About: I've been involved in animal care since I was child. From new born pups needing bottle fed to senior dogs needing meds, I've done it all. I enjoy all animals, but big, active dogs who love exercise and mental stimulation really bring me joy. I've dog sat for Great Danes, Mastiffs, Pitties, I have no problem with size and strength. Special diets, picky eaters, no problem I am an artist and house/pet sitter. I often have sits scheduled months in advance, but sometimes there are empty spots in my schedule that can be filled with a weekend sit or daily check ins. I’m an active person and walking/hiking is always better with a furry companion. I really feel that keeping animals comfortable in their own homes while your away is much less stressful and better for your pet. Missing their humans is stressful enough, keeping them in their environment where they feel safe and connected to their humans means a lot. I understand every household has different culture. I always try and mimic all the rules of the home. Pets not allowed on the couch? no problem. Dogs like to sleep in the bed with owners? I am an expert puppy snugger. Perhaps the best. I will try and reinforce all commands and rules so there is a seamless transition upon your return. When dog-sitting in your home I will leave it better than I found it and happily respect boundaries and house rules. * My property is in Hilo but I am open to sitting at homes all over the island. In fact, I love to! I will text picture updates to my clients so they feel comforted that their sweetheart is being loved on. Why I love dog sitting: I had a Golden Retriever rescue for over 15 years till he passed 10 years ago. I travel a lot and didn't think it was fair to get another dog, but have been pet sitting since. I LOVE having dog energy still around... and the friendships I have made with my puppy parents. For my lifestyle it's the best of both worlds! I work remotely so am very flexible with my schedule and love having pets around to love on while exploring new and interesting locations on this beautiful island. My place is in Hilo but am open to doing pet sit stays all around the Big Island. Initial meeting can be done with a zoom call before meet and greet if too far from my area. I can also do house drop in visits if it coordinates with my location at the time needed. Right now I am primarily house sitting since my property does not have a fenced yard. I will match your schedule as best as possible and take care of your place the way you desire.
About: Was trained by the Southern Oregon Human Society; in a program to take at risk dogs and turn them around into adoptable trained best friends. I love dogs and have grown up with them most my life. I know the proper care and attention they need and sometimes might spoil my own pup a little too much. About: I have had both cats and dogs since I was in Kindergarten. Friends and neighbors have trusted me with their pet care needs for years. I have been on Rover for over 3 years now and am a trusted and reliable sitter. I oftentimes watch senior dogs, some with medical needs. I am very attuned to what animals need and give them tons of love and attention. It is a reciprocal relationship where we both appreciate the company and cuddles. When boarding dogs, my mom also loves dogs and is able to provide them with much love and attention when I need to be at work. She lives in the house and enjoys helping out with our furry guests. Your pet will most likely not be alone for more than an hour. I am very active and enjoy taking dogs on long walks. I always adhere to the pup's acitivity level and age. I have also cared for a neglected pitbull terrier in my old neighborhood. The dog was chained all the time and not cared for. I asked the owners if I could walk him daily. I have removed ticks and groomed him in an effort to provide some much needed attention and TLC. I have sought out medical care for the dog and helped to build a better shelter. I have also worked to educate the family on what it means to be a dog owner and treat the pup like a family member. Dogs just yearn to protect and be close to thier pack (owners). I still walk him to this day even though I no longer live in the neighborhood. The dog can be aggressive with other people and animals but is always affectionate towards me. I had to train the dog how to walk on a leash as it had not been walked in years. At first, the dog was a bit wild and did not know what to do. Now, he can heel and listens to commands. He even sits for some treats! I know how to use caution and practice safety measures when walking the dog so that others and the aggressive dog are kept safe and unharmed. I have a bleeding heart for animals. I am great with animals of all ages, personalities, and fitness levels! I am a social worker and love to give pets as much attention as possible! I am sensitive to their needs and always make sure your pet is comfortable. I treat them as one of my own. I am available to dog-sit/ house-sit or board most dogs as long as they are house trained.
