“Melissa is THE BEST. I cannot say enough amazing things about her and her ability to care for an animal. As we all know, our pets are our babies and she resonates with that! I received numerous photos AND videos of my pup every single day. She took time to take him to his favorite store and let him pick out a toy. Melissa has been my biggest blessing and BEST EXPERIENCE through this app and I couldn’t recommend her enough! I did not have a single worry while I was away on my trip! Thank you, Melissa, for having such a big heart for fur babies!!!! 🩵🩵”

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was 10. My family and friends have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, and stay overnight with their pets. I would be a great help and it would be an honor!! I have 2 dogs & 2 cats of my own as well. I work remote full time in Marketing with a lot of flexibility. Because of this, I have a lot of time throughout my day to go on pet walks and bathroom breaks. Working remotely also allows for overnight stays when needed as long as there is a wifi connection! My dogs and cats are all fed day and night, played with often, and cared for as needed. I’m very experienced with animals so I know how to cater and take care of them well.
“Paula was great keeping our small dog in our home. She sent pictures daily and from her comments I could tell she liked our dog and was having fun with him. She also left the house in great shape. I will definitely use her again!”

“My pups were very happy in Brittany’s home. When I picked them up they were clean and happy. Brittany is very thoughtful and tried to cater to my pups personalities. She and her family are so sweet.”

About: I’ve been caring for animals since my family adopted our first pet when i was 5 years old! There’s something so special about caring for a pet, to love on and care for an animal is the most rewarding/special privilege! Caring for your animal really is a way I’ve come up with saving my marriage, since my husband has cut me off at 4 animals and won’t allow me to have a small farm in our back yard in the city limits😂 but trust me, if it was up to me, I’d love on ten acres of land and open an animal sanctuary! I am also a mental health therapist, and i personally trained our youngest pup to meet requirements to be a certified therapy dog. He comes to sessions with me almost every day! I work ten minutes from home and rarely work more than four hours at a time, making my schedule perfect for frequent play times and potty breaks! I am a regular runner, it’s my favorite form of exercise. I have all the equipment necessary to take your pup on a run with me! That would be such a joy! Thank you for your consideration and for trusting me with your little family members! Truly, i can’t wait to meet them!❤️ feel free to reach out with questions or more information! I work ten minutes from home and rarely work more than four hours at a time, making my schedule perfect for frequent play times and potty breaks! I am a regular/daily runner, it’s my favorite form of exercise. I have all the equipment necessary to take your pup on a run with me! That would be such a joy! I have a large fenced in back yard and two well behaved pups of my own to keep your dog company! I think having my own dogs is beneficial to me caring for your dogs best because i live my daily life mindful of my own dogs’ needs. I’d love to be trusted with your pup as well!! My dogs are house trained and mostly stay inside to free roam while we are away. They sleep inside as well(mostly on top of us in our bed, haha). Your pup would be welcome to any and all privileges that my dogs enjoy! Or if you have special instructions, I’d love to work with you to accommodate to keep your dog on their normal routine.

About: I have pretty much taken in every stray my parents have allowed me too ever since I could remember. Growing up i’ve had a variety of dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, and chickens. My mother and I moved to Olive Branch in November and since then I’ve been volunteering at a horse ranch a couple of miles from me. I love being outdoors so if you babies need a walk, I am more than happy to oblige! I will say the only service I can not offer is, your babies staying with me. My own dog is reactive to other dogs, from past traumas. I just graduated High-school and will be working part time, so I have all the time needed for your babies! Also if any plants need to be taken care of I can do so as well. I am available for weekends, early morning, mid-day, and even over night if needed. At my house my animals are spoiled, so I will treat your babies the same. They will get a multitude of cuddles, and just leave any special instructions like meals or medication. (However I am not specialized in injections.)
“There are no words to express the great feeling that you have when you know your pet is taken care of and you do not have to worry about them. terrell not only pick them up from the vet. He left their bedding. He went back to get them. He came and let them out when the lights were out and they were very afraid. He showed pictures at every point and I don’t know how or why we did not know about this service before if you want someone who’s going to take care of your pets like they are their own. I recommend Terrell this is an excellent service that I have nothing but 5 Star praise , and I don’t know if Champion and Ozzie would love anyone anymore than Terrell. Thank you so much Terrell for taking care of our boys.”

“I cannot say enough good things about April. I was impressed with her daily communication and the many pics she sent of my pets. April was very patient with my shyest dog and finally won her over; she now has a friend forever! She was very respectful of my home and followed all my instructions to a T. We will definitely call April for all our pet/house sitting needs!!!”

“Cameron was a great sitter for Lucy! It was obvious she has a love for animals. We trusted her completely and it was a pleasure to get to know her! We had to make some minor changes to our plans and she was so accommodating and agreeable--she made it a great experience for us!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Canton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Canton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Canton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
