Brian was great with my dog! He sent me lots of pictures and updates which put my mind at ease! I was worried about leaving her with a stranger but the pictures of them playing and her chilling out let me enjoy my vacation. Will definitely be calling on Brian again.

Evelina went above & beyond house sitting & watching our 2 cats, 2 dogs, & 2 guinea pigs while we were out of the country for 10 days. She was super communicative & sent photos daily, which really helped put our minds at ease as one of our dogs is a 16 year old basset hound. She even went as far as to wash the bedding in the guest room where she stayed. 12/10 communication. We cannot say enough wonderful things about her. You can tell she does this because she truly loves animals. We’ll definitely be using her again in the future. Thanks for everything, Evelina!

I cannot recommend Casey highly enough! We recently traveled to Toronto for five days, and Casey took phenomenal care of our home, our dog Ellie, and our two cats, Maestro and Norman. Leaving pets behind can be stressful, but Casey gave us a huge peace of mind while we were away. One of our cats was dealing with a chin acne infection that required strict daily attention, and Casey didn't miss a beat. He was incredibly diligent with the care routine—meticulously washing their water bowls every single day and carefully cleaning his chin after every meal. Thanks to Casey's consistent and attentive care, the infection completely cleared up by the time we returned! Beyond the exceptional medical attention and daily pet care, Casey was tremendously respectful of our house. He kept everything perfectly tidy, maintained our pets' normal routines without a hitch, and was highly communicative so we never had to worry. If you are looking for a trustworthy, detail-oriented sitter who genuinely cares about your animals—especially if your pets have special needs or require medical attention—Casey is exactly who you want. Knowing our home and our furry family members were in such capable hands made our trip so much more enjoyable. We will absolutely be booking with him again!

Kendra cared for our 2 large dogs for 5 days. I have a 2 year old Great Dane Mastiff mix and a 12 year old English Mastiff. They both instantly fell in love with her kind nature. My old guy needs daily meds and an eye drop in his eye, Kendra had no issues with that. We came back, our house was clean and well kept. Most importantly our babies were happy and had a great time hanging out with her. Will rebook soon.

As always, Alyssa took great care of my dog Jake during my overnight trip to Denver. I received updates on her arrival and departure, as well as some communications in-between and a photo, all of which are always a great comfort while I'm away. I highly recommend Alyssa as a dog and house sitter and appreciate her good work!

About: Hey there! My name is Dorottya. I've taken care of different kinds of pets since I was a kid and I always seem to be a pet magnet when I visit my friends, they just can't get enough of my cuddles. I've also been known to talk and sing to animals, it makes them happy and sooths them. I believe that creating a comfortable and caring environment while pet owners are away will help bridge the gap between the times they will be together again. No one wants a sad puppy or kitty while pet parents are away. My main options on here are for house sitting and dog walking. I have worked as a nurse for 10 years, so I have a medical background. I work full-time on my own business and typically leave a couple days open to my rover clients. I'm currently working on my own business, and I'm available to pet sit and dog walk a couple days a week from 9 am to overnight when needed. I respect the homes of my clients when pet sitting, or dog walking. I love to tailor the day to fit the individual pet's needs and their schedules for feedings, medications (if pet is taking them), potty, and activities (play time or walking).

Just message me to figure out days and times! I do get booked quick for overnight stays so try to book me quickly:) I unfortunately can not do care for any pets at my house but when coming to your house I will do anything asked to help with your fur baby and make sure they get all the loving I can give!

This was Brody's first time with a petsitter at home. Maura made us feel very comfortable and kept us updated on how he was doing with frequent messages and photos. It was reassuring to know that he was safe and well cared for in the comfort of his own home and that she maintained his usual routine. We're looking forward to being repeat customers!

About: I offer in house boarding So your pet doesn’t have to sleep on a hard floor and be in a kennel. Your pet will be treated as though they are one of my own. If they sleep with you they sleep with me! They are my first priority! Come on out and do a meet and greet! Pet boarding is my biggest priority. Your pet will have all the attention, fun time and proper care they need during their visit no matter how long their visit is. I care for the pets I sit as though their own owner is caring for them. If they have food and water in front of them, 24/7 that will be something that they will have at my facility if they don’t and they have a different regiment that is something they will have in my facility if they have toys, beds, medication at their home that is what i will provide for them as well. If they are, or aren’t allowed on the furniture that is what i will do If they sleep in your bed with you at night they will sleep with me at night. If they go on multiple daily walks, that is what i will do. Your pet will be cared for just the way you care for them.

About: Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to care for several dogs and a cat with a variety of personalities and needs. I’ve cared for a Pitbull mix, Chihuahua, Australian Shepherd, a Terrier mix, and a Maine Coon cat. I’ve also been a pet parent to a Cane Corso/Lab mix, so I’m very comfortable around larger breeds and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and proper care. I’m comfortable giving medications and following specific care routines. I’ve provided medication for pets as well as my own, so I understand how important it is to be reliable and attentive when it comes to health needs. I truly love animals and enjoy getting to know their individual personalities. My goal is to make your pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away — treating them with the same attention and kindness I’d want for my own I am available Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for drop-ins, walks, pet care, and overnight stays. On weekdays, I work Monday–Friday from 8 AM–5 PM, but I am available for early morning visits between 6 AM–7:30 AM for feeding, medication, potty breaks, and walks, as well as evening care from 5:30 PM -8:30 PM I teach yoga on Mondays and Thursdays, so my availability on those days is limited. I’m happy to discuss your pet’s routine and find a schedule that works best. When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I take the time to learn each pet’s schedule, personality, and individual needs, including feeding routines, walks, medication, and any special instructions. I understand that pets can feel stressed when their people are away, so I provide a calm, patient presence and plenty of attention while respecting their home and environment. I’m happy to send updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: Growing up I had a sweet little fur baby named Bruno. He was a pug and my whole life. My family and I loved him so much after rescuing him he lived to be almost 16 years of age! Since then, I spent many weekends dog or cat sitting as well as working at a doggy daycare, called Paws for a brief period of time where I was able to hone in my skills. Daily/weekly pet care comes from observing the comfort and behaviors of each pet. There are a big dog park just around the corner of my apartment as well as a hiking route I love to take dogs to run around with. It's a perfect place to go for a few hours so that your fur babys can have the most fun! Safety and trust are the most important part of having an animal in my home. I want to make sure your fur baby is given everything they need so they can enjoy their time with me. Animals lives are short, and they deserve the best with the time they have.

FAQs for House Sitting - Wakeman

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 366 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wakeman. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wakeman walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wakeman maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wakeman choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wakeman. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
