“Andrea is a beautiful, intelligent and compassionate professional. She cares about the animals she looks after while 'pet parents' are away. She reduces anxieties naturally by listening carefully and observing astutely. Hygge had never been away or 'boarded' for pet sitting prior to my experience with Andrea. At all times she was communicative, caring and purposeful in her interactions with Hygge, who probably worried about being in a new home away from home for a few days on many levels. My transportation plans were delayed due to a severe storm that prevented my scheduled pick up, and Andrea was patient, reasonable and loving during my own stress about being stuck in NYC beyond my control for the pick up of my dog after traveling for a few days. She worked with me every step of the way, and the boarding experience was a total success even with transportation issues. Hygge returned home happy, healthy, well-nourished and satisfied with renewed confidence in his ability to work with another lovely family in our sweet community in a spirit of trust and sucess. All in all, I would recommend Andrea to work with anyone who has pets they love and want to broaden the scope of their pet's world by allowing Andrea to work with them and care for them. Andrea also understands the complexities of rescue animals, and will work with you so all are informed and kept in safe environments that nourish everyone's positive potential. She is also very pleasant and loving. She is a talented professional and a local treasure to all who come in contact with her.”

“This was my first time using Rover and I was so happy I chose Gabriel. My dog Jack is a 17 year old who is blind, hard of hearing and frail. Gabriel’s love for dogs was evident by the excellent care he gave Jack. The daily pictures he sent of Jack were heartwarming and allowed me to feel relaxed during my vacation. Gabriel will definitely be my choice the next time I need to board Jack.”

“Sandy, was absolutely amazing and patient. My fur baby is very needy and gets seizures and high anxiety she was attentive and caring. I would 100% without a doubt recommend her. Thank you for being so kind.”
“Megen took great care of our dog Lotta. She has a fenced in backyard which was great so our dog was outside a lot and played with the other dogs there. Easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!”

“We had a fabulous time with Daniel and Victoria! They are wonderful hosts, We were treated extra special ! ALL the time ! We got to play in the yard, go for walks on the trail, sleep in their very comfy bed and have delicious meals and snacks while we all hung out on the couch and watched TV- We loved how calm, clean, and quiet their home is, especially Mabel, because she’s a bit shy and doesn’t like it when it too loud. Daniel and Victoria let us come over for a visit before our stay, just to make sure we all felt comfortable- We can’t wait to come back for another visit ! Thanks again Daniel and Victoria ! Love Bosco and Mabel - ( Sara too)”

“Our dog Sam was so spoiled by Maria and her family on his stay. He had such a great time with all the ladies. They are wonderful!! Definitely will keep in contact for any future services. Thank you very much!”

“She is truly amazing. She instantly made me feel at ease leaving our baby. Very communicative, daily updates with photos and videos. She goes above and beyond. Our baby suffers from allergies, and she was great with keeping up medications and updates on symptoms. It was his first birthday not at home with us, and she went out of her way to ensure his day was special and got him special birthday treats. She made him feel comfortable, very loving and truly caring. I can tell she has a big heart, and really has a love for animals, I saw she really cared. It was so nice to see, she eased my mind, especially as I tend to over worry about him, and he was very happy with her as so were we. We would DEFINITELY rebook. I cannot thank her enough for her care, love, attentiveness she had for our baby Guinness.”

“Boarding Charlie at David's place went great. David was communicative throughout, and he was undaunted by Charlie's complicated medicine schedule. He even figured out a new way to get Charlie to take his pills. He also supervised his little kids around Charlie to be sure Charlie didn't get overwhelmed. I'd definitely use him again.”

“Cici was wonderful with Ruby! I had another rover fall through and Cici worker with me to find a solution. We were able to have a very slow and steady meet and greet. It gave Ruby a ton of confidence for the stay. All the updates about how my pup was fitting in with her family were great. She handled the pup well. Would highly recommend”

“Beckie and her family were the perfect home away from home for our high-energy 2yo German Shepherd. She has a beautiful and massive back yard and provided photo updates throughout the stay. We’ll happily trust Beckie with Echo on future trips and highly recommend her!”

“Kenniqua (Kiki) took amazing care of our Gypsy during a recent short vacation. One can tell right away how much Kiki loves dogs, having a beautiful and mild-mannered hound herself! We felt perfectly comfortable leaving our girl in Kiki’s care and will seek out her services again in the future.”

“Jadyn does it again🫶🏽! Our #1 sitter to contact whenever we need a loving, caring, knowledgeable place for our fur baby Beau. About: Hi, I'm Manuela I've had dogs my entire life, and caring for them is truly my passion. I've also volunteered as a foster home for dogs rescued from high-risk shelters, so I have experience with pups from all kinds of backgrounds especially those needing a little extra love and patience. At home, I live with my sweet, spayed female dog named Mocca. She's very friendly and gets along well with others, so your pup will have a built-in buddy to play with and feel at ease around! Whether you're looking for a day sitter or need someone you can trust while you're away, I provide a safe, loving environment where your dog will be treated like family. I also speak Spanish, so feel free to reach out in either language! Looking forward to meeting you and your furry friend! I work from home full-time, so I’m always available to give your dog the attention, care, and companionship they deserve throughout the day. I’m also available to go for a walk or take a trip to the dog park since it’s only 5 min away from home. We also have a fenced yard, giving your pup a safe and secure space to play, explore, and burn off some energy while being safe.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Walker Valley home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Walker Valley.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Walker Valley sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
