“Skye was amazing! This was my first time using this app so I was not sure what to expect. Skye preceded all my expectations! She took care of my pups like they were her own. She gave one their meds on time every day. She walked them. She played with them. She sent me plenty of pictures and videos to let me know they were well cared for and enjoying their time!! We will definitely be using her again!”

“Isaiah was wonderful with our dogs (and home), and could not have been more respectful. Our 3 pups and each bit unique, and we left feeling like we knew they were in good hands. He was also responsive and helpful when a unexpected delivery arrived while gone. We will certainly reach out again next time we are in need of a sitter.”

“Noa did a phenomenal job taking care of my boys. She made sure they were good, sent plenty of pictures and videos and even stayed longer sometimes to make sure they weren’t by themselves too long. Would definitely recommend and use again! They were in great hands”

“Having Gabriella watch my dogs was a wonderful experience! She was very communicative, great with the dogs, and I felt very comfortable leaving them with her! Would definitely recommend using her services!”

“Andrea did an amazing job watching our 4 month old blue heeler pup 'Tillie' and our low maintenance dude cat 'Pickles'. She was at our home for almost 12 hours and kept the pup from getting into trouble. She's still in that biting/chewing stage and loves electrical cords. Andrea sent me photos of the pets throughout the day and I was extremely assured that we had the right person to watch them both. Thank you Andrea! I'm looking forward to the next time!”

“Shanikka helped us out in a pinch and took such good care of our pets! She sent plenty of pictures during her visits and made us comfortable and reassured they were in good hands. Highly recommend booking with her!!”

“100% recommend Kathleen!! She treats your pet like her own. Very respectful of our home. Took our dog on a walk every night & fed our fish. It’s hard for us to take a vaca & leave our baby at home, Kathleen made the process easy.”

“We seriously can’t say enough good things about Ryan! This was our very first time using Rover, so we were already a little nervous about leaving our house and two very attention-needy fur babies in someone else’s hands. To make things even more stressful, our original sitter canceled at the last minute right before our trip. Thankfully, Ryan came to the rescue and was an absolute lifesaver! From the start, she was incredibly kind, responsive, and flexible, which immediately helped ease our nerves. She kept in great communication and sent photo updates throughout our trip, and it was such a relief knowing our babies and our home were being so well taken care of. She was also extremely respectful of our house, responsible, and genuinely thoughtful in how she approached everything. Our two fur babies definitely aren’t shy about demanding attention, so finding someone we felt comfortable leaving them with meant a lot to us! Ryan made what could have been a really stressful experience so much easier, and we were actually able to relax and enjoy our time away. We’re so grateful that things worked out the way they did because we couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience! We would absolutely book with Ryan again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable. Thank you so much, Ryan!!”

“We were somewhat anxious about leaving our dog with a sitter for the first time. We were very impressed when we met Rachelle, and our minds were put at ease by her maturity and her knowledge and experience with dogs. Our dog instantly developed a bond with Rachelle, and we were able to enjoy our vacation without worry about the safety of our dog and our home. Everything went smoothly, and I highly recommend Rachelle as someone who is dependable and will take good care of your pet.”

“Brianna was so incredibly attentive to both our cat and dogs needs. Very communicative and kept us up to date on how they were doing throughout the weekend. Would absolutely recommend Brianna to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter!”

About: Ive been around pets my entire life and have years of hands on experience caring for both cats and dogs. I'm comfortable with feeding, walking, playtime, basic grooming, litter box care, and giving pets plenty of attention and affection. I understand that every pet has a different personality and routine, so I always follow the owners instructions closely and make sure pets feel safe abs comfortable while they're in my care I currently work part-time on Mondays, Tuesdays Thursdays, and Saturdays, ( sometimes they don’t schedule me all days) and I attend college during the week. My school schedule is fairly flexible with no more than two classes per day, usually lasting around 2 hours each. This gives me plenty of time between classes and work to care for pets, provide walks, drop in visits, and spend time with pets staying with me. I'm also available for boarding and overnight care. On weekdays, drop-off and pickup times may need to be arranged around my class schedule, but I'm happy to work with owners to find a time that works for both of us. My days off from work are Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, so I have even more flexibility on those days. In my home, I make sure pets have a safe, comfortable space with plenty of attention, playtime, fresh water, meals, and bathroom breaks based on their normal routine. I keep a close eye on them and make sure they feel relaxed and cared for while there away from home. In a clients home, I follow the owners instructions closely and try to keep the pets routine as normal as possible. I'm respectful of the home, keep things clean, and make sure the pet gets the care, attention, walks, feeding, and companionship they need. I'm also happy to send updates and photos do owners know how their pet is doing.
“This was my first booking with Rover and if Tonia is an example of the quality and compassionate pet sitters....we will be back! Tonia was prompt, kind, attentive and a life-saver (last minute scheduling request). We couldn't have had a better experience. Thank you Tonia and Rover! From Tucker's mom & dad.”

About: I have taken care of dogs for friends of the family for years. I have taken care of solo dogs, two dogs, and three dogs. I always give the dogs the attention and time they need. I always keep the owners in the loop and send updates. I am currently working full time in a remote position. My remote position involves being in an approved location with my work so I unfortunately will not be able to spend the work day with pets during the week. I am available on weekends. I will not be caring for pets in my home. I have taken care of pets in their own homes and I always follow the instructions set forth
“Ann has always been great with my girls! She watched them a few years ago and has recently returned to keep them again. We will definitely continue using her! She always communicates and sends pictures often!”

“Austin took great care of our dog, Zeke, while we were away. It was such a relief knowing Zeke was in good hands, and we came back to a happy pup and a clean, well-kept house. We would absolutely trust him again and highly recommend him to anyone in need of a pet/house sitter!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for most of my life and started pet sitting for neighbors at 12 years old. I have experience with dogs, cats, reptiles, amphibians, and other small pets. I’ve volunteered walking dogs and caring for cats in animal shelters and am comfortable administering medications and caring for both young and senior pets. As a pet owner myself, I understand the importance of dependable care, communication, and maintaining your pet’s routine while you’re away. Pet care fits well into my routine. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Harrison walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Harrison maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Harrison choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
