“Dog whisperer. Very upbeat, energetic. Provided details on visits and seems to love her job. Was always on time and stayed for the entire durations. Everything you’d want in a sitter for your pet. This was our first time using the service. We will definitely select her next time we need sitter services.”

About: We brought home our 1st puppy when our eldest daughter was 8 weeks old. Everything since then has been easy! Currently have an 8yr old Golden Retriever with a fenced in backyard. Each of our grown children took in a dog or puppy once they had their own homes. We have had cats, hamsters, fish, and guinea pigs over the years. I'm recently semi-retired and my daughters have used Rover for their dogs in far away states. I thought it would be a nice way to give our dog a playmate every once in a while. We have a large fenced in yard which your dog can run around or hangout with our dog if they'd like. Our house is split level so there could be 6 stairs at time to go up & down. I love to walk our dog & listen to books or podcasts.
“Adriene was AMAZING with our two dogs, Chole and Luna! She gave them such love and attention. She communicated with us while we were away. This made us feel so comfortable. We knew they girls were being well cared for. We highly recommed Adriene!”

About: Animals are Gods among us. I agree with Ricky Gervais, that "a dog loves you more than it loves itself, and that's why I worship dogs." Honestly, this gig is a bit selfish - my sweet baby Pit Mix passed away recently & I miss her terribly. I'm certain that engaging with animals will soothe this depression. I am socially awkward with humans, but I love animals. This will be therapy, a true gift, to me. I also need to exercise more and would like to be able to afford any kind of home, some day. My family has had pets since I was in kindergarten. I volunteered with Faithful Friends in High School, through which I also fostered kittens. I have taken care of my neighbors' & friends' pets while away over the years, which I equate to a collective total of ~2 years. I take medical issues very seriously & cared for my doll when she was ill. I understand how stressful & important it is. My favorite thing about walking a dog is when the folded tops of their ears bounce up and down. I work full time until ~4:30PM, but I am usually free after. I am available for boarding on the weekends. On the days I work from home (typically Monday & Wednesday), I can also provide a walk or check in during my lunch hour (1 to 2PM). There are no other animals or children in my home; your pet will have my undivided attention. I have a large partially fenced in yard, and many walking trails nearby. I'm also happy to take care of a pet in your home, if preferred.

“Jen has been fabulous with Bruno! I will definitely ask her to care for him again. Jenn arrived on time twice each day, played with, fed and trained Bruno enthusiastically. She provided very thorough reports complete with many photos for each visit.”

“Alison took wonderful care of our 20-year-old cat while we were away. She was attentive, gentle, and clearly gave her lots of love and attention. We especially appreciated the detailed updates and photos, which gave us real peace of mind. We would absolutely recommend her!”

“Shirl truly was the most incredible dog sitter! She put in so much effort even before we left. Our dogs are big babies and get a little nervous with new people, so she came not once, but three times before our trip to make sure they were comfortable with her (and she brought treats!). During our trip she was so communicative and got some great photos. It was so nice knowing our dogs were getting such good care while we were away. Seriously, 10/10 service and absolutely recommend!”

“Great to meet and excellent with all 3 of my animals! I have 2 senior dogs and a 1 year old cat who is very nervous around new people but he walked right up to her easily. I’m very nervous about leaving my 2 senior dogs with anyone considering one is fully blind, the other has a messed up leg along with other major health concerns but she has gained my trust in caring for my boys while I’m away. Will be hiring again and keeping as their main sitter!”

“Kelli did a great job caring for our cats! They are happy and well fed. We got lots of pictures and updates. She was also considerate about the time difference of where we were when contacting us.”

About: I started pet sitting for friends and family when I was young, and now I have pet sit for more than 10 families! I am more than comfortable to stay overnight and I love getting out to walk! I’ve pet sat Rottweilers and tiny chihuahuas and everything in between! I have experience with reactive dogs as well. During the summer, I'm home from college and I have a very open schedule! Usually on a pet sitting job, I’ll schedule my day around when I need to visit or take care of the animals so that I can ensure they are prioritized and taken care of properly! I make sure to be respectful to the home and do what I was told! If an accident were to happen, I have and will continue to immediately contact the family to make sure they know and that i take care of it correctly. I also always make sure everybody is well taken care of and comfortable!

About: Hello furry parents! My name is Lily and I’m excited to support you and your family. I have worked with all dog breeds and all ages through fostering. I am currently in my training certification program to provide proper education to you and your puppers. I am an online student looking to spend my free time with amazing pets. My top priority is to give all animals time and love. Whether it’s giving a long walk, using my dog park at my complex or administering medication, I’m your girl! When I would care for your pets, it’s all about the greeting. I would love to make sure your pets are as comfortable with you as for me! About: Like most people on this app, I love all animals. I grew up on a farm and currently have a dog of my own (his name is Colby 🐶). Over the years my family and I have fostered both cats and dogs ranging from 2 months old to 10 years old. I have also previously worked at different animal shelters. At the moment I am out of school and out of work so I am at home for most the day. I enjoy this though because it gives me time to take care of my pup I have a fenced in yard and a huge basket filled with fun and challenging toys! I make sure to give my dog a potty break at least every 2 hours but when it’s nice out, I leave the door open. My pup goes for walks 2-4 times a day depending on the weather and how I think my dog is feeling.
About: I’m a true dog enthusiast who was the primary caregiver for my German Shepherd, Jax, for almost 9 years until he passed away last year. During that time, I handled every aspect of his daily life—long walks in any weather, scheduled feeding, plenty of play and exercise (he loved fetch!), grooming, basic training, vet appointments, and showering him with affection. Jax was a big, energetic boy with a strong personality. Though I don’t have a dog of my own right now, that deep experience has only strengthened my passion for caring for pups. I’m excited to bring the same level of dedication, patience, and one-on-one attention to your dog. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone, and I’d love to earn yours. Feel free to ask any questions or set up a meet-and-greet! 🐾 Honoring Jax by helping other dogs thrive.” I am a stay home mom currently working in an online certification so I’m at home almost all day . I usually just need to take my daughters to and from school or practices . On weekends I am mostly home as well. I have a large fenced yard that I can play with your dog. A lot of toys, balls etc . He will receive all the attention he needs.
“Jennifer was excellent, especially when it came to meeting my 12 year-old fear reactive Australian Sheppard. We took the meet and greet slow to make sure everyone was comfortable. It worked because their first check-in visit went very well.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Meadow
Natalie was fantastic! We were out of the country for two and a half weeks and she took great care of our cat the whole time. She sent regular photo updates so we always knew our girl was happy and well looked after. It gave us so much peace of mind being away that long. We'd absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone needing a reliable, caring sitter.

We had a wonderful experience. Kaitlyn watched our Newfoundland puppy, Teddy, for an hour while I was at work and took great care of him. She was reliable, communicative, and made sure he was comfortable and well cared for. I will definitely book again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.

Lynn is great. Our two cats, who can be very shy, skittish and picky loved Lynn from the moment they met her at the meet and greet. We rested easy on our vacation knowing Lynn was taking care of them and loved seeing all her updates and pictures. She is super professional and I would definitely recommend her to any cat families!

This is the third year I have requested Jill to be with my meows. Even though there is usually a year in between visits (sometimes less), my cats always respond well to her return. She sits with them and they sit with her; I am always happy with her services. I fully intend to use her help as long as she will have me! Jill is really the best. I 100% stand by my consistent reviews with Jill.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
