“Kathryn was a WONDERFUL pet sitter for our little English bulldog, Daisy. She kept in touch with us and sent updates. We could tell Daisy really enjoyed her stay! Thank you, Kathryn!!!”

“Deb took great care of our pup. Deb and her husband were very communicative and were willing to care for our pup even when they had an emergency come up at the last minute. I loved that there was plenty of outdoor space for our pup to run around. Thank you again Deb!”

“Joe was absolutely INCREDIBLE with our boy Lucas! He had the best weekend! He even got his nails trimmed for him! He took Luke to the dog park to play multiple times and Lilibet was the BEST pal to Luke all weekend. They played, laid with each other and just had the best time. We can’t recommend Joe and Lilibet enough! Book now!”

“Sophia was amazing! She was very flexible about drop off and a last-minute booking with only a few days notice. She sent daily pictures and our pup was loved to pieces and had very attentive care. We have used several Rover sitters with positive experiences and Sophia will definitely be our new go-to!!”

“Hillary is a great sitter. A dog lover, she was so engaged and involved with our 2 Goldens during the week they stayed with her and her family. She sent multiple pictures, videos, and texts every day. The dogs were in great shape when we picked them up and it was clear that that they had been very well cared for. It is so comforting to know that your beloved pets are in good hands and Hillary exudes that type of confidence in her care. We are empty nesters and could tell from the videos and pics that the dogs loved playing with her children. I highly recommend Hillary!”

“Erin was wonderful. This was our first time using Rover and it was a very positive experience. Communication was great, location is in a beautiful suburb that's convenient to 81, and our black lab seemed quite happy and well cared for when we picked her up.”

“Tiffanie loved my dog, took the best care of him, and I knew that by the way he interacted with her upon my return. She communicated regularly, gave him plenty of exercise and attention, and gave me the reassurance of knowing that he was well taken care of while I was away. I will absolutely rely on her again and would recommend her to everyone!”

“10/10 would absolutely book with her again! she was so prompt and responsive leading up to ollie’s stay, and she was incredibly accommodating. as soon as i arrived, she immediately made me feel like ollie was in good hands, which gave me so much peace of mind. he had such a fun time staying with her and even got to see goats, which was definitely a highlight! i really appreciated how caring and attentive she was with him.🩷”

“Jani and Paul are so wonderful with Gizmo! They are attentive and communicative. They send photos and sweet updates throughout the day. Gizmo enjoys boarding with them and exploring the beautiful fenced in yard and chilling inside with them. It’s amazing peace of mind knowing he’s being loved on and well cared for while we are traveling!”

“Margaret was wonderful! She took great care of my senior girl and gave her the love and attention she needed while I was away. She was easy to communicate with and provided pictures. I’d definitely book with Margaret again the next time I’m in the area!”

“Alexandra and Logan were wonderful with my (sometimes overly) curious terrier, Eddie! I am always concerned about Eddie escaping to chase an animal, and they took my concerns seriously and took steps to ensure that wouldn't happen. Their fence setup was great too - the fenced-in yard wraps all the way around the house, so even if a dog slipped out of the house, they would still be in the yard. On top of that, they sent lots of pictures and were so kind to Eddie. He didn't want to leave!”

About: I have taken care of our elderly farm dogs for 2 years and a rambunctious new pup this year who has lots of energy! I have also helped my mom take care of her cats since I was 18. I am currently between jobs so this is perfect . I’m a very active person, I love walking and grounding in nature. It would be great to have some company on these walks! I have a fenced in back yard on a 3 acre land. I have a young dog named Charlie who is our farm dog, he is an excited rambunctious pup that helps protect our chickens, he can be crated if needed.
“We are so glad to have found Nadia. Our Roo has stayed with her several times now and she is always treated like part of the family! Roo is not for everyone but loves Nadia and Nadia loves her too! We are sent daily pictures and updates and Roo always seems sorta sad to go home at the end of her stay lol. I highly recommend Nadia!!!”

“Gretchen was incredibly responsive, supportive, & communicative — especially for a last-minute request. If I’m in the area again and need a dog sitter, I will definitely reach out; the care from her community of neighbors was incredible! I particularly appreciated their transparency & consideration for Bugs’ needs.”

About: First of all, my name is Toni. Rover will only accept legally changed names, and I haven’t gotten there yet. But I’m Toni M. and I started getting involved with pet care because of my mental illness and autism. The stress of life was lowering my ability to function and every job I tried seemed to make it all worse. Enter: Dogs. I decided if I was going to make it I needed to be doing something that gave instead of took from me. Animals have helped bring me back to life in the dark. I’ve worked with puppies and older dogs. I’ve spent significant time with dogs with anxiety issues as well. I tend to connect with dogs who need a little extra love the most anyway. If at all possible I prefer boarding as transitions can be a challenge but I’m usually up for anything the pet needs to feel safe and secure and do a lot of house sitting, too and am more than willing too. I try to keep all homes clean and tidy for the owner’s return. My own home is small, only two usable rooms, but has a large wooded yard and perfect spots for beautiful walks, or throwing a ball and playing fetch in our secluded field if the dog is not an eloper. My dog loved living in this home before he passed as it is quiet and peaceful, and playing ball was his favorite thing in the world. Hit me up if you need some help, as I’m quite passionate about this work and want to be of service. :) ✨ When a pet stays with me we have a routine. Coffee (for me), breakfast, walk. And in the evenings we eat, play, have downtime. I guarantee an hour of exercise a day for your pet as well. I always appreciate a crate just in case but that doesn’t mean I’ll use it. My home is small so if your dog is a big chewer it might not be the perfect fit for boarding unless a crate is available. I’m home almost all day and can monitor animals closely and give plenty of love. I like to play outside with the animals twice a day. Water bowel is always filled and animals are always welcome on my furniture. They’re free to make themselves at home.
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - White Hill
Sophia did a wonderful job taking care of my dog, Louie, while I was away on a trip. She made sure Louie was well taken care of and I could tell that he was very comfortable staying with her. She shared many updates and pictures which I appreciated very much. If you’re looking someone to entrust your best friend with Sophia is great!

Sophia was excellent!! Starting with the meet and greet, she was an absolute pleasure to work with! She sent detailed and regular updates, including letting us know about anything out of the ordinary. She administered medications as needed and was very understanding of my dog’s anxiety. I can tell my dog was very happy, loved, and well cared for while I was away! I would absolutely use Sophia’s services again!

Sierra and her family are the best. They love dogs and animals and your pet will be treated like their own. This summer we left our dog with her 3 separate occasions for travels and he had the best of times. I would highly encourage anyone to let Sierra pet sit for your dog and they will have a blast.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their White Hill home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your White Hill.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your White Hill sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
