1. Montauk Beach

- Heads up – pups aren’t allowed on the beach from May 15 to September between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- The rest of the year dogs are allowed on the beach at any time
- They can run freely – there are no leash laws at Montauk
- Just make sure that you’re keeping an eye on your pup, and that you clean up after them, the locals will appreciate it
2. East Hampton Beaches

- Dogs are welcome on the beach without leashes in the off-season
- From the second Sunday in May through September 30, pups can only hang out before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. if they are ON leash. The rest of the time they sadly aren’t allowed on the beach at all
- Plastic bags are available at the park – so you’ll have no reason not to pick up after your pup
- Make sure to follow the rules, as the beaches are actively patrolled
- Friendly locals and four-legged friends frequent this hot spot
3. Hither Hills State Park

- Located on the southern shore near the eastern tip of Long Island
- You can bring your dog north of Montauk Parkway, east of Napeague Harbor and west of overlook parking
- Keep your dog on a leash (no more than 6 feet long!)
- Enjoy the lovely scenery – just keep dogs out of camping, bathing and picnic areas
- Wide, flat and sandy, it’s the perfect place for strolling
- Heads up – it gets a little crowded here
4. Shadmoor State Park

- Your dog can visit this park year-round, just make sure to keep them on-leash
- Enjoy beautiful hiking trails with scenic shoreline views – they’re clearly marked and safe to explore
- Over 2,000 feet of beach as well
- Don’t forget to look out for ticks and other bugs

- Heads up – some ferries will charge dog fare
