“Thank you, Rebecca! SHE IS a dog whisper! She sat for two non-social dogs that had never been apart from both owners simultaneously. Her in depth knowledge and experience with dogs was recognized at the first meet-n-greet, but even more so with the two days/one night she spent at our home caring for Buddy and Willow. She knows dogs, their temperaments, senses, etc. Rebecca provided us an opportunity to go have a wonderful experience at our youngest daughter's college graduation without the concerns of working schedules around the dogs. She was a 'big piece' of making that all happen, and words cannot express our gratitude for your services!! Highly recommend Rebecca!! One very special lady!!”

“Madelyn came to our home to care for our new puppy while we were out of town. We've never had an in-home sitter and can't say enough positive comments about Madelyn and this experience! She was exceptionally communicative throughout the weekend with numerous updates and pictures. Madelyn clearly has a love of animals that shows in her care and interactions. We highly recommend Madelyn to help you care for your pets when you're away! She will definitely be the first one we contact if we are in need of an in-home pet sitter again!”

“Our review is based on our meet and greet with Michelle. Because of an unforeseen personal situation, we were not able to move forward with this booking. We believe Michelle would be a fabulous sitter and hope she will be given that opportunity.”

“Chanahyah was awesome!!! She paid special attention to Rosie who was especially afraid during a very severe thunderstorm. She held her and cuddled with her to calm her nerves. She also administered meds that Rosie needs to curtail her occasional seizures. In addition, She also took great care of our three cats. She sent lots of pictures so that could see how our furbabies were doing.”

“Connor did a wonderful job house- and pet-sitting for us for last 10 days. He cared for our dog and cat as if they were his own and tended to our small jungle of plants with great attention. We returned home to thriving greenery, happy fur babies, and even a freshly vacuumed house! We will definitely call on Connor again for any future trips that take us away.”

“Louann did a great time taking care of our old girl. She arrived on time. She asked important questions. She sent photos and an update daily. We arrived home to a clean house and a happy pup!”

About: Hi, I’m Krista! Dogs have been the center of my life for more than 15 years. My experience goes far beyond pet sitting—I’ve worked extensively with rescue dogs, including those who have experienced neglect, fear, medical challenges, and behavioral issues. Helping dogs decompress, build trust, and feel safe is something I’m truly passionate about. Whether your dog is energetic, shy, senior, or just enjoys a quiet place to relax, I tailor my care to their individual personality and routine. I understand that every dog is different, and I take the time to earn their trust while making sure they feel loved, comfortable, and secure. I treat every dog as if they were my own. You’ll receive regular photo and video updates, clear communication, and the peace of mind that your pet is receiving one-on-one attention—not just being supervised. My goal is simple: I want your dog to be excited to come back. Whether you need overnight boarding, house sitting, drop-in visits, or walks, you can count on dependable, compassionate care from someone with years of hands-on experience and a genuine love for animals. I look forward to meeting you and your best friend! Caring for animals is already a big part of my everyday life. My schedule is built around feeding, exercising, cleaning up after, and spending quality time with pets. Because I have years of experience with rescue animals, I’m accustomed to maintaining consistent routines and adapting to each pet’s individual needs. Whether it’s morning walks, midday check-ins, evening playtime, or overnight care, I intentionally plan my days to ensure every pet receives the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve. I only accept the number of pets I can comfortably give personalized care, so your pet will never feel like just another booking. I offer flexible care based on what works best for you and your pet. In your home, I do my best to maintain your pet’s normal routine by following feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and plenty of companionship while also treating your home with the utmost respect. For pets staying in my home, I provide a safe, comfortable, low-stress environment where they receive personalized attention, regular exercise, and lots of affection. I intentionally keep my bookings limited so every pet gets the individual care they deserve, whether they’re staying with me or I’m caring for them in the comfort of their own home.
About: I’ve been caring for animals my entire life and have experience with dogs, cats, sick and elderly pets, and kittens. I’ve cared for an elderly dog who needed constant supervision, helped at a cat shelter, and helped nurse sick kittens back to health. I’m patient, attentive, and good at reading animal body language and respecting each pet’s individual personality and boundaries. I love playing and spending time with animals, and I’m comfortable caring for multiple pets with different needs. Most importantly, I’m great at following instructions and will make sure your pets receive the care and attention you want for them. My schedule is generally very flexible, so I’m able to work around your pet’s routine and needs. I don’t have many set weekly commitments, aside from being unavailable Saturday evenings from about 8:00–9:30 PM. I’m happy to care for pets in whatever way best fits their normal routine, whether that means walks, playtime in the yard or house, crating, or simply keeping them company. I’ll follow your instructions closely and make sure I understand your pet’s routines, boundaries, and needs before caring for them. I’m comfortable adjusting my approach to each individual pet.
“Kali did an incredible job of looking after our dogs. We had plenty of updates and photos and the house was left spotless. Will definitely use Kali again and highly recommend her services”

“Amy is really amazing! We’ve experienced horror stories with other pet sitters but you have nothing to worry about with Amy. We could tell she truly loved our pets and would send us pictures on a daily basis. She was on time and quick to reply to us. We will definitely be repeat customers. Highly recommend!”

“Caleb did a great job with our 3 dogs we had one that needed meds twice a day and he did great. I would recommend him to sit your fur babies he stayed at our home and left it clean.”

“Sheridan was the absolute best. We booked her last minute and she immediately got back to me to tell me she’d do it. I’m very anxious about strangers staying in our home and I have never left the dogs with a sitter. She updated us with pictures and videos every day and multiple times in the day. She took care of our home, and my pups were in great hands. She was the sweetest person and I’m so glad we booked her. When we go out of town again we will most definitely be booking with Sheridan again.”

About: I’ve grown up on a farm & helped raise dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, cows, ducks, & hamsters! I have a love for all animals :) I am a law student, so when I’m not in class, I can drop in to care for your pet! I’m also available anytime on weekends! I have a fenced yard for your fur baby to play in. I also have a male (neutered) dog who just turned two. He’s very friendly and trained! I have a large crate if your pet needs to be crated for any reason, otherwise they are welcome to snuggle on my couch or bed with me!!
About: I've been taking care of pups for over 15 yrs now. At first my own pups, but then I would help out friends and family with their pups while they went on vacations and/or traveled for work. My family says I have a kinship with dogs as most dogs naturally get a long with me. Sometimes I can calm the most excitable pup and have them relax in my lap. I work pretty early in the morning. I'm usually home by 10-11 am. I have a pretty good schedule regarding feeding and potty breaks. I tend to take the pups out for walking and play I have a fenced back yard and a dog park near by. I can take your fur babies to the park or on walks regularly. I currently have 2 pups myself, they are well trained and have a pretty steady routine (food and potty breaks). They get along well with other dogs, no biting or aggression. They do set boundaries though. NO humping.
About: I have dogsat for around 3 years now both small dogs like mine and big australian shepards. I care for children as well. 💗 💗 I attend class 10-2 pm. So that gives me plenty of time for morning restroom breaks & check-ins, and im free afterwards (unless im babysitting) I would make sure to not disturb their peace but also make them feel love and give them all the necessary attention they may need.

“Keri was a wonderful sitter for our 4 girls. She followed all instructions and even had to deal with our 3 big storm fear girls in the middle of the night when a thunderstorm moved in. Everyone had their calming treats and got settled in. We communicated frequently since this was her first time to stay at the house and I am a nervous momma. I got pictures and updates and it was wonderful. We will definitely be using her again.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 179 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ambrose. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ambrose walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ambrose maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ambrose choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
