Who’s a good dog? Your dog! And, to keep them healthy and happy, treats are essential to your pet parent’s supply kit, particularly as training tools. As with any food, you’ll want to stick with high-quality options. The best organic dog treats can fit that bill.

Organic is a specific moniker that signifies the food has a minimum of 95% organic ingredients. It can be a little bit harder to find a variety of meat proteins that can get the “organic” label. When they do, it’s usually chicken or beef, while other proteins are more likely to be labeled “free-range” or “wild-caught.”

The majority of the dog treats we’ve chosen for this list are certified USDA organic, but we’ve also included a few that include many certified organic ingredients and have additional features that we feel make them great all-around treats for your dog.

Supporting ingredients include rolled oats for rich fiber, sunflower oil for essentially fatty acids, and turmeric for added flavor and anti-inflammatory properties.

While crunchy treats make good daily rewards, the peanut butter and chicken combo bumps these O-rings a little higher in value (and calories) than other biscuits.

While this peanut butter isn’t all organic, it’s as close as we could find, featuring organic honey and organic palm oil. Plus, the company’s mission is to increase bee habitat, so every purchase helps fund wildflower planting.

Like most nut butters for dogs, it’s high in fat and calories, so you’ll want to use it in small amounts as a special treat.

Break up these versatile jerky treats or treat them whole—they come in two meat protein options.

Full Moon’s organic jerky is a high-value, versatile treat that you can serve up whole for some chewing fun, or break into smaller bits for training. You can even sprinkle some over your dog’s kibble if you have a reluctant eater.

This grass-fed beef recipe uses a mix of organic beef, chicken, and turkey, which provides a high 40% protein content. The hickory smoke flavor and organic cane sugar add extra tastiness.

This jerky is high in calories and fat, however, so you’ll want to use the strips strategically so you don’t burn through your pup’s treat allotment for the day.

  • Protein: 40%
  • Fat: 24%
  • Fiber: 4%

Ingredients: Organic Beef, Organic Chicken, Organic Turkey, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Ground Brown Rice, Organic Flax Seed, Salt, Vinegar, Dried Cultured Skim Milk, Hickory Smoke Flavor

Riley’s Organics Jerky Jibbs Turkey Recipe

For a bite-sized jerky treat, these turkey bites contain one single meat protein—perfect for high-value training treats.

Single-ingredient protein treats are good to have around for several reasons. First, many dogs find them more exciting than treats with more carbohydrates, which can come in clutch when you need an extra motivational boost. Secondly, they’re an excellent choice if your dog has a known protein allergy. Many are also the only ingredient on the list or are accompanied by a short list of other ingredients, making them an ideal treat for dogs with identified allergies or sensitive stomachs.

These handy treats offer the slight chewiness of turkey jerky in bite-sized pieces, so you can limit the amount your dog gets. The ingredients list is short and sweet, with wholesome organic barley flour, oat flour, and sweet potato in the mix.
