Is your favorite dog ready for a little sun, sea spray, and sand? You’re in luck because we’ve got you and your four-legged buddy covered when it comes to the only dog-friendly beach in the Bonita Springs area.
Located just north of Bonita Beach Road, Dog Beach in Bonita Springs (8800 Estero Blvd. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931) is a local gem that both neighbors and tourists adore – and it’s one of the only “pets permitted” public beaches in the area. Open from dawn until dusk, the size of the beach can vary depending on the tide, but there’s usually an abundance of clear, shallow water for dogs of all sizes and ages to splash around in.
There’s also plenty of free parking in the area, making it easy to swing by with your dog. And the park is maintained by a group of enthusiastic, passionate dog-lovers called SOODA—Save Our Off-Leash Dog Area—who volunteer to look after the grounds. A plethora of plastic poop bags and waste disposal stations encourage everyone to pick up after their pets, while the dog-friendly shower ensures your ride home will be a little (or a lot) less sandy. Dog Beach is frequented by friendly and considerate patrons who often come from all over the state to enjoy this really special place—we know your pup is going to adore it as well!
Not sure you’ll be able to give your dog enough attention while you’re in Bonita Springs? Don’t worry, we have experienced local dog walkers in the area who will happily take your pup for a spin.
