“I can’t say enough wonderful things about Justine. I had a sitter no show the morning of my trip and was honestly panicking. Justine stepped in with only a couple of hours’ notice, came right over, asked smart, caring questions, and immediately put me at ease. My two rabbits, Bunbun and Baby, have very unique care needs, and I’m normally pretty nervous leaving them. Justine was attentive, communicative, and so thorough. She kept me updated every step of the way, check-ins, updates, and tons of photos every day. She even brought my garbage can back in from the street, which was so thoughtful. What impressed me most is that Bunbun and Baby seemed to warm up to her faster than they usually would with someone new, which says everything about her calm, patient energy. I felt completely comfortable having her in my home and for the first time, I was able to just enjoy my vacation without worry. I’m so genuinely grateful Justine was there. She turned what could have been a disaster into such a positive experience. Reliable, compassionate, and above and beyond. Thank you, Justine!”

“Exceptional Doggy Drop-in Experience! I recently had the pleasure of using Sarah’s services to care for my two dogs, Snow and Cara, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I met her, I knew my girls were in good hands. Sarah took exceptional care of Snow and Cara, going above and beyond in every aspect. She made sure they got plenty of exercise by engaging them in playtime which they thoroughly enjoyed. In addition, she took the time to groom my dogs who were shedding at the time, ensuring they looked their best. What truly stood out to me was how Sarah reinforced their training. She maintained their routines and commands, which helped keep their behavior consistent and well-mannered. I would love to use Sarah’s services in the future and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a reliable, caring, and professional dog-sitter. Snow and Cara are grateful for her exceptional service. Thank you, for taking such wonderful care of my girls!”

About: Dogs and cats have been a part of my whole life! Having just moved to California from New Hampshire, I wanted to give Rover a try to meet people, meet some furry friends, and get some exercise in. I have worked previously in animal shelters and fully believe that animals all deserve to be loved and cared for, no matter what. I have experience with selective dogs as well. I’m very accommodating to whatever you and your fur babies need to be safe and comfortable! * I’m available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am to 4pm * Rover is my full-time job so I’m very flexible * Holidays may vary Owning a reactive dog myself, I understand how important precarious measures are! I will do whatever is needed to ensure the best care for your fur babies! Whether it be a walk, play time in a fenced area, or a couch cuddle to give them some company!
About: I currently work with Police K9s and I’ve had almost all breeds of dogs growing up, from 5 lbs to 110 lbs. I am good with all dogs regardless of breed or size. I currently work with Police K9 and in a program with CHP, therefore I cannot do Wednesdays or mornings I am training, but any other day I am available! I would not offer services at my house due to my yard not being fenced in but I can watch your pet from anywhere else.
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals since 1997; from dogs/cats-reptiles/fish & I was taught to treat them with just as much care, love & respect that you’d give a child. I’m familiar with their care, needs & certain levels of training. That being said, I hope to have the chance to meet yours & care for them while you're away! I currently work from home & have had some extra time on my hands. I recently came across Rover & thought it would be a perfect way to invest my spare time in an intentional/purposeful & financially lucrative way. I can work around most schedules, whether that’s weekends, early mornings or evenings. The best part about animals is that they’re all so different & unique in their own special way; which calls for a different level of care from pet-pet, not 1 animal is the same in my opinion. All that to say, I’m willing to adapt to anything/everything your pet may need while you’re away & hope to hear from you soon!

About: I've had dogs my entire life so I have experience with dogs of all ages. I currently have a dog and two cats, and I'm also trusted in my neighborhood and amongst family and friends as someone to watch their animals when they're gone. Im a full time college student but I usually always have my own animals in my bedroom with me, sitting under (or on top of) my desk while I work. I have a friendly dog who absolutely loves play dates, so your dog would never get bored. My backyard is quite large so the dogs have tons of room to run around and play. The fences are regularly checked for holes under them to ensure our dog can't get out. I also have two large cat cages in my home where each of my cats sleep, but if needed, they can sleep in the same cage and the other one can be used to provide your pet some privacy, with their own food and water dishes. I have many many many interactive cat toys so even while i'm working, they can play with the toys that are attached to my desk and walls, along with scratching posts.
About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have extensive hands-on experience caring for pets with different needs. I currently have two cats, one of whom has asthma and requires daily medication, so I’m very comfortable administering meds and monitoring symptoms. I also have a German Shepherd and recently rescued a puppy I found under an overpass who was battling parvo, which made me especially well-versed in careful medication administration, recovery care, and providing patient, attentive support. I’m currently unemployed and have all the time and opportunity in the world to care for your fur babies! I understand how important routine is as well in our pets lives, I make sure I do my rounds every morning and evening with all my critters! my number one priority with any pet is to give them my full undivided love, care, and attention that they deserve. i will do anything in my power to make any pet feel safe and comfortable with me! It’s very important to meet other pets and animals on their level, make it an equal and easy calm experience meeting a new person!
“Emily was very friendly and easy to work with, and she took great care of our kitty while we were away for a week. She sent us reassuring and helpful updates, and we came home to a happy cat and a clean “cat room” as well. We’ve already rebooked for our next trip, and would definitely recommend her.”

“Jasmine is hands-down the best pet sitter! She took wonderful care of our three cats, stayed in touch with updates, and built a warm bond with them right away. It's clear she truly loves animals, and we trust her completely with our pets and home. Highly recommended!”

About: Since I was a little girl, I have always had a ♥ for animals. I've cared for dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and a mini pig. A plus for me is that I have been a foster for Animal Rescue of Tracy for 10+ years now, so I have experience with all sorts of dogs and cats, from those who need special medication to rambunctious dogs to newborn kittens. There is no animal you can give me that I will not love, pet, cuddle, and care for. 🌷 I am a responsible 25 year old who has been caring for animals my whole life. This is my first Rover account, but I have been pet sitting in the Tracy community for 10 years. I live on 1.5 acres with 25 + animals, so I am very experienced and would love to help out with your furry friends! :) I'm currently working part-time with the majority of my work being remote so I will have plenty of time to care for your pets! 🏡 I live on 1.5 acres of property so your dogs will have plenty of space to run around, play, and relieve themselves. Depending on your dog's friendliness, they can remain inside with my two small dogs, or I can keep them in our supervised dog run area just for them. If you have cats, they will be contained in their own area in my house so that they do not run and hide, as new environments tend to cause anxiety. 🏠 If house sitting, I make the animals feel as comfortable as possible to ease any stress of their owners being away. Pets & play are always guaranteed. I also send pictures everyday & when asked! ⭐ My routine is simple: follow your directions on feeding, walking, medication if needed, and I will handle the other most important part: giving them lots of love!

“Gabriela was very attentive to my dogs. Made me feel much better that they were still getting attention each day and they were not losing out on anything. I will definitely be using her in the future for trips and she was very responsive and followed all directions as requested. She was a pleasure to meet before the trip and have the dogs meet her and she was happy to get down on their level and help them to get to know her and they got more and more comfortable as the days progressed. Thank you so much Gabriela we appreciate you so very much!”

I have used Kimberly quite a few times to take care of my dog while I was out of town. My dog loved her and was so happy to see her every time she came. Kimberly was incredibly flexible working with me with the many changes I had to make due to family situation with a new baby coming. I will definitely be using Kimberly for all of my dog sitting needs. I would highly recommend her to anybody.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
