“Hannah was absolutely fantastic! She was on time every single day, incredibly reliable, and took such great care of our dog Killian. She shared pictures and videos with us throughout her visits, which we loved, and she went above and beyond to make sure his water was full and send us pictures of it. After having a really bad experience with a previous sitter, that extra attention gave us such incredible peace of mind. She also made sure to spend time playing with him each evening, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about making sure he was happy and well taken care of. We truly can’t thank Hannah enough for the wonderful care she gave him. We look forward to having her watch him again and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, caring sitter!”

About: I have background in the animal control field where I was an officer and also work for veterinary services within gaston county. Your pet will be treated like family here, animals are a huge part of my life. I have had almost every possible animal, horses, cows, cats, dogs, large and small, chickens, pigs, and even fish. I love them all. I do work 4 days during the week but am home the majority of the time to spend with your furrbabies. They will be let out in the morning before I leave for work on those days and immediately after I've arrived back home. I only work 8 hour days and outside of that I'm home the rest of the time. My yard is not fenced in but i live on a cul de sac, horse pasture and cow pasture and tree farm on 3 sides .. i prefer to walk dogs on a leash while outside ( just in case) but if they seem to be well behaved and trust worthy i may play fetch with them and my frenchie in the back yard , there are only 2 houses on my road so we do have lots of privacy. Your furrbabies will stay inside with me.

About: Hi, I’m Lona! 🐾 I’m an animal lover currently in a veterinary assistant program with hands-on experience caring for cats and dogs. I’ll treat your pet like family, giving them plenty of love, attention, playtime, and care while keeping you updated with photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away! 💕 Right now, I’m in between jobs, which means I have a very flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care. Whether it's early morning walks, midday check-ins, or overnight sitting, I’m available and committed to meeting your pet’s needs. I love staying active, so dog walking fits perfectly into my daily routine — it helps keep me moving and gives me a chance to bond with your pet. Since I’m not tied to a strict 9-to-5 schedule, I can easily adapt to last-minute requests, extended stays, or custom routines that work best for you and your furry friend. Whether I’m caring for a pet in my own home or in the client’s home, my top priorities are safety, comfort, and consistency. I understand that every pet has their own routine, personality, and preferences, so I do my best to follow their normal schedule and make them feel secure and loved.

About: Hi! I’m Emily, and I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets as if they were my own. Whether you need drop-in visits, dog walking, or overnight pet sitting, my goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. About: Growing up I've always had a love for all types of pets, I've had a few family pets that I would take care of as well! What sets me apart from other sitters is that I strive to create a bond with your pets! Usually, I would like to set up an appointment ahead of time to meet your loved ones and we can create a bond, I would like to take this time to see if they're comfortable with me based on body language & behaviors! I have experience working with all kinds of pets, and I've worked at boarding facilities. I have experience working with reactive animals and I currently have a reactive dog!! Any extra knowledge I have is because I have a great sister who is a veterinary technician! I currently work 2 jobs, both of which are Thursday-Sunday. At one of my jobs I work overnight, so there is a possibility I will have to leave to work in the middle of the night and will be back by morning. Along with my 2 jobs, I am also a college student, with that being said I have to attend in-person classes during the week. I am able to care for your loved ones before, between, and after work, and make it a priority to give your animals quality care & all the love I can. If you have any questions about my schedule please feel free to reach out! I keep a close watch on my own pets as well as the pets I look after. I would prefer a list/note of what type of pet care you expect, for instance writing a note with your animal's daily schedule and when/what to feed them! If your babies have any allergies or if there's anything specific you'd like me to know about your pet please also disclose that information. At the end of each stay/visit, I make it a point to include a brief summary of how your pet(s) behave, just to bring you up to speed! I like to send lots of photos and videos of your pet, so keep your phone close to receive ALL the love from back home <3

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
