“Leaving your dog behind while traveling internationally can be stressful, but Michele made the entire experience worry-free. She cared for my dog, Max, while I was on vacation and provided outstanding communication the whole time. I loved receiving regular photos and videos, and it was obvious that Max was getting lots of attention and care. Knowing he was in such good hands allowed me to fully enjoy my trip. I highly recommend Michele and will gladly trust her with Max again in the future.”

“I can’t even begin to tell you how great Kirk is. Part of me doesn’t want to, because he’ll get busier than he is even now. The care he gave our pets was more than I could expect. They love him. If you’re like me, coming home is one of the best parts of any vacation. We came home to a cleaner home than we left. Not only did he change his own sheets and towels and launder them. He performed other tasks that needed to be done. We’re getting older, and some tasks are harder for us than before. Kirk took care of them.”

About: I have had a wide range of cats and dogs that I have taken care of during my entire life. I know how to relate to and take care of several different breeds of dogs, I have a high rate of tolerance and I can really understand what are the necessities of any dog. I love them with all my heart just as you do as the owner, as I am a dog owner as well. I know how important it is to have a place that you can trust your pet to be while you are traveling, at work, or just need to go somewhere for a moment and need someone to trust to take care of your furry friend. Please note that my schedule is always subject to change, please contact me to confirm availability for specific times. (I.E. walk/groom your dog, feed/groom your cat, etc... 8a.m., I am unavailable the rest of the day or I'm unavailable in the morning and available to help out 7pm and later - PLEASE MESSAGE ME FOR EXACT HOURLY APPOINTMENTS TO CONFIRM AVAILABILITY. THANK YOU! I currently work part-time so I will have lots of time to be able to take care of your puppies. I have different days available each week however each of those days I'm completely available to help out with whatever I possibly can during our scheduled times, unless otherwise noted. I have a very spacious home where your dog/cat can roam as they please and find the comfortable place that they wish to relax. I also can give them attention based upon their needs if they have dietary needs, etc... and just let them relax and take care of them, feed them and take them on walks. I am currently studying part-time, so I have plenty of time to look after your pups or kitties. Same-day bookings are currently available for house-sitting, drop-in visits, or dog walking. I can be trusted with keys/codes; I am very prudent about respecting others' property and only request that all relevant house rules are laid out before house-sitting. I will maintain reasonably consistent communication throughout the booking to keep the pup and/or kitty owners informed and rest assured their loved ones are in good hands.

“We had Staci stay with our Pittie, Jax, in our home, for 15 days. She came over for a meet and greet before we departed and Jax took to her immediately. Staci was dependable, neat, and trustworthy. She took such great care of Jax, even let him sleep with her. She sent us regular updates and pictures while we were gone. We came home to find not only a happy dog, but a clean house too. I would definitely rebook with Staci and would recommend her to anyone.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Britt stayed overnight with our two dogs for six days and took amazing care of both our pups and our home. She treated our dogs like they were her own and kept us updated with frequent messages and lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She also went above and beyond when our AC unexpectedly stopped working. She immediately let us know, and set up fans to keep our dogs comfortable until we got home. We were so grateful knowing they were in such caring and capable hands. She left our home spotless, was incredibly reliable, spent lots of time playing with them and giving them exercise, and made the entire experience completely stress-free. We would absolutely hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will truly care for their pets.”

About: The greater joys and attachments in life have come to me by the way of my dogs. I have always had a strong connection with my pets and have been accused on many occasions of treating my furry friends as well as, or better than humans. I'm extremely picky about the cleanliness and comfort of my house yet cannot imagine it being a home without the wonderful energy that only a pet can give it. Having taken in and assisted in the care of pets over many years, my file at a local veterinarian's office is ridiculously thick. It is that same veterinarian who shared with me that when he passes it would be his wish to come back as one of my pets. Be assured, I will love and care for your pet! My home is a warm and peaceful place- free from drama, full of good energy. I believe animals can keenly sense when they’re in a safe place from the moment they step into your space. They’re also acutely aware when it’s not. For the select pets who prefer staying in their own home while their humans are away, I enter in to your home with love, and respect of your space. I exercise discretion, as staying in your home requires a level of privacy that will be protected. I always vow to leave a property as clean and cared for as when I first entered it. Having spent a significant time in overseas travel, I found it unbearable from the moment I departed from home until I landed back home- my two dogs were always on my mind and in my heart. They were like my children. When I take care of your fur baby, they will be my one and only concern. I have a wonderful yard that is fully fenced- it’s a slice of heaven for any pup! I don’t keep them outside, especially when it’s too warm or too cold. I’ve never understood dog owners kenneling their dogs outside, having little interaction.

