“Ariana did an absolutely stellar job looking after our two cats. When we had to leave home immediately due to unforeseen circumstances, she was able to instantly take over the cat-care, so they didn't have any sort of disruption to their schedules. She communicated perfectly, handled what troubling circumstances arose during the care period, came to the house in the middle of a tornado watch, and our normally quite-standoffish cat absolutely adored her. An absolute lifesaver!”

About: I’ve dedicated my life to caring for animals and helping their families feel confident while they’re away. Since I was a teenager, I’ve gained decades of hands-on experience with animals of all ages, sizes, personalities, and needs. What began with caring for my own pets and helping family and friends grew into professional pet sitting goals of working for Rover, on top of my rescue and advocacy efforts. My experience goes well beyond basic feeding and walks. I’ve cared for puppies, energetic young dogs, senior pets, large breeds, cats, multiple-pet households, and animals requiring extra patience or special attention. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed care instructions, and caring for injured or recovering animals, so you can feel reassured that your pet’s individual needs will be carefully followed. I’ve also cared for horses, goats, chickens, ducks, and other farm animals and livestock. Over the years, I’ve helped animals that were lost, injured, neglected, or simply needed someone to care, including personally rescuing and nursing animals back to health. I have a special place in my heart for animals who need an advocate, and I’m committed to providing them with patient, compassionate support. I believe excellent pet care means noticing the little things. I pay close attention to behavior, body language, appetite, routines, and changes that could indicate a pet isn’t feeling like themselves. I take time to learn each animal’s personality and provide the affection, exercise, playtime, patience, or quiet companionship they need to feel safe and comfortable while their family is away. I also keep families informed so they can enjoy greater peace of mind throughout their time apart. I understand the trust involved in inviting a pet sitter into your home. I treat every client’s home, belongings, privacy, and personal space with the utmost respect, striving to leave your home just as you left it—or better. You can feel confident knowing your pets are receiving personalized, attentive care and your home is in responsible hands. I’m currently completing my Pet First Aid and CPR certification, insured and bonded, and committed to continuing my pet-care education. Whether I’m caring for a rambunctious puppy, a senior who needs a gentler pace, or a pet who misses their person, my goal is to provide dependable, safe, and compassionate care tailored to each animal while giving you the reassurance you deserve. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily life and something I intentionally make time for as I care for my own pets, as well as friends and family. My priority is providing dependable, attentive care for all animals entrusted to me. I plan my days carefully around each pet’s established routine, including feeding times, walks, potty breaks, medications, playtime, companionship, and any special instructions their family provides. I understand how important consistency can be, especially for senior pets, puppies, pets taking medication, or animals who may feel anxious when their family is away. Because caring for animals is a priority in my schedule rather than an afterthought, I can give each pet the time and attention they deserve. I also allow time for updates and photos so you can feel connected to your pets and confident that they’re happy, safe, and well cared for while you’re away. I believe pets are most comfortable when their familiar routines are kept as consistent as possible, so I follow each family’s instructions carefully and tailor my care to the individual pet. That includes feeding, fresh water, walks and potty breaks, medications, playtime, exercise, and plenty of affection or quiet companionship—whatever makes your pet happiest and most secure. I pay close attention to behavior, appetite, energy level, and anything that seems unusual. Safety is always a priority, including securely checking doors, gates, leashes, and the home before I leave. I also provide updates and photos so you can relax knowing how your pets are doing while you’re away. Just as importantly, I understand that I’m a guest in your home. I respect your property, belongings, privacy, and personal space, clean up after myself and your pets, and strive to leave your home just as you left it—or better. My goal is for you to return to happy, well-cared-for pets and a home that has been treated with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

About: Hello, I am an active individual who likes being out in nature and exploring the local outdoor areas. I would enjoy the opportunity to help care for your pet and would enjoy the company as well. I am employed full time as a PhD student at Cornell and am seeking a side job that I could enjoy as much as my current job. I live by myself in a quiet, smoke-free home with no other animals or children. I am in a pedestrian-friendly area with excellent scenery for walking. Because much of my work schedule is flexible, I will have time throughout the day to take care and spend time with your pet. I also have more availability on weekends. As an animal lover, I like to interact with dogs through play (tossing a ball, playing tug-of-war with a toy, running around outside) and relaxing with them and giving them pets.

