About: I grew up on a farm and have always had animals and especially dogs and cats. I am a retired nurse and have gone from caring for people to caring for pets. I will love and care for your babies while you are away. I am a retired nurse who has a lot of free time. I have friends who are pet/house sitters. I love animals and I have kept and cared for family and friends pets while owners were away. Never worry about your pets again when you need to be away. I have a golden retriever that has a super sweet disposition and he had been around other pets and plays well with others. I will only care for 1 pet at a time unless pets come from same family.
“Amber and her precious family welcomed Tucker and were so attentive. Amber sent me a few pictures and had him all ready for pick up. He seemed to have had a great time:). I will definitely book with Amber again!”

“Lindsey is amazing! She took great care of Kai and texted us how things were going while we were gone. She also took some pics throughout her day there! So sweet and kind!!!!”

“I found a pet sitter for my dog Bruno on the Rover app while we enjoyed Orange Beach. Michael took great care of Bruno. His house is spacious and has a nice backyard, which was great for Bruno to play in. The communication was excellent; he sent me photos and updates. When I came back to pick up Bruno, he was very happy. Michael and his two dogs have amazing energy. Thanks, Michael! I definitely recommend him to other pet owners.”

“Jen was fantastic with Olive! He loved playing with her dogs and swimming. He was absolutely exhausted that evening and the next day from all the fun (which is no small feat for a working cocker!). Jen was super responsive and gave great updates throughout the day! We will definitely be sending Olive to stay/play with Jen again!”

About: I've had dogs all my life, all sizes and I have experience working as a vet tech. I have a large breed and a small breed dog myself and they get along with other dogs. I can also keep them separated if that's preferred. I work from my home so I'm usually available most days. Sometimes I'm not available for some services depending on my schedule. Just check for availability please. My dogs are crate trained but spend very little time in their crates. They're high energy and need exercise and playtime. I feed them 3 times a day.
“Taylor was amazing. We’ve never used doggy daycare and quite honestly was pretty nervous, but Taylor made your minds settle she’s super professional and very trust worthy. We will definitely be using her again. And gained a friendship in the process.”

“Kristin's care is like home away from home. We could tell that it was a good experience as Bella had a very waggy tail :) Will reach out again when we need daycare or an overnight stay!”

“We loved Tammie! She was excited to meet Rudy and took the time to get to know him at the Meet and Greet. She went above and beyond to make it a special day for him. We will definitely rebook when we’re in town again!”

“Robin seemed to take very good care of Charlie. Charlie looked very happy when I picked her up. Robin said she played with another dog, and was pretty content to relax back in our RV. It was great to have her out of our RV for a while, so we could explore the area. Her home is not too far from the State Beach where we were staying. Thank you Robin and thx for the wonderful pictures and updates!”

About: Hi, I’m a lifelong animal lover and recently retired, which means I have the time, energy, and heart to dedicate to your pet’s needs. Whether it’s a leisurely walk, a check-in while you’re at work, or keeping your pet company while you’re away, I’m here to help. I’ve always had dogs and cats in my life and truly understand the importance of patience, care, and attention—especially for pets who are a little shy or take time to warm up. I’m pet-centric in my approach, which means I prioritize your furry friend’s comfort, routines, and happiness. Based in Fairhope, Alabama, I offer dog walking, drop-ins, and house sitting with open availability. If you’re looking for someone reliable, kind, and experienced, I’d love to meet you and your pet! Following the lead of your dog, and your wishes, we will create a fun routine of walking, exploring and play throughout the day to maximize our time together. I will care for your pet as if it were my own: with love and respect, and lots of fun. I will walk with your pet at their pace, stopping for smells or running full speed ahead.
About: “Unlike many sitters, I’m home all day which means your dog gets consistent attention, care, and companionship. I maintain a peaceful, structured home environment and only take a limited number of dogs to ensure each one receives personalized love and supervision.” “Being home full-time allows me to easily incorporate pet care into my daily routine. Your dog will be included in our day with regular walks, playtime, and constant supervision in a relaxed, loving home environment “Dogs in my care enjoy a spacious, fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor play and exercise. I live in a quiet, safe neighborhood ideal for stress-free walks, and I’m located less than a mile from Loxley Municipal Park for extra activity and enrichment opportunities.”
“So glad I found Samantha on Rover! She helped me out at the last minute. She was super kind and lovingly accommodated my dog. She even took pictures throughout his stay and gave me a good update at the end of it. My dog was very happy over there!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 229 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Barnwell. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Barnwell commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 229 sitters in Barnwell, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
