The Rover Sitter Exchange empowers Rover sitters to refer fellow sitters to clients whose bookings they’re unable to accept. The pet owner gets a great Rover sitter, the referred sitter gets a booking, and the referring sitter gets up to $10 from Rover. Plus, their booking rate won’t be affected by declining a booking. Win-win-win!
Starting September 21, you can get up to $20 from Rover for a successful referral.
How It Works:
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do the sitters I refer have to be Rover sitters?
A: Yes, the sitters you refer must be active Rover sitters. To refer a Rover sitter, send their profile link to the pet owner.
Q: How can I connect with other Rover sitters near me?
A: Seattle sitters can join this Facebook group to connect with other sitters nearby.
Q: Do I need to live in Seattle to be eligible?
A: To be eligible for Sitter Exchange promotion payments, you do need to live within Seattle city limits. However, the sitters and pet owners in your referrals don’t need to live in Seattle. Example: The sitter you’re referring lives in Kirkland and so does the pet owner—that’s totally fine and makes perfect sense!
Q: What if I don’t have Facebook?
A: No problem! If you know some other local Rover sitters you feel comfortable referring, go right ahead. You don’t have to connect with them via Facebook, but you must send your referral to the pet owner through your Rover account for it to qualify.
Q: How long will the Rover Sitter Exchange run?
A: The promotion will run for about three months, from July 20, 2017 to October 20, 2017. That said, you’ll still have access to your local Facebook group and can of course continue referring sitters to help out dog owners after the promotion ends.
Q: When will I be paid for each referral?
A: Every Friday, we’ll count up your successful referrals and deposit what you’ve earned into your Rover account. For every dog boarding and house sitting referral, you’ll get $10. For every day care, dog walking, and drop-in visit referral, you’ll get $5. Starting September 21, you’ll get $20 for every dog boarding and house sitting referral and $10 for every day care, dog walking, and drop-in referral.
Q: What counts as a successful referral?
A: To refer a Rover sitter, send their profile link to the pet owner through your Rover account via Rover messages. To be successful, that owner and sitter must then book a stay or walk.
Q: What happens if the stay is booked, but it ends up being canceled. Do I still get my referral payment?
A: Yes. If the stay books, the referring sitter gets $10 for dog boarding and house sitting referrals, or $5 for day care, dog walking, and drop-in visit referrals.
Q: Can I refer more than one Rover sitter? Is there a max number of sitters I can refer?
A: For now, you can only refer one sitter per request. We recommend confirming with the sitter you’re referring that they’re available and willing to take the request before sending it to the pet owner.
Q: Do I need to know a Rover sitter personally to refer them?
A: No, you don’t need to have met them in person or know them personally. You’re welcome to meet if you’d like to, and your local Facebook group page is great way to get to know each other as well.
Q: Is Facebook the only official place for me to get to know other Rover sitters?
A: For the duration of this promotion, yes. That said, some Rover sitters have taken the initiative to schedule local Rover sitter meet ups—you’re welcome to do the same!
Q: Is there a maximum number of referrals I can make?
A: There’s no maximum number of referrals, however referral payments cap at $200 over the period of the promotion. (7/20/17 – 10/20/17)
Program Terms:
Effective September 21, 2017
The Rover Sitter Exchange program (the “Program”) runs July 20, 2017 to October 20, 2017 (the “Program Period”) and is open to pet care providers located in the city of Seattle, Washington and in good standing on Rover.com (“Providers”). As part of the Program, Providers may earn a referral payment in the amount of $10 (for walking, drop-in or daycare services) or $20 (for boarding or house sitting services) (as applicable, the “Referral Payment”) for each qualified referral that results, during the Program Period, in a confirmed Rover.com booking with the Provider referred. (Services may be scheduled for a date after the Program Period, but booking must be completed during the Program Period for Referral Payment to apply.) To qualify, a referral must accompany transmission of the referred Provider’s Rover profile link to the Rover.com pet owner (the “Owner”) through the referring Provider’s Rover account and in response to a bona fide booking request from the Owner to the referring Provider. Referral Payment will be deposited in referring Provider’s Rover account within 10 days after booking confirmation.
In the event of multiple qualified referrals for the same booking, Rover reserves the right to award the Referral Payment only to the Provider who was first to make the referral. In the event of repeat referrals for the same Provider to the same Owner, Rover reserves the right to award the Referral Payment only for the first referral. In addition, Rover may, at any time, withhold, freeze or reduce Referral Payments to any Provider or terminate any Provider’s participation in the Program if Rover determines, in its discretion, that such Provider’s conduct is inappropriate, in bad faith, or otherwise violates these Program Terms or the spirit or letter of any other terms or guidelines applicable to the Program. Providers are solely responsible for any liabilities arising from their acts or omissions in connection with their referrals.
These Program Terms may be modified by Rover at any time, including during the Program Period. The Rover.com Terms of Service also apply.
