About: Growing up I always had dogs and would constantly watch dogs 101 and vet shows. I learned their language to better connect with them especially if they have anxiety. Right now I am raising 3 cats and caring for my elderly dog who has seizures so I know how to handle a situation when it come to it along with schedule medications. My dog also only chooses me to cuddle with during thunderstorms so if your pup has a fear of storms while you're gone you can rest assure I'm making them feel as safe as possible. I have pretty big gaps between my day schedule, between school and work. I have time for morning, afternoon and night visits. I usually get out of work 830 the latest so medication will be able to be given before too late in the night In the client's home I would normally make sure I can see their pet at all times to guarantee no accidents happen on my watch. I also depending on the breed and personality of the dog will walk them or give them enrichment more often as needed.

“Megan was an excellent sitter. I need help last minute because I had to be in the hospital during the storm for 48 hours straight. Megan made sure my dogs were well cared for with meals, walks, and lots of love/attention. One of my dogs also needed medication and she was able to provide. Would love to have her back!”

About: I have loved and cared for dogs of all sizes and breeds for several years. Friends and family regularly rely on me to feed, walk, play with, and look after their pets. I am highly responsible, energetic, and dedicated to making sure your dog feels safe, happy, and loved while you are away. Whether they need a long walk or some cozy couch cuddles, I’ve got it covered! I am currently a student with classes only on Mondays and Wednesdays. Aside from my Sunday night assignment deadlines, my schedule is incredibly open and flexible. This gives me plenty of dedicated time throughout the week and weekends to fully focus on, walk, and play with your beloved pups! I specialize in caring for pets directly in the comfort of your own home, where they feel most safe and secure. While I do have a fully fenced backyard and can crate dogs if absolutely necessary, I prefer traveling to your house to maintain your dog's regular routine, environment, and peace of mind.

About: Hi! My name is Savannah, and I'm a college student pursuing my bachelor's degree in Animal Science with the goal of attending veterinary school to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). I currently work as a veterinary technician at a veterinary clinic, where I've gained hands-on experience with animal health, behavior, and handling pets of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. Whether your dog is big or small, energetic or laid-back, I'm confident in providing safe, compassionate, and attentive care. I'm a very active person, so if your pup enjoys long walks, hikes, or even a run, I'd be happy to keep up with their energy! For pet sitting and boarding, my husband—who also has experience working with dogs—is available to help. Having two experienced animal lovers means your pets receive even more attention, care, and companionship while you're away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your furry family members, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions—I look forward to meeting you and your pets! Me and my husband both board and sit for dogs. So when one of us aren’t home the other is. We work opposite schedules so your pets will be cared for 24/7. My husband will be assisting with care I take them potty and on walks as much as is requested by the owner. They get to play with our basket of dog toys and I also have cat toys. They can run around and play as much as they want.

Unfortunately, my dog Blue got sprayed by a skunk while we were gone but Sophia made us feel much more at peace. She immediately notified us of the situation, took Blue to the vet, and bathed her. We were very grateful!”

“I’m selective to say the least when finding care for our fur babies, especially now that our 12-yr old pup has various health issues. Our baby girl requires insulin shots x2/day and needs to relieve herself every couple of hours. Did I mention she’s not a fan of said shots and stubborn to boot? And this is where Tory comes in to ease every worry and the crazy guilt we had about leaving her. She was an utter rockstar; I couldn’t have put together a more perfect dog sitter from scratch. Tory followed their routine to a T, and she provided consistent updates and pics. Her communication and quick responses were superb, bar none. And while 100% not expected at all, she cleaned the bed sheets and towels making our return home even less stressful. I want to keep her on retainer 😂 In all seriousness, she was a blessing and just what the doctor ordered for us to have a relaxing vacation while knowing our girls were well taken care of. We can’t give Tory enough praise ♥️”

“Gisselle was AMAZING! We did a meet and greet prior - she was patient and answered all of our questions. Our boy Ace loved her off the bat! Ace was attacked at boarding a couple months back and this was our first time using a house pet sitter and we were nervous. However, we had the best experience. Her communication was consistent - sending texts, photos, and videos of our boy with updates. She was extremely respectful of our home and it was spotless when I arrived home - she even left the light on so it wouldn't be dark! She was amazing and I would recommend her a million times over! We will definitely use her again for house sittings and drop-ins as needed. Gisselle is your girl for all the house sitting needs!!”

