“Thank you for a great first visit with our puppy! We loved seeing the pictures you sent of your drop-in visit, as well as the written report you sent. Thank you for taking care of our fur baby… we are so grateful for you for your care!”

“I have been in the hospital with my service dog. Holly has been able to make time in her schedule to drop by throughout the day to walk my service dog and give a potty break. She also reminds me if I have given her food and meds. She makes detailed notes on changes in behaviour. My dog developed runny poops. Since Holly was on the ball and reported it to me, I was able to get medication before the long weekend. All is well.”

“Kari was great, felt very comfortable having her watch my 4 cats for the weekend and giving the one his inhaler for asthma. She left great updates and photos of my babies, and was great for checking in. She was great at communicating and I knew my babies were in caring, responsible hands while I was away. Look forward to having her back in future.”

“Samantha was an outstanding kitty sitter during a three week trip. She was consistent and always went above and beyond for our fur babies. Our cats absolutely adored her and every day Samantha sent updates and photos. Samantha didn't just take care of their basic needs, she made them feel loved during our absence. Samantha is our first choice as a kitty sitter for future trips!”

“Emily took great care of our cat and rabbit while we were away. She did some other tasks at the house which is greatly appreciated. Emily is reliable and a pleasure to work with! Thank you!”

“My dog was immediately at ease and comfortable with Jackie and my cats liked her a lot as well. She listened to all my instructions. I will certainly book with her again.”

“Jenny was great during her first visit with our new puppy! I was able to meet her in advance to make sure she was a good fit for us. She provided lots of updates and photos of Lumen throughout her stay. Looking forward to having her come back to care for our girl!”

“Charlene was wonderful. Our family took a two week vacation and Charlene took the time to ensure our cat, Eli, was happy, fed, and comfortable. The pictures each day were also a nice touch! Thank you, Charlene!”

“Kristen was easy to communicate with and gave very thorough reports for her visits with lots of pictures, my timid cat warmed to her well. We are so appreciative of the service we received.”

About: I've had pets my whole life but it wasn't until I adopted a dog of my own that I truly learned what it means to care for one. I now have experience with reactive and fearful dogs, counter conditioning, desensitization, and canine enrichment. I just received notice of an indefinite layoff so I will have all the time in the world to do something I genuinely enjoy. I feed both my dog and foster dog using enrichment tools(snuffle, puzzle, Kong, find it) trim their nails with a Dremel weekly, give them meds daily. They're always so excited for their daily walks, rain or shine. Though our foster boy needs to be bundled up to handle the cold. I believe following a routine is important. Pets will be fed when they're used to, given meds as prescribed by your vet. Light grooming if requested (I may charge for more challenging grooms. Details can be discussed). If your dog is afraid of nail trims, brushing or anything else, we can work together on cooperative care to make necessary care less stressful for them.
“We asked Shannon again to look after our kittens again while we are away for the holidays. Shannon is always great and it is just so comforting to know our cats are safe and cared for while we are away. Thank you Shannon and we will definitely ask for your help again in the future!”

It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
