About: My relationship with dogs had a slightly questionable start. I was attacked by a dog while sitting in a stroller as a baby and spent the first few years of my life absolutely terrified of them. Then something apparently flipped in my five-year-old brain, because I spent the next year relentlessly begging my parents to let me get one. Eventually they cracked. Enter Prinsen (Swedish for “Prince”) and I've been a dog person ever since. I grew up with dogs and was the kid neighbors would ask to watch theirs. Then during COVID my parents got an AmStaff who somehow turned into a part-time job for me 😂. I lived nearby and watched him basically every day for about five years. Walks, feeding, playtime, hanging out, keeping him out of trouble, the whole deal. Spending that much time with an AmStaff also made me very comfortable around bigger, strong and energetic dogs. These days I have Maverick, my 9-month-old hunting Labrador, who has taken the phrase “high energy” as a personal challenge. Long walks, training, exercise, stubborn puppy moments, random objects appearing in his mouth and trying to tire out a dog with a seemingly unlimited battery are just normal life now. I'm not interested in speed-running a 30-minute visit, checking a box and leaving. If your dog is with me, I'm actually going to hang out with them, play with them, walk them and treat them the way I'd want someone to treat Maverick. About: I spent more than a decade loving a very large, very opinionated German Shepherd named Ruta through epilepsy, severe allergies, endless medication schedules, and his senior years, so “high-maintenance” pets don’t scare me. Give me the quirks, the routines, the medications, the weird little rules, the favorite toy, the thing they absolutely will not do unless you ask them in a very specific way. I want to know all of it. Basically: I take your pet seriously without taking myself too seriously. And yes, I will probably send you too many pictures. My schedule is pretty flexible, which means I can usually work around your pet’s normal routine. Walks, meals, potty breaks, meds, couch hangs; tell me what they’re used to and I’ll do my best to keep things consistent. Tell me everything. What’s their routine? What makes them nervous? Are they an escape artist? A sock eater? Do they lose their mind when a skateboard goes by? How are they on leash? I’m big on respecting a pet’s boundaries and keeping their routine as familiar as possible. I’d much rather know about a quirk or trigger ahead of time than be surprised by it later.

About: I’ve taken care of a large breed dog and a small breed dog for the past 10+ years. I don’t currently have a dog but recently fostered a Greyhound.
