“Bianca did a great job watching our 3 dogs overnight. She did a great job sending pictures, was attentive and provided updates. We will certainly use Bianca again for our dog care needs.”

“I recently had the pleasure of having Tia as a pet sitter for my two dogs, Darrow and Ozzy, while I was away for 10 days. From the very beginning, Tia was incredibly professional and attentive. She provided daily pictures and updates, which gave me peace of mind and allowed me to see just how happy and well-cared for my dogs were during my absence. Tia went above and beyond in her care, taking the time to play with Darrow and Ozzy, ensuring they were not only fed, but also entertained and loved. It's clear she has a genuine affection for animals, and it showed in the way she interacted with them. When I returned home, both dogs were in excellent spirits, and it was obvious that they had formed a bond with her. I highly recommend Tia to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter. Thank you, Tia, for taking such great care of Darrow and Ozzy!”

“Michelle loved my pets as if they were her own. She was attentive and communicative with me while weekend. She has sweet and loving person. I would highly recommend.”

About: I’ve been pet-sitting for years, mostly with large dogs and a few cats ranging through all ages, though I’m new to using Rover! I love connecting with animals and tend to make friends with every pet I meet. I also have a mini poodle of my own, so I understand how important it is to know your pet is in caring hands. Pet-sitting is something I genuinely enjoy, and I treat every animal like family. I am on summer break home from college. So my days are almost completely free. I work Thursday mornings at a restaurant, but that’s it. My days are already filled with driving from LeClaire all the way to Davenport visiting friends and family or running errands. Fitting in a visit to your pet would be my priority and easily done. My Own dog is yard trained and extremely friendly (she doesn’t bite, she’s yard trained, She doesn’t have accidents in the house, She’s very submissive and friendly to other dogs, and rarely even barks). I spent a lot of my time playing with my dog, taking her on walks and I would do the same for any other animal. besides getting a dog it’s activity in, I also love cuddles and giving pets to the dogs and cats.
“Drew was absolutely amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our three dogs while we were on vacation. From the moment we connected, he was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. He made sure our dogs were taken out regularly, kept them on their routine, and truly treated them like his own. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. Drew stayed overnight each night, which meant the dogs were comfortable and our home was well cared for too. On top of that, he kept the house in excellent condition, honestly, we came back to everything just as we left it (if not better!). He was also very responsive and kept us updated with messages and photos, which we really appreciated while we were away. It’s clear Drew genuinely cares about animals and goes above and beyond for the families he works with. We’re so grateful for the care he provided and would absolutely trust him again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for someone reliable, respectful, and truly great with pets, I highly recommend booking Drew, you won’t regret it!”

“Riley was amazing with our dog last week! She was incredibly attentive and communicative throughout the entire time, sending regular updates and photos. She even offered to stay with our pup during a big storm, even though it wasn’t required. That extra care and thoughtfulness meant so much to us. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter!”

“Gabi did everything we asked her to do, and more! She did such an amazing job taking care of our dog. We knew we could trust her and relax on our trip and she did not disappoint. Would use her again in a heartbeat!”
About: Hi! I’ve been around dogs my whole life and had one of my own growing up. I’m experienced with walks, playtime, bathing, and general care, and I love spending time getting to know each dog’s unique personality. While i’ve worked most with smaller dogs, I’m comfortable and open to caring for dogs of all sizes and breeds. I bring a gentle, caring approach to make sure your pup feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Currently I am working part time, my schedule varies but usually I am working 2nd shift in the beginning of the week and working 1st shift during the weekends. I am more than happy to discuss dates and times and work around my typical schedule to meet your needs of pet care to the best of my abilities! Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. I take time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and boundaries so they always feel secure in my care. Whether i’m in your home or out on a walk, I make sure your pet is safe, supervised, and happy at all times. I treat every home with respect and care, keeping things clean, tidy, and just the way you left them. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your pets are loved and cared for like family.
About: Senior care experience! I've adopted multiple dogs at 10+ yrs old from the local pounds and made sure they had the best senior care experience possible. I currently have 2 dogs, both spayed and absolutely love other dogs. A Corgi (Ruby) who is 9 and a Maltipoo (Joplin) who will be 2 this year. The poo was adopted from a kill shelter in TX (and one before her from the same area as well). We've lost 4 dogs in 2 yrs due to old age, 3 within 6 months. Hard pill to swallow but I love them all and would LOVE to love yours too! I am a stay-at-home dog mom. I have all the time in the world to take care of your babies! Believe me when I say they will come home all tuckered out :) I have a fenced in back yard and 2 VERY friendly dogs to keep your pups very much entertained! In your home (if a dog sitter in home is required) you can expect all of their daily schedules to be fulfilled.

“Luke was our Christmas Miracle! Our puppy tore his ACL last minute before our family trip and if Luke hadn’t been willing to house sit and take care of our puppy we would not have been able to see our family this year. He followed our vets strict med schedule and crate rest. Found ways to still give Vinny some cuddle time and manage our other dog to not rile him up. Patiently took him out on the leash to do his business while Vinny was loopy and hobbling even in the rain, dark and cold. He sent pics and updates multiple times a day because he knew I was a nervous mama leaving my sick puppy with a new human. And he left our house clean and tidy. Just could not recommend him more. Amazing!”

“Shannon is a fantastic loving caregiver. We had a little change in our schedule and she was able to accommodate. We will definitely book her again to take care of our Bailey girl. She kept us updated and sent pictures to help us feel at ease. This was the first time we used a pet sitter other than just friends coming over and check on our dog for us. What a lifesaver. She is definitely a true professional thank you so much Shannon for what you did for our Bailey girl. I actually think she may like you better than us.🤭”

“Abby was amazing! She checked in daily and I was never worried that the pets were in good hands. She was very responsive via text. FAQs for House Sitting - Argo
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 155 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Argo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Argo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Argo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Argo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Argo. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
