Luisa did such a wonderful job looking after our three pups! One of our dogs is a fearful rescue, and Luisa took the extra time to build trust with her, which really meant a lot to us. She was incredibly communicative, provided plenty of updates, and followed all of our instructions diligently. We felt very comfortable knowing our pups were in such good hands while we were away. We would absolutely use Luisa’s services again. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our furkids!

About: We all have busy schedules. I am committed to and have incorporated my daily need for exercise with my dog’s and we are open to offering this experience to others while we expand our social circle. I believe that a balanced dog requires exercise, discipline and affection, in this order. All of which I am willing to offer and provide throughout our time together. Socialization is equally important and Revy is a great example and companion. Small breeds are welcome to stay with us in our home for any range of time! Your dog can spend his day happy and healthy giving you peace of mind while you are away. Revy would love to share his routine! You will get photos of your furry friend to see how much fun they are having.

About: I've had animals my whole life ranging from cats and dogs to horses and even exotic pets like reptiles and birds!! I have pet sit for my own family and friends and lots of clients on Rover now too. Since I was a young girl I've been on a farm setting, feeding and mucking for horses, pigs, sheep and chickens. As well as helping with walking, feeding and bathing my own dogs and helping with neighbors and friends too. I really enjoy spending time with animals and helping them feel at home and safe. Your pets safety and comfort is of my utmost importance. 🐾 I will make sure I take my time with each animal to learn their own little quirks and needs and go from there! I currently am doing Rover and pet sitting full time, so I can accommodate many drop ins and walks per day. 🐾❤️ Your pets needs and comfort are the most important thing to me and they would never be left in a dangerous or uncomfortable situation! When caring for your pet in your home I would follow all your instructions to a tee and be providing you with pictures and updates while they're in my care. ❤️🐾 I pride myself in giving each animal my full attention during each drop in and walk!

About: Ever since I was younger, I remember caring for animal well-being. I helped my mom with her boarding facility by watering and feeding the horses and helping with dewormer/medication. When I could throughout high school, I did pet sitting here and there for both cats and dogs as well as farm animals. I’ve also volunteered in several shelters around Red Deer, Alberta. I have taken one year of veterinary medical receptionist and have worked in a veterinary clinic for over a year. I am now enrolled in the veterinarian technician program and will be taking that for the next two years. I will be in school full-time however I am very open on weekends to play with your pups and once I have further knowledge on my school schedule, I will be available during holidays and long weekends. I am very attentive when it comes to being around animals whatever your pets routine may look like I can follow very easily to make you feel the most comfortable when leaving your pet alone with me.

About: I have had pets all my life and love it. I have 1 dog and 5 cats. Im a sucker for animals in need. My dad always had dogs and cats while growing up so i am pretty good at and love walking dogs. I view animals as indidual and unique creatures so i always spend the time to make sure their lives are as great as i can make it. I work full time so I am available anytime early mornings, say before 7 or so (then i need to get ready for work) and then anytime after 5:30pm or so when i get home from work. For my dog I have a fenced yard and have multiple spaces in the house designated for her. I also have catified my house such as building cat stairs for them to get to high vantage points.

About: I have experience with little dogs, big dogs, cats, and fish! I used to have a Yorky named Bella, she was a runt but lived up to 14, she was great, but a little vicious lol, so I’m pretty confident with little dogs 👍🏻 I don’t have any part time or side jobs at the moment, so all around I’m super available, and I’m comfortable working weeks at a time I follow every step I’m given to the letter, I do my best to make sure the animals are well cared for and that they get their potty breaks, I also make sure they have a clean environment to rest and play in 😄

About: We always had dogs around growing up, but the majority of my experience has been with my own dog, Kit Kat, who I have raised from a pup to now being 10 years old. I'm also a happy mum to an elderly cat and two rabbits. Having intimate knowledge of how to care for many different types of animals means I'll be best able to care for yours, like they are my own. I work from home so it's easy to work around any type of schedule that your pet might need, including feeding times, walks, etc. Whatever makes them most comfortable. I have extensive experience with animals, including knowing the signs to watch for in cats and small pets who are sick. I also have experience with reactive dogs, which can be helpful for long walks.

Abby is great- takes excellent care of my dog and cat. They both can be shy and are very comfortable with Abby. She even went the extra mile and stayed a few hours longer when my flight was delayed, which I really appreciated. When I finally walked in the door my pets were their relaxed, normal selves.

FAQs for House Sitting - Red Deer

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Red Deer on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 58 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Red Deer. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Red Deer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Red Deer walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Red Deer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
