“Olivia was an excellent communicator and she did everything I asked and more. I appreciated all the pictures and notes regarding my pets. The most important thing is I felt my pets liked her and that is incredibly important to me, especially my shy cat. I will for sure book her again!”

“Michelle was amazing!! We just moved to the area and were nervous to leave our pets with someone we didn’t know, but Michelle quickly put us at ease and the pets took to her right away! She treated them like her own and it was obvious how much she loves animals. We have acreage and a cat who loves to try to escape. Michelle was extremely careful and watchful to make sure all 3 dogs and 2 cats all stayed safe. She sent pictures throughout her stay at our house and updated us often. She even tidied up the house, washed the bedding and left us the sweetest note. Highly recommend using Michelle and we will definitely hire her again!”

“Nolvia was great with my babies. It’s always so hard finding someone you feel comfortable with. Nolvia made it an easy choice with how responsive, willing and accommodating she was for our babies. She went way beyond what we expected. Would 100% recommend Nolvia and will definitely use her again.”

About: I believe I’m an excellent pet sitter because animals have been a huge part of my life from the very beginning. Growing up on a farm taught me responsibility, patience, and how to care for animals of all kinds. I’ve personally bottle fed kittens, puppies, and baby goats, giving me hands on experience with pets that need extra attention and care. I also attended veterinary classes through LSU’s agricultural program, where I learned valuable knowledge about animal health, behavior, and proper care. Whether your pet needs playtime, cuddles, medication, or just a comforting presence, I’ll treat them like they’re part of my own family. I currently work in Healthcare at North Oaks Hospital. I take care of my pet daily, as I would yours once we figure out which days i’m need to care for your baby! Creating a safe and comfortable environment for every pet is my top priority. I make sure pets always have access to fresh water, a clean space, and plenty of attention while following their normal routines as closely as possible. I carefully monitor their behavior, keep potentially harmful items out of reach, and ensure all doors, gates, and leashes are secure. By providing a calm, loving atmosphere and paying close attention to each pet’s individual needs, I help them feel safe, happy, and stress free while their owners are away.
“Laura was great. She came to our rescue on short notice. Stayed at our house over the weekend so we could take our kids and grandchildren away. She was great with our dogs. Sent pictures and even washed the sheets and towels swept the floor and threw out some expired milk. Thank you Laura we would love to have you in our home when we go to Australia later this year. Angela and Emanuel, Sydney and Samson”

About: I’ve been caring for animals since 2015 and truly enjoy working with pets of all kinds. I am CPR certified and have experience handling many different types of animals and personalities. I also have strong references available. I have over an acre of land with a partially fenced yard, which allows for safe outdoor time, exercise, and play in a calm environment. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I keep a pretty open schedule and can work with most days and times, including weekends. I’m flexible with mornings, afternoons, and evenings and do my best to accommodate last-minute needs when possible. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I provide a calm, supervised environment where pets are always cared for and monitored. I have experience with a wide variety of animals and make sure each pet is handled according to their needs, personality, and routine.
“Darcy was fantastic! We were in the process of moving and to change plans and times, and she rolled with it. And took on the challenge of taking care of our boys in their brand new surroundings and when we got home, they both seemed happy and well acclimated. Couldn’t have had a better outcome. Good communicator and good person.”

About: Ever since I was Itty bitty I have always adored animals. I was the kid bringing home strays every chance I got to make sure they found a loving home. In high-school I interned at a vet. This gave me knowledge and experience walking, feeding, administering medication, and understanding the behaviors of the animals around me. I am now an Army veteran and will be a full time student come the fall semester. This gives me plenty of time and flexibility to give your precious babies the highest quality care so you can feel confident and secure that all of their needs are being met while youre away. I have 1 dog and 5 cats of my own all with their own quirks, personalities, and detailed instructions I give to my own sitters when needed. Rest assured that there is not much your pets could need that I am not up for! I am moving from out of state and starting school in the fall, so during the summer I will have complete availability while settling into our new home! Due to having so many cats, I will not be offering boarding/sitting in my own home. However for house sitting, walking, and drop ins I am happy to follow any and all detailed instructions and will send plenty of photos for your peace of mind!
About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve always been my favorite kind of company. I’m patient and keep things calm and low-key. I only watch one dog at a time, so you can rest assured that I will treat your dog as if they were my own. Since I work remotely, your dog won’t be left alone much and will get attention throughout the day. I make sure to follow whatever routine helps your dog feel most comfortable. Happy to send you photos and updates throughout the day as well. I’m flexible with pickup and drop off times. I will be with your pup all day, and they’ll get plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine. If they’re a high energy dog, they’ll get long walks. If they’re a senior or low energy, I’ll take them on shorter walks or just let them sniff in the yard.

