“Very sweet and understanding of my fearful dog! She brought treats and got him comfortable with her before we left for the walk. Milo really like her even though he’s very fearful of people.”

About: I grew up with dogs, since my very first dog at one years old, Agnes and have loved dogs my entire life. After I bought my first home, the next big purchase was a dog of my own. I had grown up with labs but had wanted a Great Dane for a long time, so that's what I got. Jasper was the first dog I raised on my own and we had some challenges to work through but he was a great dog. When he was two years old we got Ruby, a sassy, olde english bulldog. She absolutely loved Jasper, he tolerated her. Unfortunately, Jasper passed away when he was 4 years old and both Ruby and I were devastated. It took awhile, but eventually we opened our hearts to Gus, another great dane. He was the sweetest boy, hated to be in trouble and only wanted to please. Ruby wasn't all that pleased with him but eventually she warmed up. When Gus was two I decided to get a french bulldog, Lilo. She was feisty from the start, wasn't even afraid of Gus who has like 100X her size haha. Lilo and Ruby though did not get along and even up until the day Ruby died, they were not friends. I raised three dogs together for 8 years, within the last two years I had to put down Ruby and Gus due to age related illnesses. I have a lot of experience with multiple breeds, ages and health problems. I am very comfortable giving medications, I am actually a nurse by trade, and I have a lot of love for dogs. I love snuggles and kisses. I am currently out of work, still searching, so right now my schedule is wide open. I am in the process of looking for a job and hoping to find a work from home position. My own dog, Lilo has free reign of the house and is very well behaved. With other dogs in my home, I allow them to have free reign of the main floor when I am home, would prefer them kenneled when I am not here, especially for their protection. I do dogs on the furniture. I do have a fenced in back yard and let the dogs run around in the back for awhile, as long as its not too hot (or cold) out.
“Skylar, was just amazing. My two westies were just comfortable with Skylar. I appreciate how on time she was. Her communication was spot on. Grateful she was available last minute.”

About: I've spent decades as a dog dad, raising springer spaniels, golden labs, and black labs – all active, intelligent breeds that need both physical exercise and mental stimulation. I also babysat a beagle every summer for years, so I'm comfortable with different energy levels and personalities. What sets me apart is my empathic approach and genuine understanding of what dogs need. I can read their body language and moods, whether they're anxious, playful, or just need a calm presence. Being retired means I have an open schedule and plenty of time for walks, play sessions, and just hanging out together – your dog won't be squeezed into a busy day. I know that every dog is an individual with their own quirks and routines, and I respect that. Your dog will get my full attention and the kind of care I've given my own pets for years. Being retired means pet care can be my daily routine! I have a completely open schedule with no other work commitments. My days are flexible and built around whatever your pet needs. The beauty of retirement is that I'm not trying to squeeze pet care into lunch breaks or evenings – I can give your pets the time and attention they deserve, whenever they need it. My priority is maintaining your pet's routine and keeping them safe and comfortable. Pets thrive on routine and familiarity. I'll stick to your pet's exact schedule – mealtimes, medications, favorite activities, where they like to sleep – so the only thing that changes is that you're not there. I'm empathic to how pets handle change, so I take time to let them adjust to me at their own pace. I'll treat your home like my home and send you updates so you have peace of mind while you're away.
“Ragan was absolutely wonderful with my dog. She walked her twice as far as I normally do to help burn off some extra energy. She sent pictures while on the walk showing me how the dog was doing. I will definitely be using her again in the future.”

About: I am currently a pre-vet student with the hopes of becoming a veterinarian! I have many years of experience not only taking care of my pets but also caring for animals in a clinical setting. I currently attend classes for a few hours each day but would be able to spend the rest of my day on-site if needed! It’s best to enquire about your needs, but 99% of the time, I can make it work! I like to set up a file with my clients that lists essential numbers and contact information in the event of an emergency. I also will take every measure to make sure that your pet is safe by following proper diet protocols and administering medication safely. Lastly, I would treat your home as I would want my home to be treated, with cleanliness being an utmost priority.
About: I have always been the main pet care taker growing up. I got my own dog when I was an 8th grader and have raised/trained her since a puppy. I get a lot of compliments on how well behaved she is. I just finished graduate school and waiting for my certification before I can get a job. So I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment. I have two dogs at home already. One is purely outside, so I will play fetch with him and take him for long walks. The other is an inside dog, so I let her out about 3 times per day. She does accompany on my walks.
About: I’ve had cats and dogs in my life since the age of 5. I’ve always been known as an animal person. I’ve raised and trained my Newfoundland, LeRoy on my own. I would love to help take care of your fur babies while you enjoy your summer vacations! I have a friendly Newfoundland (LeRoy) that would love to keep your furry friends company. I live on the lake and spend plenty of time swimming and playing fetch in the water.
About: I’ve always had dogs in my life since I was a kid. I even used to show my dog in 4H dog shows! I also showed chickens, goats and horses so I am very experienced with any kind of animal you may want me to look after! Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
