Emily is a great pet sitter! She stayed at our house with 4 dogs and 1 cat for 5 days. She has a good understanding of dog behavior and is at ease with them. We have a dog who is hesitant to go to anyone new (and sometimes anyone familiar), he had no problems going to Emily on her first visit here. We have another dog with a behavior issue, in talking with Emily about it we learned that she is knowledgeable about this issue and had no problems with the dog while she was at our house. While we were gone, Emily informed us about a problem at the house which I appreciated. The house was clean when we returned home and the pets were happy. The pictures we received of our pets while we were gone were good and we were reassured everything was going well. We will for sure use her services again and I recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter.

About: I’ve taken care of both dogs and cats for as long as I remember. Currently I have one cat and two dogs, raising my youngest pup since she was 4 months old. I’ve been able to train her for sit, lay down, and leave it commands, kennel training, and potty training. One of my older dogs, Cookie, is blind and I help him take potty breaks and navigate our home. I even have experience working at a doggy daycare/boarding facility, along with basic grooming which includes bathing, trimming nails, and blow drying. I look forward to hopefully meeting you and your furry friends! My schedule is fairly open as I currently stay at home while my partner works full time. I am more than happy to add taking care of your four legged pals alongside my own! Making sure to stick to their regular routine to decrease stress for both them and you as their pet parent. I will be more than happy to do what is needed to keep them comfortable and happy.

We were so pleased with Erin she was amazing and our fur baibies were so well taken care of. We had an 8 day family trip to Ireland and Erin stayed in my sister's home with her two dogs including one that is a pup and my mini schnauzer that takes meds 4 times daily. She sent photos and reports daily so we could enjoy our trip without worrying that our pets were stressed out or not getting what they need. She was extremely professional and always on time and the house was in perfect condition when we got home. We will definitely use Erin again and have recommended her to all our friends. She also does drop in visits for walks, playtime or giving meds and we used her for that as well. She is definitely a 5 star pet sitter!

About: I've been around dogs and cats, as well as chickens and horses, since I was very young. I'm familiar with large and small, young and old animals. I've house- and pet-sat for dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and horses (and even a ferret once) since I was a teenager and have enjoyed every experience. I have a job weekday work hours, but I am happy to take care of your animals during early mornings, evenings and weekends, whether that means just dropping by for feeding and playtime, or spending the night with them. Unfortunately, I do not currently live in a home that allows animals. However, I am happy to come to your animal's safe environment to take care of them.

About: I got my first dog, Buster, when I was a year old and he was my absolute best friend for 14 years. I've taken care of dogs, as well as many other different species of animals, for nearly my entire life. Family and friends have trusted me to walk, feed, and bath their furry family members while going on vacations, weekend getaways, or just working long hours. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Studies and was an extremely active member of my county's 4-H program. I worked in veterinary medicine for several years before branching out on my own. I currently have 4 dogs and 1 cat! I am the proud owner of Goofy Goldie Caravan, based out of Barnesville, Ohio. I travel to pet parents in the area for basic pet care needs. My services include nail trims, anal gland expressions, ear cleanings, walks/exercises, and drop-ins. I have a fenced in yard with 4 friendly dogs to keep everyone busy. I'm experienced in crate training and leash training and will be able to keep your pet safe at all costs.

About: What makes me different from other pet sitters is that caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on a farm and have had the opportunity to care for and love many different types of animals throughout my life. Because of that, I understand that every animal has their own personality, routine, needs, and quirks. When your pets are in my care, I treat them as if they were my own. I know how important it is to feel confident that your pets are safe, comfortable, loved, and receiving the attention they deserve while you’re away. I take the time to get to know each pet individually and make sure their normal routines are maintained as much as possible. For me, pet sitting isn’t simply a job—it’s something I genuinely love. Your pets aren’t “just pets” to me; they’re family. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you’re away and give your animals plenty of patience, attention, affection, and care while you’re gone. 🐾❤️ One of the things that makes my pet-sitting services a little different is that I’m able to care for pets while continuing my everyday work cleaning cabins. The cabins I work at are pet-friendly, which means your fur babies are welcome to tag along with me! This allows me to provide care throughout my normal day while also making sure your pets have companionship, attention, and a safe environment. Rather than being left alone for long periods of time, they can stay by my side while I work and enjoy being part of my day. Of course, I understand that every pet is different. I’ll always take their personality, comfort level, routine, and needs into consideration. Some pets may happily follow me around, while others may prefer to relax in their own space. I’m happy to accommodate what makes them feel safest and most comfortable. I love that my work allows me to combine two things I genuinely enjoy—caring for animals and creating a clean, welcoming environment. Your pets become part of my day, and I treat them with the same patience, love, and care that I would give my own. ❤️🐶🐱 I’m a dependable, compassionate animal lover who understands that pets are family. My goal is to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free environment where your pets feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. Your pet’s safety is always my top priority. I pay close attention to routines, dietary needs, medications, and any special instructions you provide to ensure they receive the same level of care they’re used to at home. I also keep a clean, secure environment and never leave pets unattended in unsafe situations. Building trust with both pets and their owners is incredibly important to me. I believe in open communication, reliability, and treating every animal with patience, kindness, and respect. I’ll provide regular updates, photos, and messages so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in caring hands. Whether your pet loves playtime, long walks, cuddles on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’ll make sure they receive personalized attention and plenty of love. I look forward to creating a positive experience where both you and your pet feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality and needs. I have experience caring for energetic puppies, senior pets, shy cats, and animals that require extra patience or special care. I’m comfortable with daily routines, administering medications, reinforcing training, and keeping pets active, happy, and comfortable while their owners are away. What makes me different is the level of care and communication I provide. I pay close attention to details, keep owners updated, and make sure every pet gets the same love, attention, and comfort they would receive at home. I'm currently working part-time, so I have time to spend with your furry family members. This allows me to reliably plan my day around feeding times, walks, playtime, and any special routines your pet may need. Because my hours aren’t fully booked, I can provide consistent attention, quick check-ins, and dependable care throughout the week. I enjoy using my free time to care for animals, and I make sure each pet gets the time, patience, and attention they deserve. I care for pets by focusing on their comfort, safety, and daily routine. I make sure they are fed on schedule, have fresh water, and get plenty of attention, exercise, and playtime based on their individual needs. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality so I can provide calm, patient care whether they are energetic, shy, or senior pets needing extra support. I also keep their environment clean and comfortable, including regular litter box cleaning for cats and tidying up any messes. Most importantly, I treat every pet with kindness and respect, making sure they feel secure and cared for while their owner is away, and I keep communication open so owners can feel confident and at ease.

FAQs for House Sitting - Cambridge

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 30 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cambridge. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cambridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cambridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cambridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
