Emberly was spectacular. She helped us out with very short notice, taking care of three dogs that can get pretty rowdy. She handled our sick puppy with the care, love, and affection Dottie needed, even though Emberly didn’t know until the night before how much specialized care Dottie would need. My wife and I greatly appreciate Emberly’s help, and we would definitely use her again.

My first time using Rover and Lenny did a great job taking care of my dog Rocco. It was so nice to be able to keep him at home in his element opposed to taking him to the kennel. Rocco seemed very happy and content when I returned from my vacation.

Ashleigh was a wonderful sitter!! Not only did she take fantastic care of the dogs, she also took care of some issues that happened at the house while we were gone. I appreciate everything she did before she left the house at the end of the booking. She’s exactly what you would want taking care of your animals. I will definitely be seeking her out again in the future.!! Thank you so much, Ashleigh!!

Thank you so much for taking such great care of our pets! We had a two week trip to Europe and it was so nice to be so far away and not have to worry. Charity even handled our AC dying during our trip and sorting out a repair man and keeping everyone cool and comfortable in the summer heat. Can’t recommend highly enough!

About: Hi! My name is Marae. A little about me:   I grew up in a home filled with a love for all animals, especially dogs and cats. From feeding and grooming to playtime, giving medication and comforting them when they were anxious, I learned early on how to understand their unique personalities and needs. Because animals have always been such an important part of my life, working with them feels completely natural to me and I truly enjoy it!   When I worked at a pet boarding facility, I cared for a wide variety of dogs and cats, each with their own routines, personalities, and preferences. I always made it a priority to ensure every pet felt safe, comfortable, and loved while their families were away. I treat every animal as if they were my own.   I’m also a proud cat mom to three: Luna Storm, Chanse the Rapper (he talks a lot, hence the name), and Giovanni Grey.   My schedule is flexible and I am normally available even with little notice. I would love the opportunity to care for your pet soon! Im currently working a full time work at home job. Im typically off by 3:00pm but can be off earlier if need be! :) I also have a lot of time open on the weekends. I have a lot of experience taking care of others animals! Something I'm most proud of is being able to read body language and reactions from each pets as each are so different!

About: Former dog mom turned professional pet spoiler. I've been owned by two dogs and regularly watch friends' pets. You'll get LOTS of pictures, adorable updates, and the occasional letter directly from your buddy while you're away. I do work full time, but close to home so I'm out about 9 hours. I'm happy to take on pups that are potty trained. They get breaks and walks in the morning and breaks and walk all evening and night. When I watch dogs, my social life is limited, as I find much more joy loving on your little ones. 😍 I have open availability and am able to watch your pet in my home or yours. I'll treat your dog like my own, spoil them, give them all the love, or as much space as they choose. Your baby is allowed on the furniture and in bed, if they like, and you allow. We follow your rules and your routine, as much as possible, and any diversions from routine will be communicated.

About: I recently left a 16 year career where I grew from caseworker to supervisor to manager. I decided to pursue opportunities to care for animals, as animals are my true passion. I grew up on a small farm where we had cows, horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, canaries and hamsters. I have always loved animals and enjoy caring for them. I look forward to caring for your beloved pets. I recently left my full time job to explore pet care services. I will do all I can to be available for you and your pets’ needs at anytime. I can provide care in my home, or stay in your home, wherever your pets are most comfortable. I would be able to stay the night in your home if you prefer, or stop by your home as you request. This would be determined by what is best for you and your pets.

Kathy has been absolutely wonderful to work with! I have two dogs, a senior Vizsla and young Boston Terrier. I hired Kathy to pet sit for three days, several hours each day. Kathy went above and beyond to make my pets feel comfortable! She engaged with them, sent pictures throughout the day and let me know how they were doing. She also had great communication prior to the booking. I will definitely hire Kathy again.

About: I have 26 years of experience caring for pets in shelters, boarding facilities, training environments, and veterinary settings. I’ve had the privilege of working with animals of all ages, personalities, and needs, and I truly enjoy building trust with each one. My approach is calm, patient, and gentle, with a focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for as if they were my own. Pet care fits well into my routine, as I work at a veterinary office daily until 5 PM. I am available for evening visits, walks, and drop-in care during the week, and overnight care is also available on weekdays as long as I am able to attend my work shift the following day. I carefully plan my schedule to ensure pets receive consistent, reliable, and attentive care. I provide pet care exclusively in my client’s home to ensure pets remain comfortable in their familiar environment and daily routine. Emberly was so great with our 3 beagles! I cannot say enough about how much our babies loved her, and how confident we felt with them in her care. Our family booked Emberly to stay in our home with our pups, including a senior beagle with epilepsy and 2 more active pups. She quickly assessed the individual needs of each pup, even asking if she could bring a camera to monitor them in their kennels while she was away at work, to ensure our older beagle wasn't having seizures etc. Emberly sent frequent "pupdates", including photos, and a description of their day. She is simply THE BEST!

FAQs for House Sitting - Baltimore

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Baltimore on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,269 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Baltimore. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Baltimore walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Baltimore maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Baltimore choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Baltimore. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
