“Hillary was very communicative, flexible, and friendly. She was very attentive to our feeding/medicine instructions and communicated with me about what would be best. She did so much to help our dog, Marty, settle in. Marty came home happy and exhausted.”

“Riley is simply the best dog sitter you can search for. She is conscientious, organized, responsive, and she loves dogs. Her way with dogs is special; she paid attention to our dog for the week we booked, and the entire time we were away, we were at ease knowing our dog was cared for like family. It is without reservation that we give the highest rating for Riley - again, simply the best!”

“Amanda was able to accommodate me on short notice and took great care of my dog. She kept me updated the whole time and was even flexible when my pickup time had to change. She'll be my first go-to the next time I need a sitter in Charlottesville.”

“I highly recommend Aly B. She quickly answered all of my questions, both before and during my dog’s stay, sent daily photos, and kept my high energy dog safe and happy. A few days after my dog’s stay, Sunshine saw Aly and was so excited to see her, confirming that Aly provided a welcoming environment for my dog during her stay. I will definitely use Aly again to care for my fur baby.”

“You can't ask for better people! They can accommodate our nearly 14yo old lady and our bouncy 2yo, they have been staying regularly with Jani and Paul nearly 2 years. I couldn't recommend them more highly”

“Jesse was very friendly and asked great questions to make sure our dog would be well taken care of. He sent us pictures of our pup enjoying his stay which we really appreciated.”

“Beth is a very kind woman. My miniature Australian Shepherd had a great time with her! She went above and beyond our expectations and made our dog chicken and rice when our dog stay went longer than expected. I would recommend Beth to anyone to have their dog looked after!”

“10/10 would absolutely book with her again! she was so prompt and responsive leading up to ollie’s stay, and she was incredibly accommodating. as soon as i arrived, she immediately made me feel like ollie was in good hands, which gave me so much peace of mind. he had such a fun time staying with her and even got to see goats, which was definitely a highlight! i really appreciated how caring and attentive she was with him.🩷”

“During my trip, Bella kept me posted about Coffee’s walks and her integration with Bella’s family and the other dogs. Coffee looked very happy and clearly enjoyed spending time with her new buddies, walking and sniffing around the property. Thank you, Bella, for providing such excellent care for my Coffee!”

“Ashley watched my Lexie, 5 and a half year old black lab, for 6 days. She provided me daily updates and photos of Lexi's activities to keep me informed that she was doing well. I highly recommend Ashley as a resource to care for your dog as well.”

“Heidi and Lemon had a great experience! They came back tired but happy and healthy. I couldn't ask for a better sitter -- I'd definitely recommend and will be using them in the future if we need someone to watch the girls.”

About: I have grown up with big dogs such as pit bulls and huskies and love them dearly I really love how playful and caring they are. I trained both my family pitties since they were puppies I’m currently only working 30hrs a week can board for you starting Sunday nights till early Wednesday morning have space for animals to play and run I live in a house on a 1 acre property no fences so as long as your dog is properly trained and no risk of them running away I don’t mind letting them roam free if not I can just walk them around on a leash. As for cats same difference I have a back patio to allow them to be in the sun and have fresh air and all the space they deserve
“Kirstin is the best! Can’t say enough good things! Our new rescue puppy Sky is a little timid and needs lots of reassurance. Kirstin provided such a calm & cozy place for her last week & sent lots of updates and pics. I had a great vacation knowing Sky was safe, having fun & even napping with Kirstin’s kitty!”

About: I’ve owned both dogs and cats and have cared for several family members’ pets for over 20 years! I’m a huge animal lover and miss having one of my own. I’m a stay-at-home-mom of 3 kids so I have plenty of time to walk and play! My schedule is extremely flexible and I’m available on weekends. I have an unfenced yard and live 20 feet from the Crozet trail system, right next to Claudius Crozet Park. We don’t have any pets of our own but my three kids (ages 4, 5 & 6) are very active and will play all day with your pet. My sister is a vet at Dominion Animal Hospital so I have immediate access to professional help if needed!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Beldor home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Beldor.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Beldor sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
