Not every company in the world can offer employees a free puppy like Rover.com, but more and more businesses are starting to see the benefit in offering pawternity leave—paid time off to help a new pet adjust to life in their new home. This trend is particularly evident in the U.K., where pet insurance company Petplan says that close to five percent of pet owners are offered several days of “paw-ternity” when they adopt a new pet, or when dealing with a pet’s illness.
In addition to the pawternity leave trend, pet-savvy employers are offering other premium pet bennies like pet insurance, pet bereavement leave, and dog-friendly workspaces. Sounds good to us!
In a world where pet spending is set to top $62 billion dollars this year (APPA), these moves make sense. Corporate pet benefits fit right in with our growing passion for sharing our lives with dogs.