I have had a dog by my side my entire life. Whether they are as big as a mastiff or small as a tea-cup chi, I am comfortable with all. I guess you could say I’m a jack of all trades or just a TRUE animal lover. I truly haven’t met a pet yet that I didn’t love. I am so excited to serve you and your furry family! I work full time on a normal 8am to 5pm schedule Monday-Fridays. I am available most weekends and I can accommodate some during the day care if given a weeks notice. About: I’ve been caring for pets through house sitting (several platforms) and personal referrals for over 3 years, including dogs and cats with a variety of needs and personalities including medication distribution. I’m experienced with overnight stays, maintaining routines, feeding schedules, walks, litter care, and providing a calm, consistent environment while owners are away. I also work remotely, so I’m able to be present in the home for extended periods, giving pets more attention, supervision, and stability compared to sitters who are in and out throughout the day. Most of my experience has come from repeat sits and trusted referrals, and I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions to make sure your pet stays happy, safe, and stress-free. I work remotely with a flexible schedule, which allows me to be home for extended periods throughout the day. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, so I’m able to provide consistent attention, regular walks, feeding, and companionship without long gaps. I’m available for overnight stays, drop-ins, and last-minute bookings when needed. I prioritize creating a calm, safe, and consistent environment for every pet. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions, including feeding schedules, routines, and any special needs. I’m attentive to behavior and comfort, and I keep spaces clean and secure at all times. Since I work remotely, pets are rarely left alone for long periods, and I can provide regular updates for peace of mind.

About: I’ve owned pets all my life but have more formal pet sitting experience with colleagues dating back 10 years beginning in undergrad. I have cared for young puppies as well as senior dogs and am able to handle a clear medication regimen. I have lots of patience and am excited to meet your fur baby! I currently am finishing my dissertation so I have a very flexible schedule. I am able to move my writing and work to fit my needs. All I ask is that I received prior notice of cancellation within 24 hours. I am not currently able to board any pets in my home but I am able to stop by, talk pets on walks, and spend some time with them depending on the individual needs. I understand how important it is for my safety and for the pet’s safety to respect their space, pace, and disposition.

About: I live in a very dog-friendly neighborhood right in front of a waterside park, which means plenty of outdoor time, fresh air, and sunshine for your pup. My own sweet older dog, Chop, is very social and well-mannered, so visiting dogs always have a friendly companion by their side. Since I work from home, I’m able to give pets lots of attention throughout the day with frequent walks, playtime, and snuggles. I truly love animals and care for each one as if they were my own Pet care is naturally part of my daily life. I start and end the day with walks by the waterside park right outside my door, and I build in plenty of breaks for outdoor time throughout the day since I work from home. My dog Chop is older and very social, so he loves having other dogs join us for fresh air, sunshine, and play. Whether it’s morning walks, midday potty breaks, or evening snuggles, I make sure pets feel cared for and included in my routine. In my home, pets are treated like family. They’ll have access to plenty of outside time at the waterside park right across the street, daily walks, and a safe, comfortable space to relax inside. My dog Chop is very social and gentle, so visiting dogs always have a built-in buddy. Because I work from home, I can give pets consistent attention, whether that’s playtime, snuggles, or regular potty breaks. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their routine closely, from feeding schedules and walks to any special instructions for training, medication, or comfort. My goal is always to keep pets happy, safe, and relaxed in the environment where they feel most secure.

FAQs for House Sitting - Anahuac

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 591 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Anahuac. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Anahuac walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Anahuac maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Anahuac choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Anahuac. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
