“Veronique and Dan were fab from first meeting through to the end of the sit. They obviously care a lot about the dogs they watch and have a great home and backyard to keep them safe. They were amazingly communicative, with special thanks to all the adorable photo updates that gave us peace of mind leaving them over a long weekend. Highly recommend!”

“I immediately knew my dog Copper was in good hands with Jamie! It was our first time leaving our dog with a stranger, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Copper is a relatively anxious and somewhat reactive dog, and Jamie was able to handle her with no issues at all. Copper also needs a daily medication which wasn’t an issue, and I loved getting the regular updates. We will absolutely be using Jamie again!”

“Amber and Laura are wonderful with my girls! They have watched my girls twice now and each time, they come home happy and relaxed. My shepherd-mix is on the needier side with her anxiety and hot spots, and Amber/Laura were great about keeping her off of it and clean during her visits to help it heal! Both very loving and caring people who took my pets in as if they were their own while I was away. As someone who is reluctant/skeptical about leaving my fur babies in the care of others in general, they sent me videos and photos to update me on how my dogs are doing during their stay. I will for sure be using their services again in the future!”

“Melina and her family were the perfect fit for my girls! I loved the updates on how they were doing and the funny pictures I’d get send during their stay with her family. I felt very comfortable leaving my pups with Melina and her very loving family! She went above and beyond when looking after my 2 girls and will book with her again for sure!”

“My Millie dog had a great stay with Rachel. Rachel provided a safe, clean, and caring environment, and kept us updated with photos, videos, and messages. Millie looked relaxed and seemed comfortable in her home. It was so nice to see that. We appreciated the updates, and it was nice knowing our dog was well cared for while we were away. Will definitely book with Rachel again.”

“Amazing! We booked last minute and Dorothy was so accommodating. Her and her family loved and cared for our tiny Pomeranian so well. We were late coming home due to snow and freezing rain and Dorothy was incredibly kind and put no pressure on us to be there on time - she wished us safe travels and offered us options for pick up. Honestly one of the best experiences we have had. Would absolutely recommend Dorothy!”

About: I’ve taken care of big dogs and little dogs for friends and family for many years. I have made sure their pets are walked, fed, bathed and have had tons of love while in my care. I work from home so am able to make sure the dogs in my care get lots of attention through the day and are walked daily as well We have a large unfenced yard perfect for play and also go on long walks daily. My dogs are crated at night so would prefer dogs who are crate trained. We have a loving home with lots of attention and play
“This was our first time having someone care for our dog and we were very happy with the experience. We appreciated the meet and greet ahead of time. We knew at that time that Cassandra would be a good fit for us. Her facilities are well set up for a variety of dogs and gave us confidence that our dog would be happy and safe. The daily photos were a welcome bonus.”

“I am very satisfied with the service I received from Gloria. Maggie was glad to see us when we picked her up & slept the rest of the day. She enjoyed her stay with Gloria and the other dog she boarded, as they played a lot outside. Maggie always sleeps after playing with other dogs. I would definitely refer her to anyone else needing a sitter for their pet. Denise Laquerre”

About: I had cats most of my life and a dog for 6 years (all rescues, all now deceased). I am a mature, reliable and caring 58 year old with a post-graduate degree and have chosen to dedicate my retirement to animals - pet sitting, volunteering, and animal advocacy work. I have a wide open schedule as I am retired with very few commitments. I love animals and want to dedicate all my available time to caring for them. I will spend time petting, playing, and feeding your fur baby as well as cleaning up after them. I'm also happy to water plants and take in mail or any other reasonable service that may be required.
“Very friendly, very accommodating, absolutely pleasurable to communicate with, had a very lovely home and was very amazing to our pets!! amazing care of them and kept us updated!! Highly recommended and will definitely be rebooking!! if you’re not using her you’re missing out and your fur babies will thank you!!”

“So glad we found Meghan. It was last minute notice and she was so accommodating. She was great with the dogs kept us updated all weekend. She went above and beyond and we will definitely use her again in the future.”
“Briana provided amazing care to our Boston terrier who struggles with separation anxiety. She kept me updated with regular photos and messages, which gave me peace of mind. Our pup looked relaxed in her home! I highly recommend Briana to anyone looking for a responsible, caring, and attentive dog sitter. I will definitely be booking with her again!”

About: Located just 8 minutes north of Chelmsford; I have a lifetime of experience starting as a child on our farm with a variety of our four-legged friends including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs/hamsters (and some 2 legged friends - ducks & geese!) There has rarely been a time that we did not have animals in our home. I have and have had personal experience with 5 of our own canine seniors spanning over 35 yrs developing patience and empathy and adjusting to their stages of life throughout their lives. I am experienced with administration of medication, blindness, mobility restrictions and post-surgery care. In addition, I have Pet First Aid through Cdn Red Cross. In prior years, I have completed varying levels of obedience classes with all of our dogs as well as reactive training through the Sudbury Kennel Club with my GSD in his younger years. I carry those learnings and teachings in our daily interactions with all our pets to provide structure and a socially well behaved pet. Through the week, I work from home and at times in the community, but my flexibility can allow me to meet the scheduling needs of a pet parent when planned in advance. I don't mind last minute scheduling, since as we know life happens, if I am able to accommodate. Most importantly, I can be present and attentive to provide positive interaction, care and playtime for your fur baby. I am situated in a rural setting on several acres with a large amount of groomed yard and acreage away from the road. The main floor of my home is open for free roam. I offer a soft crate that remains open, to provide comfort and security if your pet has anxiety about being somewhere other than home and if you would like to make it available to your baby. My home is quiet and calm where they will have a great place to relax and carry on at their own pace.
About: I have grown up with cats and Golden Retrievers all my life. Most recently I had a Labradoodle Bruce. I did loose him to my EX but loved him dearly! I now have Mocha who is a 2 year old Simease. She is an absolute Doll! I have my kids who are both Teens around every second week and they will help with walks. Dogs wont be left alone for more then 4 hours at a time. I have a large home with a fenced deck. My yard is large and I am looking to fence in a section. I have alot of great greenspace out my door.
“I greatly appreciated Helena’s fast response to my last minute request for pet sitting. Her house is well set up for dog boarding and my dog was immediately at ease. Her dog Max was friendly to our dog and I could see they were going to have a fun visit together. Heena made sure to get the details about our dog’s habits and our wishes. There was a long lead and clothesline to allow the dogs to explore and play outside. It will be a great off lease area once the final piece of fence is installed. Heena was a pleasant host with whom I felt confident leaving our 2 yr old dog.”

“Kali was an excellent sitter for our high energy working breed dog (Coonhound/Springer Spaniel). It was great being able to leave our dog with someone with so much knowledge, training and understanding of dogs health and needs. Her exerperience in ecollar training was such a bonus as it allowed for a smooth transition and training maitenance under her care. She kept him happy, exercised and provided us with updates and photos throughout the stay. Will definetly continue to trust her with our pet sitting needs in the future!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
