Amanda was extremely flexible in drop off/pick up times which was greatly appreciated as we were heading out of town for the weekend. About: I have had a lot of experience with dogs over the years and am just getting started with pet sitting. My priority is providing a safe and caring home for your pup while they are in my care. I currently have a yellow lab mix who loves other dogs. I have some experience with high energy dogs, nervous dogs, giving medicines, and helping finicky dogs eat. I work full time, but have a flexible job that will allow me to let your dog out as needed. Our routine includes three walks a day so I will make sure your pup is exercised. I am home evenings to spend with your dog. Weekends are the best times for me to board and your pup will be sure to get a lovely walk or hike! I lived in the country, so learned fast that the world can be hard for an animal, thus beginning my rehab ‘career’. As I got older, I pet sat for neighbors and family friends. About: I have had pets in my life since the day I was born. I got my first cat when I was 3 and have had many more since then. :) Caring for my pets has become something that I have worked on and improved over the years - and I love meeting new pets! About: Hello! I’m a full-time high school teacher who loves animals… but my own dog passed away last year and for some reason I’m just not ready to get a new one. But I love dogs!! So, in the meantime, I am getting my pet love by dog-sitting. I mostly set this up to do over the summer when I was off work and super flexible, but I’ve decided to keep doing it some—with an emphasis on weekends and public holidays when I’m not at work :) I can do some weekdays, but we’d need to chat about it first. I have gotten a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment out of this so far (which is truly why I’m doing this) and plan to continue this until that stops (or until I decide to adopt a new furry friend who might need most of my attention). I grew up with dogs and have had a variety of breeds, shapes, sizes over the decades. I dog-sat during college and during grad school for friends, professors, and a few strangers I connected with on an older website (I feel like it was called care-dot-com for anyone who’s old enough to remember that). As someone who is a “bit” older, I’m reliable and have very little social life!! Perfect for you and your pet! I’m also super motivated to make your dog as happy as I can! I miss that aspect of having a pet—you take care of them and they keep you sane in this crazy world. Update: During the school year, I’m most available on weekends but can of course provide care in the afternoon and evening on a school/week day… just not as much as I can on a weekend or holiday :) I have a wire fenced yard (not a privacy fence). It’s not the biggest but I’ve also had a smaller yard! There are neighboring dogs, as well, so keep that in mind. As mentioned, no dog at the moment. I’m very careful with dogs in terms of behavior. I was raised to understand that the person is responsible for the dog’s behavior. This means paying attention, shortening the lead when needed, helping the dog feel secure, crossing the street, etc.

Your dog will have the ability to be part of our family and our family pets are on our furniture. We do separate our home animals, fosters and house guests at night. The "regulars" get to sleep in our beds while our guests get other accommodations. It makes for better harmony for us. Because we foster on a regular basis our animals are very used to different dogs coming into our home. Our home is pretty quiet and relaxing.

About: I've been pet-sitting around my neighborhood since I was 10, and grown up alongside dogs, cats, small rodents, and reptiles. I'm far from squeamish, and I love all creatures, even if they are grumpy, irritable, or messy. I volunteer at the ARL in Ankeny! I'm currently in school, but because I'm not taking a full schedule of classes, I can be around your pets multiple times over the school week every day. I have my own car, so I'm able to get where I need to easily. I don't do sports, so I'm free almost every day of the week, save for the occasional band event. My dog is a friendly older dog who is far from aggressive. She lives to sleep and sit in the sun, and is unbothered by even the most hyper of puppies. I have flexible job hours and can work around your schedule. I have a car and am not afraid to drive in inclement weather conditions. With my own cats, I feed them twice per day and give them hours of cuddle time. My experience at animal shelters has given me a lot of experience approaching cats with different personality types.