About: I'm a Cornell Animal Science graduate. I've grown up with dogs and cats my whole life, and trained 2 of those dogs by myself. I interned at a rescue horse ranch between high school and college, where I helped care for 7 horses and 9 dogs. My academic experience includes canine and feline behavioral and health courses, and research experience caring for and socializing dogs in research studies. Specific services: Housesitting: I have my own car, and can provide morning/evening care, as well as a 1-2hr lunch visit, depending on pet's routine and needs. I have no weekend commitments. Dog-walking: I am available for walks before 10a, between 12 and 2p, and after 6p. I have a flexible work schedule, so exact timing of visits can be adjusted (ie. midday walk at 11a or 3p, instead of 12-2 window). Drop-in visits: I am available for either once or twice daily feeding/walking visits, depending on distance from Ithaca, and pet's routine and needs. Timing same as dog-walking.

About: I grew up in a household full of animals and have been pet sitting for neighbors for as long as I have been old enough. I've had dogs, guinea pigs, a rabbit, chickens and numerous other small creatures who I have loved over the years. My profile picture is of my parent's golden doodle! I am currently a physical therapy student at Ithaca College who is spending the summer here in Ithaca and looking to dog walk/sit or pet sit! I am not planning on doing any boarding of animals because of my household's allergies but I am available for house sitting, drop-in visits and walking!

About: While you're away, rest assured that your dog and home are in excellent hands... I take care of both. You'll receive photos and updates, and your pet will enjoy walks, fresh water, meals, belly rubs, playtime, and more. No stress for you, and no stress for your furry friend, who will continue their routine as usual. I would love to meet you and your dog, get to know their environment, and see if we're a good fit. I have lifelong experience with dogs, including my 16-year companion, Jack, now gone, always in my heart... I understand the importance of peace of mind when traveling, knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. A happy pup means a happy owner, and peace of mind is priceless. I primarily work from home... I create my schedule based on needs and have flexibility throughout the day... it is a no-brainer to do this. About: I have 5 years of pet care experience and truly enjoy spending time with dogs. I have cared for dogs for family, friends, and neighbors, including walking, feeding, playing, giving fresh water, cleaning up after them, and keeping them comfortable while their owners are away. I am patient, gentle, and responsible, and I always try to follow each pet parent’s instructions carefully. I understand that every dog has its own personality, routine, and comfort level, so I take time to make pets feel safe and cared for. Pet care fits well into my daily routine because I am usually home and able to give pets regular attention throughout the day. I can help with feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and check-ins. I try to keep each pet’s routine as close as possible to what they are used to at home. I have a fenced-in house with 4 bedrooms, so I can safely keep pets separated when needed. This is helpful for pets who need quiet space, slow introductions, or extra comfort. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully for feeding, walks, medications, and routines. I keep the home clean, safe, and calm, and I make sure pets are supervised and comfortable during their stay.

About: I have had dogs my entire life and have grown up in Ann Arbor, Michigan (go blue😉)! I’ve trained all my families dogs, have never hired a trainer. I have also pet sat for neighbours and family friends, and for extended periods of time. Cant wait to meet your little babies :) As a graduate student at Cornell, my schedule gives me flexibility throughout the week to incorporate pet care into my routine. I’m available for morning and evening visits, walks, and check-ins, as well as additional availability on weekends. I’m happy to work with each pet’s established routine and can plan my schedule in advance to make sure they receive consistent, reliable care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. I carefully follow instructions for feeding, walks, medications if needed, playtime, and any other specific needs. I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention and exercise, keep their space clean and comfortable, and provide regular updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away.

“Mariana was absolutely amazing with my pets and we would use her again in a heartbeat! She came over for an initial visit and was there for an hr meeting my pets. My one dog is a rescue and has a lot of behavioral issues. Mariana worked well with her and taught me many things other dog trainers didn't. Then when she watched my pets she was so caring with them and sent me daily updates with pictures and videos. We came home to happy pets and she even swept and picked up after them. This was our first time using rover and we couldn't me more pleased. ????”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs my entire life. My friends and family have been relying on me to walk and feed their dogs for years! Cuddles are also a must! May or may not talk to them like they are babies (which they 100% are) I currently work full-time at an elementary school, so this is only a weekend gig. That being said, I love going to watch and walk dogs of all kind!! Typically when I’m walking a dog, I make sure the dog goes at its own pace. It’s the dogs walk, not mine. That being said, I do what’s necessary to keep them from harm. I also will play with your dog whether it is just a walk-session or a full house stay.

About: I grew up on a farm so I've always been around animals. I have experience with dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, etc. Animals don't ask for much so we should try to give them the best life possible. I am not afraid to get dirty and clean up if your animal has an accident. I have a lot of availability right now. I don't have a 9 to 5 job so I can try to fit walks or visits to your schedule. I will double check any safety concerns you have. Whether your dog can be in yard by themselves or if you car is allowed outside at all. If I'm not sure of something I will always ask you first before I do anything.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
