try my best to not stress out any animals and to take care and clean them. I do work from 7am to 4pm

Jordan was amazing! My senior citizen has a history of bad anxiety especially around the Fourth of July with the fireworks but Jordan kept me reassured that my boy was doing great and that made me at peace while I was away, which is all I can ever ask for while I’m away. Tony was absolutely amazing with our two bulldogs, Hendrix and Benny! From the very beginning, he kept us constantly updated and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. He was incredibly sweet with the boys, spent time playing outside with them, hanging out with them, and genuinely treated them like his own. Hendrix and Benny absolutely adored him, which says everything because they can definitely be stubborn bulldogs 😂. What really meant so much to us was that on the last day, Tony could have left much earlier, but he stayed longer because he didn’t want them to be alone for too long. That level of kindness and care meant the world to us. Tony is smart, trustworthy, kind, and truly amazing with dogs. We are beyond grateful for him and would recommend him to anyone looking for someone who will genuinely love and care for their pets. Thank you so much, Tony!!

Kelsey is the BEST with our dogs. We love having her care for them and will absolutely book her in the future. She's so calm and understanding of our dogs, allowing each of them personal time and affection from her. We're forever grateful we found her on Rover!

Jubilee and I were very happy with Isabella! She took great care of her. Food, meds, walks and backyard play. There were end of the day pictures and updates on what their day consisted of. My home was also well take care of; clean and just the way I left it when I returned. Thank you Isabella! I’ll definitely request you again!

Joyce is amazing! My babies warmed up to her immediately 🤗. I’m very picky about who I trust with my dogs, but I felt completely comfortable with Joyce from the start. She sent me pictures throughout her time with them, which I absolutely loved as a crazy dog mom! I highly recommend Joyce.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Charter Oak on Rover is $54.39 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 14,229 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Charter Oak. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Charter Oak walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Charter Oak maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charter Oak choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Charter Oak. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
