“If you are looking for caring, thoughtful, and expert care for your pet look no further. Lauren inspires confidence in the way she relates with pets and pet owners. She actively listens and learns about your pet and their special needs and reassures you by telling you exactly how she typically approaches specific considerations with your pet. Lauren’s experience and expertise as a vet tech really shines though. She is knowledgeable, communicates well, exhibits strong ethics, and is very compassionate and accommodating. We felt our precious and demanding little Westie was in very good hands and would not hesitate to book Lauren again. Our family will also be booking Lauren for their pets as well.”

“Great experience with Connor! He was very reliable and able to cater to Milo’s needs (reactive on leash). He’s knowledgeable and clearly a big dog lover! Very happy overall.”

“This was our first time leaving our Benji alone for a week. We were feeling very unsure and anxious as to how to go about this. Our daughter was getting married in Mexico and everyone we knew would attend. A friend mentioned Rover and we investigated. But who to trust? After a few attempts, we noticed Jade with all her great reviews. It was the right decision! Jade was prompt, courteous, lovely with huge smiles. Most importantly, Benji warmed right up to her! We knew it then. Our worries faded quickly. Every day, twice, we were texted the time of walking, the map of the route, his activity and pictures. It made our week! Jade was so consistent and thorough, we vowed to give her a big SHOUT OUT! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, the assurance was greatly appreciated! :)”

“Nothing but positive things to say about Jonathon! He is trustworthy, reliable and absolutely adores animals! He has been working with my pup with “leave it” and I am absolutely blown away how responsive my pup is to him in such a short amount of time! He has a magic way with animals for sure!”

“Jenny has been a great help walking my dog and is very accommodating with my schedule. My dog is always happy to see her and she leaves detailed walk summaries. I look forward to continue booking with her.”

“Gillian was absolutely AMAZING!!! Whisky was such a happy boy having gone on walks with Gillian and I was told that he very much looked forward to seeing Gillian and his daily walks with her while I was away. Gillian was incredibly easy to work with and so very accommodating!!! I/we are THRILLED and will be booking with her again!!! HIGHLY recommended ❤️”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for the past five years through dog sitting for family and friends, as well as regularly walking and caring for my own dogs. I have experience with feeding, walks, playing, basic care, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and am excited to build more experience and meet new furry friends caring for dogs through Rover. I currently work full-time, and my availability changes throughout the year as I balance school. Whenever I have free time, I’d love to spend it caring for your pet! I’ll always keep my calendar up to date and communicate clearly so you know exactly when I’m available. I always follow your pet’s usual routine to help them feel comfortable and at ease while you’re away. Whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, fresh water, litter box care, or lots of cuddles, I’ll make sure they receive the care and attention they deserve. I’ll also keep you updated with any questions I may have, messages and photos so you know your pet is happy and in good hands.
“This was the first time using a dog walking service . I can’t say enough about Karen and rover . Karen was amazing, sent pictures every day and kept us posted on the walks. I will definitely be using this service again!”

“Holly took great care of our little puppy! She was very quick to respond and did everything we asked of her with no issues at all! Will definitely be asking for her in the future !”

About: Extremely experienced and have been taking care of animals for over 15 years! I treat each pet like a family member with unconditional love <3 I am currently at home full time, so I will have unlimited time to spend with each and every fur baby! My schedule is very open; available for boarding almost 7 days a week! Caring for animals isn't just a job to me; it is natural and part of my every day life! Great size family home with lots of room and comfy furniture for them to feel right at home. I have a fully fenced in back yard, offering lots of play time outside. Awesome neighborhood for ample walks as well. I do have two friendly cats; both love and are used to dogs. If the need for crating is requested, I do have one available.
“Awesome dog walker. Very prompt and really loves dogs. Bedelia just took to her and was very well behaved. Grecia even provided some nice pictures of Bedelia out on the walk.”

“Rosie had some special needs this week and James was very careful and caring with her, and attentive to a potentially changing situation. I’m grateful she has someone looking out for her when I’m not home.”

“Victoria is the best! We set up a meet and greet before their first time together and Astro fell in love with her right away. It is clear she loves dogs and is very respectful and trustworthy. She left a detailed report and pictures of their time together and I know Astro can’t wait for his next walk with his new best friend.”

“We are so thankful we found Marisa. She is the most reliable dog walker we've ever had and is an excellent communicator. We love getting the fun photo updates from their walks, and it's a huge relief to know our dog is in such good hands!”

About: I've been around animals my entire life! Growing up we've always had multiple pets in our home. We've raised kittens into cats and puppies into dogs, all of this providing me with excellent hands-on experience with every stage of care in an animals life. Since I was 10, I've been responsible for feeding, walking, and looking after them. Now at 21, I’ve taken my dogs through training courses and have had plenty of experience caring for pets when my parents travel—making sure they’re happy, healthy, and loved! I am entering a full time job where I will work weekdays 9-5 but I have nights and weekends off and would love to help care for your furry friends! Although my yard is unfenced, I’m more than happy to take your dogs out multiple times a day and go outside with them on a leash to run and play. I’ll also gladly accommodate any specific requirements you have to ensure you and your pet feels safe and comfortable.

“Kallie was so great with Harlowe! She provided excellent updates the entire time and made me feel so comfortable. You can tell she really loves and cares for your pet. I will definitely be booking with Kallie again in the future! Harlowe absolutely adored her ?”

About: I have had pets in my life since I was young. I have taken care and loved them my whole life! I am familiar with administering medication, as well as feeding, walks, and general care. I’d be happy to love your pet while you’re gone! I currently attend school but I have plenty of time to care for your pets on weekends and in between classes. I would be happy to work around your schedule! I will happily crate your pets if needed. I will always make sure they are supervised and happy! They will be fed, clean and taken care of.
About: I am a huge animal lover! I have a lovely black cat that I adopted several years ago. She is the sweetest, a cuddle bug that loves belly rubs and even knows a few tricks! I absolutely love all animals, I'm the type of person to point out every dog I see while on a drive somewhere. I have a full and open schedule currently. Having a cat doesn't require a ton of time but she does love to spend time with me in the garden, she might be a little upset about that.😹 We have a full fenced in yard with gate, my cat is an indoor cat but comes out on supervision. Cats can be very harmful to the local eco-system so we keep a close eye on her! (we also don't want her to get to any plants that could make her sick!)

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Thorold
We had Holly come by and walk our dog Winnie while we were out of town for the day. Holly followed all instructions very clearly and showed up on time. She took Winnie for a nice long walk and ensured she was fed and comfortable before leaving. She was very communicative and sent lots of great photos. Highly recommend having Holly look after your pet, and we will definitely be hiring her to come back and look after Winnie again!

We are very happy with the care Sarah provided while house sitting and for our two dogs (5 year old Labrador mix and 4 month old Border Collie mix) and two cats on short notice. Both of our dogs got their walks and meals each day. She was able to entertain our high energy puppy and keep the house neat and tidy. Sarah was reliable and trustworthy, making our experience worry free!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Thorold choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
