“Amber is great! She has cared for Mindy twice (with a third stay already booked). We can tell she makes Mindy feel right at home. She sends updates so we know Mindy is doing well while we’re away, which helps us enjoy our trips even more knowing that Mindy is in great hands. I’d definitely recommend her for your pet sitting needs!”

“Thank you, John, for your great care of Gaia. John was communicative, responsive and sent multiple pictures per day which my partner and I appreciated. I also appreciated John having us visit his home before his caring for her so she could build a sense of familiarity. We will definitely use John’s services again and am so appreciative of the care he provided for our fury family member.”

“Sonya is an absolute angel. She took exceptional care of our Tootsie, sent tons of adorable pictures, and truly went above and beyond. We could not be more grateful or recommend her more highly. Absolutely amazing!”

“Michael was super responsive when setting up our reservation and sent pictures multiple times a day. We appreciated his kind and caring nature with of 6 yr old lab.”

“We couldn’t ask for a better experience with Chad. Our family stayed in Smugglers’ Notch/Stowe area and our resort (if you do timeshare, you understand) doesn’t allow pets. We still wanted our dog close and finding Chad is awesome. He took the time to discuss ahead of boarding all necessary details about Pakun. He even asked for written notes and sent daily pictures and videos. We are kept updated especially with important details about our dog’s behavior. We could tell our Pakun was treated so well. Our English Springer’s hair was not tangled and he was clean when we picked him up. It is hard to believe since our dog has videos of walks, playing in the park and playdates with other dogs,he even did enrichment activities. Our dog is used to group boarding when we go on vacation, he usually comes back smelly and all tangled up. We are so pleased with our experience this time and we are so glad we brought him to have his own vacation with Chad.”

“Savanah is the best. We have a teen mastiff and she was perfect for the job. Her place has lots of room for your dog to play and have fun plus her dog is amazing as well and became best friends with ours. Will be using her again”

“Ruchi took such wonderful care of Fred and gave us lots of updates. He really enjoyed her lovely fenced in yard! Can’t wait to book with her again! We can’t recommend her enough!”

“Cassandra and family did a great job! She had a blast playing with the kids and their golden and swimming in the pond. We would definitely use Cassandra again when we are in the area”

“We can't thank Natalie & Patrick enough for the great care and love they showed Ziggy while they were watching him! They provided us with great updates throughout his stay with them. It was so nice to know that our pup was in great hands and having a great time. Their dog is also a great companion and Ziggy had a blast having a friend to hang out with during his stay!”

“Jackie was wonderful and took such great care of our geriatric dog while we were on a family vacation. We received tons of updates, photos and videos. Our trip was stress free knowing our dog was in good hands.”

“River had a great stay with Rosan. He had a great time playing with his dog Oggie. Rosan sent pictures every day and we were confident that he was in great hands. Highly recommend.”

“JD and his family took excellent care of my two dogs, Dot and Tot. They were caring, meticulous about schedules, and communicative to me throughout the weekend. Their house is located next to a large park with a variety of hiking trails - an excellent location providing plenty of walking and exercise opportunities. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again when I come back up!”

“Julia was AWESOME. In fact, I worried that our dog, Tucker, would end up preferring to stay with her rather than come home with us! She watched our very enthusiastic 1.5 year old golden retriever for the weekend, and took him on hikes, had him splashing in brooks and meeting goats. She was easy to get in touch with, accepted our last minute booking (including squeezing in a meet and greet prior) and sent great photos. 10/10 recommend!!”

“I can't thank Jacob and Maiah enough for the wonderful care they provided for my elderly two-legged chihuahua. They were incredibly attentive, patient, and understanding of all his needs. They went above and beyond, ensuring he was comfortable throughout his stay. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a compassionate and reliable sitters for their pets!”

“I was originally worried about boarding Luverne when traveling for work. As an active outdoor-loving dog who needs a good run in the woods every day before snoring on her dog bed at night, she wouldn’t do well in a typical kennel situation. Luckily I found Laura! She makes sure my dog gets in a good run, eats her dinner, and plays well with others. That Luverne has bonded so closely with the house dog and Laura’s family makes her visits even more fun. I wouldn’t put her in anyone else’s hands.”
“Kim was so kind and incredibly flexible the pick-up and drop-offs with our pup. She sent us tons of photos and updates throughout the stay. Our dog loved Moose and they were quickly best playmates. We would definitely use Kim again if we’re in the area!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their West Settlement home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your West Settlement.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your West Settlement sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
