“Mia was absolutely great! We will absolutely be using her again in the future. She was always on time and if anything changed she communicated that to us. She followed all the directions that we left for her. She spent a lot of time with beans and also sent us very cute videos and pictures”

“Brenda was an excellent fur baby sitter !!! We were leaving out of the country and she was available to help us out! She met the girls and then followed all our instructions, as well as communicated with us via text and WhatsApp (internationally) for all things daily which was very comforting. One of our fur kids got sick over the trip and she monitored her as well as helped and took care of clean up. We could not be more grateful! We would recommend her to absolutely anyone, and trust her with our girls. Will be using her for all future babysits!”

“Victoria did an amazing job taking care of our cat! She was very good at communicating about what was going on and took so many pictures for us. She also left really funny notes about what was happening while we were gone.”

About: Hi! I’ve been caring for dogs for over 10 years through walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting. I treat every dog like family and focus on keeping them safe, active, and comfortable while you’re away. have a flexible schedule and am available most mornings through early afternoons, as well as weekends and late evenings. I’m reliable, communicative, and happy to work around each pet owner’s routine and specific care needs. I understand the importance of consistency, patience, and making sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while their owners are away. I provide a safe, calm, and attentive environment for every pet in my care. I’m comfortable following feeding schedules, administering basic medications, crating if needed, and making sure pets get plenty of exercise, attention, and affection. I treat every pet like family and prioritize cleanliness, communication, safety, and creating a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners.
About: I grew up with dogs. I’ve loved and doted on them ever since I can remember. I believe I have a kindred spirit with dogs—all breeds. I’ve proved myself on being able to relate with them, understand them, their needs and train them appropriately. While maintaining the Alpha of the pack, it’s always been about mutual respect between us. Bottom line: I love dogs, and they—me. I currently work during the week for the most part (though sometimes from home) and usually have my evenings as well as my weekends and most holidays free. I’ve had my own dog since he was weeks old and he’s six now—my best friend for sure! I have a fenced house, with a huge yard for playing fetch, running and such with these dogs (especially for high energy dogs) and more than enough spacious expanse for these furbuddies!
“Kaleigh is my go to cat sitter! My kitty Mousse loves having her around. She always takes great care of mousse, getting him fresh water, cleaning out his litter box, to even hanging out with him a little bit longer just to give him loves. So happy I can rely on her to always be there for mousse!”

“Kylee was amazing with our Great Pyrenees Ghost! We had to be away for a night and she was able to come and let him out for us, play with him and feed him while we were gone. It was so convenient and ghost loves her!”

“I can't say enough good things about Tamara! She went above and beyond with Ollie, and was real quick in developing a relationship with him. I was worried that this being my first time using Rover, and Ollie being a new addition to my family that he would push boundaries and give her a hard time as he can be stubborn, but she demonstrated knowledge and experience when interacting with him that alleviated any worry I had. The updates made me incredibly happy as Ollie can be an anxious boy, and here I was seeing him calm, relaxed, and very well behaved in the photos giving me steps on what she did to get him in a calm and relaxed state. If you recently added a dog to your family, and need someone respectable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I would STRONGLY recommend Tamara! Any doubts or worries would be gone and your puppers will be left anew!”
About: I have personal experience caring for my own dog who suffered from severe seizures and required daily medication and attentive care. I cared for him until he passed, helping him maintain a good quality of life through love, patience, and consistency. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll treat yours like my own! I work from home, so I have flexibility to give your pets plenty of attention and care throughout the day! I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting around my work schedule, and I’ll always prioritize making sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible to help them feel comfortable and at home. I’ll make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of attention, playtime, and any needed medications. I’m happy to follow specific instructions and provide updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away!

About: Caring for animals has been a lifelong passion of mine, labeling me the "animal lover" of the family. I volunteered in a dog grooming/boarding business when I was in middle school, and as an adult, I volunteered at the Austin Humane Society for 4 years. (walking, training, feeding, bathing, playing) Pet care is not just about being IN the room; it's about active engagement, playing, keeping structure, and giving your fur babies the dedicated love and attention they need while you're away. I understand routine is important for giving your pet(s) comfort and peace of mind. I also believe in positive reinforcement to keep up with any ongoing training you're already practicing at home. Whether your pet is high-energy and needs structured play, a senior dog who prefers couch cuddles, or a cat who wants to play on their own terms, I do my best to adapt effortlessly to all sizes, personalities, and energy levels. For house sitting, I'm typically available all days & times of the week except for Sundays heading into Monday mornings. For visits, I'm down for an early morning walk/jog, a midday trip to the nearest walking trail, and/or a visit before bedtime. When I visit your home, your rules apply. I follow all feeding schedules, play times, walking times/routes, treat allowances, etc. I am very comfortable administering medications and bathing, if needed.
About: I have grown up having dogs my entire life. I have two family dogs named Comet who is 15 years old and Lucy who is 8 years old. I love my dogs and have taken great care of them. I also regularly walked a dog named Lucy (different from my family’s dog Lucy) twice a week for a year while in college along with many other walks, drop-in visits, or sitting opportunities over the past six years. I enjoy walking, sitting, and doing drop-in visits for dogs. They bring me great joy, have such fun personalities, and get me outside for some exercise and fresh air. I am a social worker who is currently working on transferring licenses from states. With that said, I am currently very flexible with my schedule. I will always prioritize your pet’s needs. I usually like to see what the dog is doing in their own space or in a new space like my house so I can learn their preferences. I am always in the same room as the dog and never leave them on their own. My house is very clean and organized. There is plenty of living room and bedrooms space for them to roam around.

About: We’ve taken care of dogs and cats our entire life, as well as Israel owning exotic animals. We know what it takes to care for puppies and adult dogs Danyelle and israel focus on pet care for most of their days. Israel does have a full time schedule that does shift on occasion. He is completely free of time on the weekends and anytime after 5pm. Danyelle is a stay at home pet parent who 100% focuses on the care and maintenance of the pups. She sometimes does run quick errands but nothing more than 2-3 hours to ensure potty breaks are given in a timely manner. We care for our pets with love. We feed them regularly and make sure they have plenty of water. We also love playing with big dogs. I take my parents dogs to the park to run around and release energy as well as playing fetch. We have a schedule of feeding everyone either together if possible or individually we’ll bring one in at a time to ensure no one is eating each others food and they feel comfortable enough to enjoy the food without issues.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
