“Thank you David so much. You welcomed our dog, Finxley, with so much grace and can tell you loved and treated her so well. She arrived a bit nervous and left with a big smile, a wagging tail, and even tried to stay a little longer. Her breed can be difficult to manage but you made us feel so at ease with the pictures and nice comments. We felt comfortable with going away and definitely recommend you David, as you will be our go to pup sitter. You are kind and compassionate and that energy is the best to have for this work and in this world. Finxley misses your presence already. Thank you again :)”

About: Hey! I have grown up with dogs, cats, and livestock and have experience as a vet tech. I would love the opportunity to care for your babies! I work from home October through April so have plenty of time to drop in to care for your animals. I also enjoy walking so would love to have you baby tag along for that. Currently have three dogs that go on two walks a day and have outside play time. I would treat your fur baby like it was my own, and of course send you plenty of pictures/videos.

“We are so pleased with the care she provided to our fur baby Wicket. She was responsive, she sent pictures, she sent us updates. He looked so happy he was enjoying his time, which made us very happy. Wicket is scared of storms but he received extra cuddles to calm him. We will definitely recommend her to others and we’ll be using her again. She gave our fur baby love and attention throughout his stay.”

About: I’ve cared for animals for most of my life and have had both dogs and cats throughout the years. I currently have two dogs of my own that I care for every day, so I understand the responsibility, patience, and attention that animals need. I’m experienced in caring for animals and have some experience with basic dog training. I’m no Cesar Millan, but I can certainly work with dogs on commands such as sit, stay, and other basic behaviors. I genuinely care about the comfort and well-being of animals. I even built an air-conditioned doghouse for my own pup because I wanted to make sure he had a comfortable place to relax in Florida’s heat. One of my greatest strengths is being able to recognize that animals depend on us to understand their needs, even though they can’t tell us what’s wrong. I try to put myself in their paws, pay attention to their behavior, and treat every animal with patience, kindness, and respect. I’ll care for your pets the way I would want someone to care for my own. I live and work on my farm, which allows me to be readily available throughout the day to care for the precious fur babies entrusted to me. Because I’m right here on the property, I can provide regular attention, supervision, playtime, and care without the limitations of having to leave for an outside job. I have crates available if that’s what your dog is comfortable with, as well as air-conditioned doghouses and a large, securely fenced yard. I also have 10 acres of property where your dog can enjoy plenty of space to explore and roam with supervision. I have two friendly dogs of my own who would love having some new friends to play and spend time with. It’s truly a little doggy paradise! 🐾

About: I have been taking care of most of my friends dogs including my own for several years. I have also raised a teenage daughter and now have plenty of time working from home for the care of pets regularly. I have plenty of space, no carpets and have a very open schedule dedicated to the care of the dogs I take in! I work from home and have been watching pets for several years. I have a 1.8lb 13 year old chihuahua that does is elderly now so will not effect any other animals. She is used to several dogs being around her and we have plenty of free time to be inattentive and keep a safe environment. I love in a building with a very large dark park and a massive one just up the road I can take them to! I’m not quite ready to add another dog to my family because my current little one is older so I like to take other dogs to watch to get a feel for different breeds and enjoy the activities I can’t with her. I have no carpet in my place and have a pretty easy availability to fit a schedule just let me know!

I work from home full-time, so your dog will have constant attention, regular trail walks, and a structured, clean apartment environment. Since I’ve used Rover as a customer myself, I know how important peace of mind is. I'll def keep you updated with daily photos! I work from home, so I’m available throughout the day for walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship. Your dog will rarely be alone and always feel safe, loved, and happy. About: A few months ago, we lost our boy to cancer. We aren’t ready for a new dog of our own, but love having furry visitors, so I’ve just got myself all set up on Rover. I’m currently a stay-at-home mom. I have time everyday anytime of the day if you need me. I also walk in the morning, afternoon and the evening behind my house I have a lake that’s has a path to walk and it’s 1 mile around the lake. I also have a dog park near by my house. I'm really great with communication. If you have any rules for your fur baby I will follow. I also have three really friendly dogs. I can easily crate your dog if needed (again if that okay with you).

“Tony is BEYOND excellent! I was very concerned leaving my 13 week pup with a stranger for multiple days but Tony was amazing and really sets the gold standard for care. She was incredibly well cared for, I felt she was safe and had all the attention and structure that a puppy needs while being socialized and exposed to new situations in a healthy manner. He even bathed her and did her nails! Could not recommend him enough to anyone in the area for any of your pet needs. Thank you!!”

About: I have always had dogs growing up. I have over 10 years of experience with dog sitting and walking, and I love taking care of them and loving on them. Animals have a way of speaking to my heart and I love to play with them and spoil them with love. They’re great cuddle buddies and are always there for you Even on your worst days. This is my passion and I’m here to help you out with your fur babies! RULES FOR DOG SITTING: I am stating this because of my personal experience. All dogs must be bathed before sitting, and your home must be clean and sanitary including any bedding, sheets, towels I may be using, and all surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms. I am going to be taking care of your fur baby, so I expect them and your home to be cleaned up and sanitary while I am in your home, just as you expect me to keep your fur baby safe, taken care of, and healthy. All supplies required for your dog during their stay must be supplied upon sitting. I am unable to spend money for dog supplies or any cleaning supplies. I also will not pet sit at your home if there are any people/family members there. I pet sit alone and I do not require or need assistance due to my experience. Upon arrival, if I find any of my rules stated not up to standard, I most likely will reach out to rover for help if I am not comfortable staying in an unclean environment. Thank you for your understanding! I currently work nights 4 days a week. I will be home to watch and care for your fur babies during the day while they are awake and have 3 days off to spend with them! I can watch max two of your fur babies at a time as long as they get along with other dogs. I am not accepting cats to watch right now In my home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Alpine home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Alpine.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Alpine sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in FL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