About: I love animals and have cared for friends’ pets whenever they’ve needed a trusted dog sitter. I’ve also fostered dogs for Take Paws Rescue, from young puppies to senior dogs, which has given me experience with pets of all ages and personalities. I treat every animal with patience, love, and attention, the same way I would want someone to care for my own pets. I recently stepped away from my full time job and currently have a very flexible schedule with open availability. This allows me to give pets plenty of attention, care, and consistency throughout the day. I currently have three rescue dogs of my own, a Doberman puppy, a two year old Doberman, and a small mixed breed. I’m very comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, sizes, and energy levels. Because of my own pets, I prefer caring for animals in their own home where they can stay comfortable in a familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. I always treat every pet with patience, love, and care as if they were my own.
“Grady is simply the best! Our dogs love him and he gives them so much love, walking and fun while we are gone, I’d be surprised if they were happy we are home. He made our trip a lot less stressful by knowing he was taking such good care of them.”

About: Hi! I’ve had dogs my entire life and they’ve always been at the center of my world. My most recent pup, Effy, was with me for 15 years — she was truly the love of my life. While I’m not quite ready to have a dog of my own again, I couldn’t imagine my life without them, which is why I’m so excited to be here on Rover! Your pet will be loved and cared for like my own. I can’t wait to meet them I work from home Monday–Friday, so your pet will have my full attention throughout the day — no long stretches alone. I am able to work remotely so care during the day is no issue. I live in an apartment in Meraux above my dad’s office, so while there’s no yard, we have plenty of space to get outside for walks. There are stairs, but I’m happy to carry pets up and down as needed.

“ABSOLUTELY FIVE STARS!!! Will be using her everytime!!! She kept our dogs at our air bnb for the day so we didn’t have to worry about them needing to go to the bathroom or getting anxious in a new setting. Sally absolutely rocked it with our great dane and pitbull Mix! Out great dane weighs 163lbs and our pitty weighs 55lb so she could definitely handle her own!!!”

About: I’ve always had dogs and cats, the occasional hamster, growing up. I love animals! I’m from the south and have come across all types of puppies (including gator pups) I have no problems in gaining new friends :) I am currently free lancing in artistic endeavors and having a friendly pet would help with the time I’m at home needing a little company and a less… talkative version than human conversation! I love animals and have experience with all types! (I’m from Louisiana so I mean ALL types) including the senior doggies ;) I have a closed in front patio with a little nature-esque ground for quick potty breaks and just to sunbathe when the need arises. I take walks often and live in a neighbor hood away from a busy strip so I can keep pets safe and exercised!
“Ayanna was wonderful with my pups! She arrived exactly when she said she would, she sent videos/pictures, and provided detailed updates about walks, meals, etc. Will definitely work with Ayanna again!”

About: I’ve spent over 15 years pet sitting regularly and in recent years, I’ve been a traveling pet/house sitter. I have thirty plus 5 star reviews from the Trusted Housesitters platform, as well as references which I’m happy to share upon request. I worked as a vet tech assistant and kennel technician at a Rio Del Mar Pet Hospital in Aptos, CA for 2 years. I was a stable care taker, at Little Paddocks Farm in Yorktown, VA for 7 years. I helped train dogs and horses, we also had pigs and cats that I cared for. I absolutely love plants too, so watering and maintenance is something I enjoy. I will happily take care of gardens and bird feeding as needed. My schedule is flexible, I base my schedule around pet and house sitting. I’m available for single day visits, as well as weekly and monthly agreements. I care deeply for animals, and truly enjoy comforting pets while the owners are away. I know it can be very stressful for pets and their owners when they’re apart. I look forward to helping your animal companions stay calm and stress free while you’re away!
“Krystl did an amazing job watching over our two boys while we went out of town for a few day. Both the boys loved her. I would HIGHLY recommend her again many more times in the future. Thank you so much Krystl for watching over and taking great care of both my boys. 🥰❤️”

FAQs for House Sitting - Akers
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 647 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Akers. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Akers walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Akers maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Akers choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Akers. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
