“This is the first time that we have had someone stay with our dogs other than family and Miriam was amazing! She took great care of our pups and my chickens! We appreciated her love for senior dogs (our oldest GSD will be 13 this summer) and our high energy 4 year old GSD. Can’t say enough great things! Between the updates and pictures we knew they were in great hands. Would 100% recommend.”
“Taryn was great with our dogs! She was very communicative and answered all our questions. She sent pictures while we were away so we knew they were having a good time! Will be rebooking for future trips!”

About: Pet lover living in a pet-free apartment. I grew up with dogs & I miss being around them. I have experience with small, medium & large dogs, from puppies to seniors. Although I care for my friends’ pets when they need me, I would love to match up with more dog owners in my own neighborhood. I’m available all day Mondays & Tuesdays, plus evenings after 7pm. (I’m a night owl, so I have no problem with walking later in the evening!) I have had basic dog walking safety instilled in me since I was a child. I understand the importance of trusting the person you leave your pets to, and although it’s a fun job, I don’t take it lightly.

About: I am a lifelong dog owner, and currently have a very high-energy red heeler. I have lots of experience in dog care and have participated in obedience, rally obedience, and agility with my dogs. I have years of experience as a foster for rescue dogs with unique and challenging behavioural issues. I lead a very active life and my dog is my adventure sidekick through it all! I work full-time remotely so my schedule is quite flexible in terms of being able to provide several walks and bathroom breaks during the day. I have a fenced yard, and live close to a large park, dog park, and dog-friendly beach. I also regularly drive away from town for hikes. Outdoor exercise & enrichment is a priority for us and we'd love to share that with your pets.

About: Animal lover with a lot of free time. I recently had to put my jack russell down after rescuing her 9 years ago and am not ready to add another fur baby permanently to my life at this time. I absolutely love dogs and your pet will be very well looked after in my care. I would love to spend time with dogs of all breeds while I fill this void as I'm missing having my little doggo around. I have my niece in my home part time who is currently enrolled in dog handling and very experienced with different breeds. I love nature and going for walks and I live close to many parks and trails. Looking forward to spending time with your animals💕

I highly recommend Casie and Neil! They took wonderful care of our dogs while we were away and gave us complete peace of mind. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of attention and love. They were reliable, trustworthy, and communication was excellent. We would absolutely use their services again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and dependable dog sitter.

Rebecca was great caring for my senior reactive dog that requires daily medications. She was communicative and I felt at ease with her at home with Ernie. She accommodated my vacation schedule and went above and beyond to ensure Ernie was comfortable and supported. Thanks Rebecca!

Elizabeth took very good care of our elderly cats and our home. Both of our cats require extra care - daily medication - and Elizabeth was very conscientious in adminstering the meds and getting to know their likes and dislikes. She sent thoughtful photos and videos every day while we were on vacation and it was clear that the cats felt comfortable with her from the beginning. In addition, Elizabeth took care of our home and left it in excellent condition. Because of some condo renovations in our complex, we had to ask Elizabeth to move some outdoor furniture off our deck, unexpectedly and she was happy to help. She even sent photos of where she had moved the items to make sure it was adequate. Overall, we would absolutely ask Elizabeth to care for our cats and home again and would recommend her to others. Thanks Elizabeth!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kamloops maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kamloops walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kamloops choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
