Tyler babysat my dog, Mae, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. Mae is an anxious Pittie, so leaving her with someone new can be stressful, but Tyler immediately put both of us at ease. He was attentive, patient, and caring with her, and he kept me updated with photos and messages throughout the evening. What impressed me most was the sense of trust and security I felt knowing Mae was in his care and in my home. When I returned, Mae was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after. I would absolutely recommend Tyler to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you, Tyler, for taking such great care of my girl! 🐾❤️

About: I bring more than just walks and cuddles! With experience in vet school, grooming, and training, I’m comfortable caring for puppies, seniors, and shy or anxious pets. I’m attentive, patient, and always make sure your pet feels safe and loved 🐶🐱 Pet care is part of my everyday life! I care for 3 guinea pigs, a chameleon, 5 cats, a dog, and multiple fish tanks daily, so animals are built into my routine from morning to night. I also work at a pet store where I train dogs and care for a variety of animals, so being around pets isn’t something I squeeze in — it’s what my life revolves around 🐶🐱🐠 I provide personalized care in my client’s home by sticking to each pet’s routine. I prioritize safe handling, walks, feeding, enrichment, potty breaks, and medications, while keeping pets comfortable and relaxed in their familiar space. I also send regular updates and photos 🐶🐱

Kieran is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I left my 3 dogs at home while away for a long weekend and Kieran was sure to send pictures and videos every single time they went outside or played, or anything! It was great. More importantly, one of my senior pups was terminally ill. I made Kieran aware of her condition and asked to be gentler with her. My second to last day of my trip, Kieran called and because marlee had started displaying alarming symptoms. After calling me, Marlee was rushed to the ER while I rushed back home. I cannot thank Kieran enough for taking my baby into his arms and living her on her final days. And I can’t thank Kieran enough for making sure I had time to get to my baby before she crossed the bridge.

About: I love dogs so much. I've always been willing to dog sit for friends, family, and neighbors. I have dog sat for many different kinds of dogs (including small, medium, and large dogs) since high school and I love every single dog I meet! I also have a pug puppy named Marshmallow! I currently work a full-time job (8am-4pm) so I'm generally free in the evenings and on the weekends to walk and play with your pet! I love dogs and I understand the importance of potty breaks, walks, and play time. I care about your dog’s safety during walks, play time, and potty breaks! I also understand the importance of giving medications to dogs when they need it. Caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy, so it naturally fits into my routine. As a pet owner myself, I'm already planning my days around walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and making sure my own pets are happy and healthy. I have a flexible schedule and love being active, so adding walks, drop-in visits, or spending time with pets throughout the day is something I look forward to. My goal is always to provide dependable care while helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved until their family gets home. Your pet's safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I know every pet has different needs, so I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special instructions before each visit. Whether we're going for a walk, playing outside, or relaxing at home, I'll always keep your pet's safety in mind and make sure they're supervised and cared for. When caring for pets in a client's home, I treat both the pets and the home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine. I'll follow your instructions closely, keep your home clean and secure, and make sure your pet receives plenty of love, attention, exercise, and enrichment. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. My goal is simple: for you to come home to a happy, relaxed pet and feel confident that they were cared for as if they were part of my own family.

Cannon did a great job watching the dogs and cat. The cat is skittish around new people but by day 3 she was out and lying in her spot with the dogs and Cannon. That showed me she was comfortable with Cannon. The pictures Cannon send showed the dogs being their normal selves. I would have Cannon watch my animals again.

About: Hey, I’m Dana! 🐾 An Ohio University alum, I recently left a job in sales to work in digital marketing from home under my own LLC. When I’m not taking meetings, I am looking to fill my time caring for your furry friends! Stuck to no specific work schedule, flexibility is my specialty ⏰ EXPERIENCE: Proud dog mom to my 8-year-old miniature schnauzer/terrier mix, Delilah 🐶 I’ve owned animals my entire life and have felt a connection with them since before I could speak. I’ve spent 15+ years volunteering at animal shelters, walking dogs and looking after pets large and small. In the last two years, I’ve fostered this passion into an animal care and in-home boarding business that my husband and I find such joy and fulfillment in. I have worked with senior dogs 18+ as well as puppies as young as 9 weeks. I also have experience in (and continue to study) basic command training. Reactive? High-energy? Happy to help! WHAT TO EXPECT: Patient, loving care - no matter the service. I truly treat your pet like my own. I am big on communication and believe it’s key in a great care. I provide fun, anecdotal notes for your entertainment (and mine)! I have a knack for photography and guarantee quality photos each Rover card. *Boards can expect a nightly day-in-review! BOARDING: We currently take on 1-2 dogs (in addition to our own) at a time for a more personalized, in-home boarding experience. This ensures your pup gets all our time, toys, and hands-on attention! Twelve minutes from the CMH Airport, we live in a very walkable, suburban neighborhood with a yard and six-foot privacy fence, conveniently up the street from a VCA emergency animal hospital (for your peace of mind). We’re also minutes’ drive to Blendon Woods/Hoover Reservoir, ideal for fun day trips upon request! I currently stay at home with the pups throughout the day and will happily adapt to your pets’ schedules. I ensure daily walk(s) unless otherwise noted. We love boarding and enjoy getting to see our aging girl play like a puppy again! I am currently not stuck to a specific schedule throughout the day/week. Morning, noon or night - I’m here and happy to help your pup! It’s important to me that both you and your pup feel safe in my care. I am very patient and accommodating, adapting to each dog’s individual needs and ensuring their comfort.

About: Hello there! My name is Laura. I’ve cared for many animals since I was a child. Currently, my husband and I have three kitties. My family has a dog for whom I often care! I like to run and be outside, so I would be thrilled to walk your puppy. I am used to caring for dogs, cats, rabbits and open to other types of small pets! I live in north Zanesville and I am willing to travel up to 20 miles. We are also longtime Rover customers. Our former caregiver was so amazing. I took a lot of notes on how she did her job so well! It is my goal to model the example she set! I look forward to meeting with you. Currently, I am on summer break. I am a professor so I teach 2-3 days a week during the fall and spring. My schedule is quite flexible! I can do drop ins early in the morning and later afternoon or evening, depending on the day. My routine for care includes feeding, potty breaks on arrival. Once basic needs are met, I spend some time playing and cuddling. I take pictures and send updates at every visit!

FAQs for House Sitting - Zanesville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Zanesville on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 85 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Zanesville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Zanesville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Zanesville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Zanesville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
