“McKenzie took wonderful care of our dog Nala while we were away for the weekend. She communicates well, responds quickly, and sends lots of pictures. Absolutely will be booking with her again for our further trips. You can trust that your fur babies are in excellent hands with her!!”

“Amber did a great job checking in on our cats and bunny while we were away for vacation. She made the effort to do a meet and greet beforehand, and followed all of our care instructions during her drop ins. We would recommend her to anyone who needs local pet care, and we will definitely check her availability the next time we need someone to care for our animals!”

About: I've helped care for animals since my childhood. Recently, I cared for my senior dog, Ziggy, until his passing. Currently, I volunteer with Mountaineers 4 Mutts by cleaning cat kennels, socializing cats, and transporting animals. I currently work part-time and I enjoy caring for animals of my friends and family. I help out when I can and make sure their pets receive the best care. With my past pet Ziggy, I would always make sure he had water and food. I'd make sure he was comfortable and feeling alright. I made sure to take him out immediately when he let me know he had to go. Some days we went for walks and car rides, while other days we'd cuddle on the couch.
About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 12. I have grown up with both cats and dogs. Neighbors and friends have trusted me to take care of their dogs for many years. I am willing to spend extra time with your furry friends as needed, along with sending updates and pictures. I am reliable and responsible. I am currently in graduate school and working, I have full days from 8am-8pm on Monday and Tuesdays, I am available Wednesdays before 9 am and after 12 pm. I am available Thursdays and Fridays before 8:30, from 12-1pm, and after 3:30 pm. My weekend schedule is flexible and am able to take care of your animals on both the weekdays and weekends. I am able and willing to stay at your home with your animal. I currently live in a small apartment with two cats and would be unable to house dogs. I am able to give medication/put on a harness/crate dogs as needed. I am super flexible and adaptable :-).

About: I’ve grown up arounds dogs and have owned atleast one dog for my whole life. I’ve had experience from chihuahuas to german shepherds. Pet care has become a daily thing with my fur babies. I enjoy spending time with animals and make sure they receive the care, exercise, and companionship they need while their owners are away. I treat every pet like family and follow their normal routine, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special care they need. About: I have always loved interacting with animals, they are a joy to be around. Pet sitting has always been a fun opportunity for me to earn income since middle school, and now that I’m on my law school journey, I hope to continue that trend. I am comfortable assisting dogs and cats of any age. I’m dedicated to your pets comfort & happiness, and will treat your pet how I would hope you would treat mine, like family! I am currently attending law school. During the week, I will not be confined to a classroom all day, and will be sure to communicate my availability when you reach out with your booking request. We have a spacious, fully fenced in backyard. Your pet will also have free range of our finished basement. Pictures of the space available upon request! While your pet will not be confined to a crate in our home, we do prefer that they are house and/ or crate trained.
About: I've had experience with puppies to powdered sugar muzzles and from <10lbs to 100+! High energy or a friend who loves a nap, I'll do by best to help your dog have a good time even when you aren't there for the fun. I'm currently a graduate student on summer break with a pretty open schedule. I may pick up a more traditional hourly job on the side, but I'm excited for the opportunity to stay busy over the summer and meet some amazing people and pets while I do it. As I have pets of my own who are a bit easily stressed, I do not offer services where your pet will be in my home. However, I have no issues coming to you! In your home, I will be calm and respectful and don't mind cleaning up any messes your pet may have made.
About: With over 12 years of pet care experience, I provide reliable, compassionate care tailored to each pet's unique needs. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and small pets of all ages. I have hands-on experience training puppies, reinforcing basic commands, and helping establish good habits through positive reinforcement. I'm also comfortable administering oral medications to both dogs and cats and providing attentive care for senior pets or those with special needs. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply a consistent routine, I'll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and understand how important it is to give owners peace of mind through dependable, attentive care and regular updates. I am a graduate student with a flexible schedule, especially during the summer months, which allows me to provide attentive and reliable care for your pets. My schedule gives me the ability to accommodate a variety of pet care needs, including regular walks, drop-in visits, and extended time with pets who need extra attention. I understand the importance of consistency and routine for animals, and I am happy to work with your pet’s individual schedule to help them feel comfortable and cared for while you are away. I provide care exclusively in my clients’ homes, where pets are able to stay comfortable in their familiar environment and maintain their normal routines. I understand that being in a familiar space can help reduce stress, especially for pets who may be anxious or prefer the comfort of their own home. During each visit, I prioritize safety, trust, and attentive care by following your pet’s established routines, respecting your home, and paying close attention to your pet’s behavior and needs. I am happy to provide updates, photos, and communication throughout my time with your pet so you can have peace of mind while you are away. Ellie is an absolute sweetheart to all dogs and people she is around. If you or your pet prefer to not be around another animal, I can always crate my pet or keep her in a separate room if needed.😊 -If pet sitting at owner's home, I would be very respectful and follow any and all directions the best I can. About: I have taken care of pets since I was 11 years old. I have bathed, fed, walked, and played with dogs and cats alike. I love it a lot and animals just bring me joy. I currently work part time at another job so I’ll have time to help take care of your pets throughout the week and keep them company. I am able to move around a bunch to play with your pet! I can also cuddle and relax with them if that’s more their speed. I understand every pet is different and I can work with them however they need! I’ll also make sure to stay communicative, letting you know what’s going on and sending pictures of your fur baby’s.
About: I will care for any type of animal, whether it’s puppies or senior dogs or cats. I am also on the pre-vet track in college, along with participating in clubs like wildlife and vet. In college I don't get the opportunity to see many pets, at home I have a gecko I care for when I'm there, and over breaks I tend to pet sit family or family friends. So while pet care is not in my daily life I have experience caring for pets over many years. Caring for pets either in their home or mine I will listen to their very specific instructions because I know how picky some animals are.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