About: I have taken care of animals since I was born. My mom was a dog breeder so I would help her with the puppies and I just love working with animals they have such sweet kindred spirits. I have currently moved back home to finish school but need a job part time or full time because I do school online. And I can work nights or early mornings I’m my home our pets have been trained to ask to go outside. I would prefer to work at someone’s home just because our house is new and still is missing some fencing

About: We're a happy, clean, educated, highly experienced husband & wife housesitting team who love caring for animals and homes together. We've had steady stream of our own pets constantly for our entire lives up until last November, 2024 when we re-entered the world of full-time housesitting. Prior to that, we'd been full-time pet sitters for several years as well as occasional sitters, boarders, and pet fosterers. My husband graduated in zoology and so has that additional expertise. After graduating with his zoology degree, he continued on to medical school where he earned his Optometry degree & license. He left his solo practice in 2021 & now is employed as a full-time Optometrist who works long hours everyday. I am the primary housesitter who remains throughout the day and night with my husband joining me to help housesit during the nights. We have a great deal of experience with dogs and cats predominantly, but also have experience with other pets such as birds, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, lizards, snakes, chickens, fish, turtles, cows, pigs, horses, turkeys, etc. Animals and pets have always been a big part of our lives. Although not formally degreed, I studied animal accupressure, grooming, massage, nutrition, health, exercise, psychology, and training for decades. I'm constantly learning and love the time I spend with each and every pet. We have a great deal of experience in taking care of homes and properties as well. We're very accessible, easy-going, young-at-heart, responsible, dependable, yet also playful and patient. We're very clean and like to keep things tidy, fresh, healthy, and clean. We cherish our time in your homes with your pets and do all we can to be considerate, respectful, enjoyable guests in your home. We strive for repeat sits and so try to be good guests that you'll want to invite back time and time again to care for your home and pets while you're away. We can offer a variety of additional services related to the care of your pets and home if desired. We look forward to getting to meet you! We have returned to doing housesitting full time and have done it full time since last November, 2024. Although we like the "one-and-done" petsits, we especially strive for repeat sits. We prefer longer sits, but will consider shorter ones to fill in any availability gaps we have in our schedule. We only do housesits in the owner's home for overnight sits that are 2 nights and longer. We prefer longer sits. We do our best to be good guests so you'll invite us back again and again.

About: Growing up on a farm surrounded by large dogs and with parents who volunteered at Hogle Zoo, I developed a deep-seated belief that animals and wildlife are an extension of our family, deserving of our protection and care. I fostered a profound respect for all our animal friends. My hands-on experience further expanded through working with horses in equine therapy and helping my partner in her grooming salon, where I've become proficient in bathing and drying both dogs and cats. This role has sharpened my ability to recognize and respond to the subtle sensitivities of these animals, enhancing an intuitive connection with them that doesn’t stop giving. As a dedicated pet parent to my own dogs and cats, I consistently apply a compassionate and knowledgeable approach to animal welfare. I’m a Private Chef by trade and have a lot of open availability. I travel for work and can travel to you, too! A lot of my work entails paperwork I do from home, making frequent check-ins possible and welcome. As a dedicated in-home pet sitter, I offer a comprehensive and compassionate approach to animal care, ensuring your pets thrive in their familiar environment. My experience includes professional grooming(bathing and drying only. Please refer out for complete groom), allowing me to maintain your pet's comfort and hygiene. I feel really confident in caring for animals who may experience stress in new situations. I can providing a calm and reassuring presence. Beyond direct pet care, I provide meticulous attention to detail. Home is Heaven. I’m a jack of all trades and your pet sitter could include light yard care, cleaning and professional meal prep to ensure your home remains, BETTER and MORE COMFORTABLE than you left it. My commitment is to deliver reliable, stress-free care, treating your pets and home with the utmost respect and diligence. Who knows? In a time that is desperate for community, maybe we’ll make life long friends in the process.

FAQs for House Sitting - Bauer

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bauer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bauer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bauer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
