Valerie and her son were absolutely incredible!! We made the request last minute and she was able to accommodate us which was so sweet. She’s great with communication and flexible as well. Most importantly, she kept in touch with us throughout the day, kept Wilson active and playful, and gave us a very detailed report at the end of the day. We are so lucky we found Valerie, would highly recommend!!

This was my dog's first day at dog day care and it was only for a couple hours just to try it out. But everything went very well. Chang updated me with pictures shortly after dropping my dog off to assure me he was doing well. When I picked him up he was happy to see me but also seemed like he would have followed Chang back to her house if she wanted him to. So that was very comforting to see that he liked her. I will be a repeat customer.

This is the first time I used Rover for dog sitting, and I absolutely hit the jackpot with Greg!!! I highly recommend him to anyone in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh for dog-related services. He is very friendly, caring, highly flexible, and trustworthy, and he maintained excellent communication/was highly responsive during the week that he watched my lab, Lily. Not a single concern crossed my radar leaving Lily with Greg for doggy day care. I knew she was in good hands and would be looked after well.

Barrett was fantastic. I was passing through Pittsburgh on a holiday weekend and needed someone to watch my two 1 1/2-year-old beagles while I attended a Pirates games with friends. Barrett welcomed Harper & Quincy to his home, provided regular updates, and took great of them (including giving meds). Would absolutely use again.

I treat each dog like they were my own and give them the best care possible while their owners are away. I also have experience dealing with smaller dogs that are aggressive with other dogs I work full time from home so I am able to give the dog any attention it needs and will be able to take them outside frequently. I will treat your pet like it is my own whlie they are with me. I have no issues with the dog sitting on furniture or sleeping on the bed. About: I’ve been a dog person my whole life, from growing up with Winnie and Hairdo to caring for my soul dog Cici (Khaleesi) for nearly 14 years. I lost my sweet girl in July and now I have a whole lot of love to give without anywhere to put it. 🥹 Your pup will be treated like royalty with plenty of walks, playtime, cuddles, and attention... just the way Queen Cici demanded. 👑 I work from home, so my schedule is flexible with plenty of time to give your pup attention between meetings and emails. My day job is in social media so you can guarantee to receive Instagram-worthy photo pupdates while your dog is with me. I’m super active and love a long northside sniff walk. I’m often available for early mornings, lunchtime visits, and late evenings. I’m happy to work with your dog’s routine and needs. My home is set up really well for dogs, with an almost fully fenced-in backyard and a covered deck for relaxing outside. I’m on a quiet street in East Allegheny, with cute spots around for treats like Garden Cafe and ACB. My apartment is on the second floor of a house, so there are stairs to get in and two steps inside the apartment as well.

About: A couple of months after we married my husband adopted our first dog, Sandy, and I’ve been hooked ever since. That was 26 years ago. Both of my sons are adults now so I have free time to focus my attention on your baby. Your baby will have my undivided attention. My property is fenced and I will accompany your baby outdoors. We can play fetch or simply keep each other company. I will do what it takes to make your baby comfortable and happy.

About: With over 20 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, and personalities, I provide a calm and structured environment where every animal feels secure and cared for. Your pet will be staying in our home's dedicated and separate room that has direct access to a half acre, surrounded by 6-foot privacy fencing, ideal for a safe play and exercise. I am a certified Yellow Dog Walker through Animal Friends and specialize in positive reinforcement, earning each dog’s trust through patience, consistency, and respect. Dogs from different households are introduced carefully and only if both owners approve. Every dog in my care follows a reliable routine built around their owner’s preferences. Feeding, playtime, cuddle breaks, and outdoor exercise are all kept on schedule, with regular potty breaks every few hours to maintain comfort and consistency. I am experienced in administering oral and topical medications, as well as muscular injections. In the rare event of an emergency, I act quickly and responsibly by providing first aid, contacting the owner immediately, and working with their veterinarian or PVSEC, which is 15 minutes away, if advanced care is needed. Boarding, overnight care, and in-home sitting are all available. Clients receive daily photo and video updates to stay connected and reassured. My family takes pride in maintaining a clean, attentive, and loving environment. Choosing our care means your pet is treated with the same responsibility, structure, and affection we give our own. Pet care is fully integrated into my daily routine, as I work from home full time boarding horses. I maintain a structured schedule that begins early in the morning with feeding, medication administration if needed, and outdoor time in the fenced yard. Throughout the day, I rotate between play sessions, walks, and quiet time to keep pets balanced and comfortable. Evening routines include another round of feeding, bathroom breaks, and wind-down time before bed. For boarding and overnight care, I remain on-site to ensure consistent supervision. I plan my workday and personal schedule around the animals’ needs so no pet is ever left waiting for attention or care. Every pet in my care is treated with the same level of safety and respect as my own. My home and facility are designed for secure, low-stress care, featuring a half-acre yard enclosed by a six-foot privacy fence where dogs can exercise freely under supervision. I never mix pets from different households unless both owners confirm compatibility. Feeding areas, bedding, and play equipment are cleaned and sanitized regularly. I monitor all pets closely for signs of stress, discomfort, or illness and respond immediately. In the rare event of an emergency, I apply first aid, contact the owner, and consult their veterinarian or PVSEC if advanced care is required. Trust is built through consistency, transparency, and communication, with daily photo or video updates provided to owners for peace of mind.

We do work in an office two days a week. Our pup has free roam of the home while we are gone (8 hours max), but we have plenty of options for gating areas off if needed that still provide a comfortable environment for your pup! At night we are happy to have your dog be wherever they are most comfortable! We have a lovingly large and friendly 10 year old lab/pit mix named Maverick and two small children (toddler and grade school). MUST do meet and greet prior to drop off to ensure it’s a good fit.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 673 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Ben Avon Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Ben Avon Heights commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in PA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 673 sitters in Ben Avon Heights, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
