“Jessica and Nick have been watching Sara Mae during the workday for a couple of months now. Sara Mae's DaDa died just this past April and she had to move from a nice home in Charlottesville with a big porch and yard, to live with me in a DC apartment. She is a fairly anxious dog to begin with, and as you can imagine under tremendous stress and depression the past few months, getting sick a lot and not eating, especially when I had to return to work. She went from nearly 65lbs at her healthy weight, to 45lbs in two months. Since staying with Jessica and Nick during the day during the work week, she has started to calm down, is now eating again, and putting weight back on that she had lost due to depression and stress. Jessica and Nick are quite literally life savers, and I cannot thank them enough for easing my mind about Sara Mae and being a huge part of the process of helping her get to a new, healthy, normal while I have to be at work. Your fur babies are in good hands!”

About: I have currently have 2 dogs which I adore so much! I love playing with dogs and love spending time with then and other dogs in my neighborhood on my free time. I wake up early to walk my dogs in the Morning before all my work calls and will take them out again usually at noon after my last call. About: Hi, I'm Val! I'm a lifelong animal lover with decades of experience caring for pets of all shapes and sizes (we were definitely a pet-crazy family!). My sister is a former vet tech (I have learned so much from her and she is still my #1 resource when I have to "triage" anything non-emergent), and I grew up surrounded by animals, so pet care has always felt like second nature to me. I’ve cared for senior pets, administered medications, supported animals with special needs, even raised premature puppies! I’m very attuned to the unique rhythms and cues of each animal I meet. I’m gentle, playful, and intuitive, matching energy levels and always paying attention to what a pet needs in the moment. Whether that means slow movements and soft energy or zoomies and tug-of-war, I show up in a way that helps your pet feel safe, respected, and loved. I also deeply value communication with pet parents. I’ll always ask lots of questions to understand your preferences, routines, and what makes your pet feel their best. You can count on regular photo and written updates during our time together! I’m flexible with scheduling and happy to work with pets who may require more attention on walks together due to triggers, so long as there’s no bite history and we’ve had a proper meet & greet to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable. :) I'm looking forward to meeting your fur fam! I work remotely and have a flexible and self-structured schedule, so I’m thankfully able to build my days intentionally around the things that matter, including pet care! I space out my client sessions to make room for walks, drop-ins, and quality time with the animals I care for. When caring for pets in their home, I’m respectful of their space and routines, and always take the time to understand what helps them feel safe and comfortable. I read behavior cues, match energy levels, and adjust my approach, whether that means calm and slow or playful and high-energy. My youngest can be a handful at times, but Mary is extremely patient, caring, and truly just loves dogs. I received a message from Mary on the second visit that my dog threw up and was not feeling good. She asks me if she can boil chicken breast and rice for him to have something easier on the stomach. This just made me feel good about leaving them in her care and that she had his best interest. She truly wants the best for them.
