“Kendall did an excellent job watching our pets (two dogs and a cat) for a week. She would go outside with our dogs multiple times a day, and kept everyone fed and entertained, which is no small task with our high maintenance, routine oriented cat. We came back to three happy, healthy pets thanks to Kendall. Would definitely book with Kendall again.”
“Kami was great. My dogs looked so happy with her. She stayed at my house and I felt so comfortable knowing our dogs were in good hands. She even put our trash out on trash day! Highly recommend!!”

“My 2 senior dogs loved Maggie and Travis! We are grateful to have such a nice couple close to our home. They also responded quickly after my first inquiry on Rover and showed up short notice the next day. Very happy for our connection and will use them often.”

About: Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm a school teacher looking to spend my summer looking after pets. I have experience working with all types of dogs as I grew up in a home with three pugs with big personalities. I also have experience working with bigger dogs, senior/disabled dogs, and cat sitting. I would do anything for my dogs, so I would do anything for yours too. As a teacher, I'm free during the day to help your pet so they feel as comfortable and happy as possible while you're away. For active pets, I love going on walks! For easygoing and older pets , I'm happy to be someone to watch over them. :) My #1 priority is to keep your pets happy and healthy while you are away! I'll be sure to send you frequent updates on how your pet is doing. Never hesitate to ask me any questions. Feel free to let me know your pets regular schedule, so I can maximize your pets comfort.
“Angeline was amazing! From taking notes during our pre-departure meeting to all the updates and photos while we were gone, Angeline was amazing to work with. Angeline had great communication and was super easy to work with. We will definitely keep Angeline in mind for the future.”

About: Friends & family often have me pet sit for them. I love both dogs & cats but have two cats of my own! My oldest cat is 16 years old and I take his health & care very seriously and willing to help others! For this summer I am working full time at a daycare Monday-Friday. I am open to checking in on your animals before I go to work at 8:30, if needed checking up on them during my break that is at 1, and I usually am off of work around 4:30. On the weekends I am a bartender & I work the hours of 9PM-2AM. Usually, if I am dog sitting I make sure they have had good enough time playing and they are taken care of before I go to work and if I am housesitting I come back right after I am done. This leaves me with the entire day to take care of your animals! I take care of kids for a living so I’m used to the demands of parents & these pets are your babies! Any special requests or anything that you would want me to do just communicate with me & I’m pretty easygoing. I will take care of your pets like they’re my own :)
About: I’ve had very many different types of dogs in our family through the years. I’ve raised dogs from 6 weeks old to senior. I have experience with giving dogs medicine and following special meal schedules. I have stayed over with dogs and cats for family and friends while they were on vacation, etc. for 20+ years. I absolutely love all animals and promise to love yours too! This is my only source of employment so I can be really flexible and accommodating to your needs and your pet’s needs. Whether it be for potty breaks, taking your pet for a walk, abiding by food/medication schedules, or extended stays. I am available to sit in your home to keep your pet feeling as comfortable and safe as possible. I am familiar with building trust with dogs as well. If you don’t need a daily/nightly sitter, you can count on me to potty your dog at a minimum of every 4 hours.
“Bobbie was great! I was nervous about having a stranger at my house and with my pet, but I spent some time getting to know her and felt much better! She's very kind and warm while also being professional. Super helpful and flexible. I will definitely be making Bobbie my go-to sitter.”

“Jennifer was wonderful with our dogs. She went above and beyond with walks and play time and communicated regularly. We didn't have one minute of worry while we were gone. We couldn't have asked for better care!!”

“Our two Labradors LOVE Evie!!! We have booked with Evie several times, and we just got back from a 5 day trip to Jamacia. It is so nice being able to go out of the country, knowing that our dogs are in great hands and being well taken care of, while we enjoy our vacation. Our house is always left spotless, and our dogs are always so happy. Evie is reliable and a great communicator! We will continue to book with her for all of our pet sitting needs.”

“Cassidy was amazing!! She sent pics, videos and took my baby to a game and the park!! She is a amazing sitter!! So happy to have found her!! Definitely will be booking with her again!!”

“Hallejia was an amazing dog sitter. She and Willow got along great. I attribute that to her coming and meeting Willow ahead of time and taking her time to get to know her. Hallejia is very attentive, caring and kind. I loved her the moment I met her which made me feel comfortable leaving Willow. She familiarized herself with Willow’s routine and habits. And Halleija is so flexible. I had to change some things at the last minute and she was so accommodating. I will definitely be reaching out to her again to sit for Willow!”

“Wow, what can I say besides, Amber was excellent! This was our first time ever leaving our pet, and she made me feel safe and secure that Lacey was going to be taken care of. We needed to be gone for an extra day, she was OK with staying last minute with no questions asked. She kept my house clean, watered my flowers, and even fed my cat as an extra. Pictures and communication was sent multiple times throughout the day as requested. We can’t thank you enough for the sense of security while we were gone. Will definitely be booking with Amber again!”

About: I have three pets of my own. Two rescue cats and one pound puppy. I have experience administrating medications from eye drops to diabetic shots. I work from home so am always available to sit in house or stop by multiple times a day. I’ve always been very good with animals and love spending my time with them. I am very excited to get to know you and your fur babies! I work remotely in sales so I am very flexible on times for visits and walks. This also allows me to stay in houses if it is needed or required! I would prefer to care for fur babies in the clients home as I have pets of my own. However we do have a very large back yard so if your dog needed a place to let loose and run around this could be accommodated!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 312 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Williamsburg-On-The-River. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Williamsburg-On-The-River walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Williamsburg-On-The-River maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Williamsburg-On-The-River choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Williamsburg-On-The-River. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
