“Fantastic! I could not imagine a better experience. Dependable, considerate, thorough. Tons of pictures and updates and my dog became genuinely fond of Lissette. The best dog walker of all time.”

“Dakota connects well with our dog Patrick and is able to re-direct him when he wants to just turn around and come home. Our pup can be just one small ball of over excitement and exuberance and they handle that well. Dakota has been very reliable and always lets me know if he needs to adjust the time a bit.”

About: I’ve always had animals in my younger life from cats to dogs, and even though I only have a cat I continue to love dogs. My current housing situation allows me to share dog sitting and caring of his clients dogs (ages 9 months to 14 years) for the last ten years. Since then I have asked my neighbors for tending to the needs of their dogs be it from a 5 mile walk on and off leash to a 100 yard potty break in addition to giving medications. I’m currently working part time three days a week and an occasional Saturday, so I have the time to care and interact for your furry friend. I live in a neighborhood with easy access to the Rivanna trails and a road trip access to a farm with woods in Earlysville for running in fields. I also have a very tolerant cat who actually enjoys dogs staying with me because she’s learned that visiting dogs often get a treat she’s earned one too. My house has hardwood floors on the first floor throughout access to the carpeted lower level is through a door. The dog would have free range of the house while we were at home and unless he/she is accustomed to be crated.
“Abby was great. Came over the week before to meet my dogs. She came over on time to play with the dogs in the backyard (it was too hot for a mid-day walk). The dogs looked happy in the pics and were happy when we arrived back home!”

About: I've been around pets my entire life and have always grown up in a home with multiple dogs and cats alike. Whenever I'm home, I'm the primary caregiver, helping with feeding, walks, exercise, playtime, grooming, and making sure they're happy and comfortable. I've also cared for friends' dogs and cats through drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays while they were away. As a college athlete, I know how important consistency and responsibility are, and I'll care for your dog with the same attention and love I give my own. I'm currently a full-time student completing my coursework online while training as a collegiate swimmer and track athlete. My practice schedule varies throughout the year, but outside of practice I have a flexible schedule and can provide dependable care. I always communicate my availability clearly and only accept bookings that I know I can fully commit to. When I'm with your pet, they'll receive my full attention and plenty of exercise, affection, and care. At this time I provide care in my clients' homes, where pets are most comfortable and can stay in their normal routines. I understand how important consistency is for animals, so I carefully follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, walking routines, and any house rules you provide. I treat every home with respect, send regular updates and photos, and always make your pet's safety and well-being my top priority.

About: I’m a true pet lover through and through! I grew up with animals and have always had at least two dogs in the house, each with their own personalities and needs—so I’m very comfortable providing attentive, individualized care. I’m currently a proud dog mom to a sweet 4-year-old Golden Retriever and a sassy 4-year-old cat, so I understand firsthand how important it is to trust someone with your pets. I offer drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays, and I’m happy to tailor care to your pet’s routine and personality. Whether your pet needs playtime, cuddles, or just a calm, reliable presence, I’m here to help. I know your fur babies are family, and I can’t wait to give them all the love and attention they deserve! Pet care is already a natural part of my daily routine. I plan my days around making sure pets are cared for, whether that’s walks, feeding, playtime, or just giving them attention and companionship. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to consistently show up for check-ins, walks, or overnight stays without feeling rushed. I’m used to structuring my day around animals’ needs, so adding additional pets into my routine feels very seamless. I make it a priority to stick to each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, because I know consistency is important for their comfort and well-being. Whether it’s early morning walks, midday visits, or evening care, I’m happy to accommodate what works best for you and your pet. I provide care directly in my client’s home to ensure pets stay comfortable in their familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. During each visit, I follow all instructions closely regarding feeding, walks, medication, playtime, and any special care needs. I make sure pets are safe, well-exercised, and given plenty of attention and affection while their owners are away. I also pay attention to keeping the home tidy and secure—cleaning up after pets as needed, refreshing water, and making sure doors and gates are properly closed. I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pet and entering your home, so I prioritize reliability, respect, and clear communication with regular updates.

About: I have loved dogs since I was a kid! I recently have been working as a nanny and that has involved light care for pets as well, my current duties are walking the two dogs and feeding them treats and filling water bowls. I am very loving and caring. My previous job involved feeding and letting the pup out in the back yard to play and to help keep track of certain habits due to the dog having food allergies. I am so fond of animals as a whole that my future goal is to buy a house with lots of land and do free lance dog boarding! I would love to help your family with your pet’s needs! Hope to work with you soon!

About: I’m an experienced pet sitter willing to care for your pets when you’re unable to. Mature and patient, I am an adult who is reliable and provides attention to detail when caring for your pet. I have lived in Gordonsville for 40+ years and had cats and dogs throughout this time. Prior to providing boarding or pet/house sitting service, I will meet with you and your pet to understand your needs and ensure a good fit for all. I will only board one pet at my house at a time to ensure he/she has a comfortable environment. For day and overnight care, I will provide meticulous notes and/or text messages about feeding, potty breaks, etc. I have experience administering medicine as well as pet/house sitting for multiple pets (up to 20) at the same time. An additional $5 will be added for each drop in visit and walking service, if more than 10 miles from my home. I work from home and have a family of four so someone is almost always home. I try to keep the same routine for your pet as they experience at home. Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
