I have 22 years of dog, cat and other pet care experience to include pet walking, training, transporting, vet visits & pet/house sitting listed in detail below. I'm starting in the job field of Animal Behavior on completion of my college degree. My previous career of 21 years was in oceanography, & I look forward to giving your pet the love and attention they deserve. Experience in DOG CARE: In the last 22 years, on the side of my regular job, I have been trusted by family, friends and new clients via word of mouth to pet sit for canines of all sorts to include senior dogs, dogs with cancer, high energy dogs, shy and nervous dogs, a Great Dane, puppies and multi-pet households. Experience in CAT CARE: I've been cat sitting for 21 years for senior cats, cats with diabetes, cats with swimmer’s syndrome, one cat in a wheelchair, shy cats, active cats, multi-pet households, hairless cats, indoor/outdoor cats, indoor only cats, outdoor only cats & kittens. ADDITIONAL PET CARE: I also have 22 years' pet sitting experience with other pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, fresh water fish, turtles, geese and pigs. In my free time, I've rescued, rehabilitated, trained, fostered and been a pet owner to both dogs and cats in Texas, Virginia, California, Hawaii, Spain and the Kingdom of Bahrain. I have also volunteered at animal rescue and no-kill shelters in all of those places as follows: Humane Society, PAWS of Texas, Hawai'i Bird Rescue, Hawai'i Marine Animal Response, Rota Animal Welfare League Spain, and Bahrain SPCA. I am available for walking, pet/house sitting, pet care, vet visits, pet transportation and moving because I'm a full-time online university student. I have my own reliable transportation to come to you, but I do not have the availability to board animals in my residence at this time. My goal is to keep your pet(s) in their routine with the same worry-free, stress-free care as you have set up for them for walking, pet/house sitting, pet care, vet visits, pet transportation or moving. I have my own transportation and can be there with a days notice. I have plenty of time in my day to tend to your pets needs. I’m also a home-body. About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, and currently have my heart dog! I have a little bit of experience in veterinary science. I am comfortable and confident with any size/breed dog and any age. I currently work part time in a bakery and will need advanced noticed to accommodate my work schedule for your sitting needs. My typical work day is 4am - 12pm or 8-5, so I am willing to request off or work through the sit, whichever you prefer! I provide frequent potty breaks (typically every hour) and play with your babies all day. I also love to let them sleep in bed or on the couch with me.
About: I grew up with pets and have cared for animals as long as I can remember. I've always had a deep bond with them which has led people to trust me with their pets for significant periods of time. I've worked at a cat shelter and volunteered and spent lots of time with animals at the Humane Society, sometimes as a dog walker, other times just sitting with animals that were especially fearful or anxious and comforting them, like Greyhounds that had been rescued from dog tracks. Animals that have strong or negative reactions to people calm around me. I've stayed with cats who won't go near people, but come to me without calling them. Anyone who knows me, knows I will go out of my way to love them, care for them, or just say hi to them. I once had a roommate who, when I would say I needed to tell her something, would say, "Uh-oh, Monique, what kind of animal did you bring home this time?" As a filmmaker, I've also been involved in a web series that documented stories about rescue dogs in the UK and am a long-time vegan of over 3 decades. I have flexibility in my schedule and plenty of time to spend loving on your pets, showering them with attention, and seeing that their needs are taken care of with great love, joy, and warmth. For housesitting, I will stay at your home the entire time (unless you have a different preference). Most pet owners prefer this if they are going to be away for days or weeks at a time, especially for pets that aren't used to being alone for long. I have a lot of experience with special needs dogs and give extra attention and care for any ailments or health issues your pet may have. I'm an actor and entrepreneur, and work mostly from home (aka: wherever I am), so I will be with your pet day and night, other than to errands, have appointments, or when I have rehearsals. I always make sure your dogs have their regular walks (and/or let them out regularly, if there is a backyard). I'm able to spend significant amounts of time with your pets so they don't feel alone and will create an atmosphere of peace and safety. I genuinely love just being with animals. Daily exercise, play, and lots of attention no matter the time of day. You can also count on your home being well taken care of. I treat both your pets and your home as I would my own, which is to say gently and with great care. Sometimes on the first day/night of a petsit, dogs especially can get diarrhea. This is usually because they are feeling anxious as they adapt to a new person combined with anxiety at their owner being away. In my experience, this usually subsides by the second day when they relax and realize they're safe and in good hands.
