“We are very happy that Jett has been so well cared for. My husband was delighted each day as we received the pics of the walks and outside activities. He is even all pretty smelling with glossy fur! Thanks so much Cassandra.”

“So appreciative of the phenomenal care my dog Leo received. It was my first time leaving my dog with someone who isn’t family for a longer period of time and I got lots of updates along the way. Dan and Veronique were quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating when my plans changed. He was treated like family, thank you!”

“Rachel took such amazing care of Smudge again over Thanksgiving! We’re so thankful for her kindness, flexibility, and the way she treats him like her own. She kept us updated with the sweetest photos and videos, which made being away so much easier. Smudge was clearly loved and spoiled, and we couldn’t ask for a better pet sitter. Highly recommend Rachel — she’s truly the best! 🐾💛”

“Despite the last minute for booking, Harleigh was there for the call. She and along with her 2 dogs were very kind to Havanese pet, Buddy. She was vere kind and caring. I will definitely ask Harleigh again because of her immediate responsiveness.”

“Izzy was a happy girl when we picked her up, definitely well cared for and loved. Dorothy sent us a picture and a note letting us know everything was good, Izzy was enjoying her get away. “Jennifer and Mark were outstanding on every level. Upon meeting them, I sensed their genuine commitment to ensuring Roo would be left in good hands. With two dogs of their own it was very apparent that they are both dog lovers through and through. Roo was very well cared for and I received many pics of Roo enjoying her stay with her two new pals. I highly recommend Jennifer and Mark.”

“I highly recommend Kathy. It is such a relief for me to have someone like Kathy take care of my senior dog Lucky who gets quite anxious at times. She made sure Lucky received his daily medications and provided him with excellent care. Thank you again Kathy for taking Lucky on such short notice!”
“I was nervous leaving Meesha for the first time but felt better once I met Gloria. She replied right away when I asked how she was doing and sent a picture. Gloria and the kids tired Meesha right out during the weekend as she slept for several hours when she got home. I would definitely bring Meesha at Gloria’s again!”

About: I had cats most of my life and a dog for 6 years (all rescues, all now deceased). I am a mature, reliable and caring 58 year old with a post-graduate degree and have chosen to dedicate my retirement to animals - pet sitting, volunteering, and animal advocacy work. I have a wide open schedule as I am retired with very few commitments. I love animals and want to dedicate all my available time to caring for them. I will spend time petting, playing, and feeding your fur baby as well as cleaning up after them. I'm also happy to water plants and take in mail or any other reasonable service that may be required.
“Loved the updates and photos I got of my pup. It was my puppies first night away since coming to my home and Natalie did an amazing job keeping me in the loop! The time, space and dedication in the care for your fur babies is there. Thank you again and definitely will rebook in the future :)”

About: I love dogs and have cared for them since childhood. I have adopted rescues and taken in puppies, both large breeds and small. Our family loves dogs of all sizes. I am at home full time for summer. I am free to take your pup on walks or to play fetch in our fenced yard! I have a fenced yard and one dog to keep your fur baby company - and dogs are allowed on our couches. We have two cats that keep to themselves and can be quartined in a seperate area if necessary. We are a smoke free home. I love animals and would enjoy having your pup in my home!
About: I’ve taken care of big dogs and little dogs for friends and family for many years. I have made sure their pets are walked, fed, bathed and have had tons of love while in my care. I work from home so am able to make sure the dogs in my care get lots of attention through the day and are walked daily as well We have a large unfenced yard perfect for play and also go on long walks daily. My dogs are crated at night so would prefer dogs who are crate trained. We have a loving home with lots of attention and play

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
