“We took our fearful little guy, Charlie, to Mariah and Neil’s house as a get- to - know- you- while -Mom- and Dad- are present visit. This was a first venture for our doggie Charlie and us, not a traditional dog-sitting event. We really liked Mariah and Neil. We were impressed with their kindness and awareness in dealing with dogs in their home. We felt they were honest in describing Charlie’s expected behavior in first being boarded with them, and we loved that. We know our dog well enough to know that leaving him in a strange new house wouldn’t immediately (particularly for a fearful dog like Charlie) be all roses and chumminess. We did leave him for about 15 minutes alone with Mariah and Neil (“ fearful parents, not so much fearful dog!”) and Charlie reacted just as Neil and Mariah predicted. Their home feels warm and loving. They have two really adorable pups who are obviously loved and well-adjusted. We would recommend Neil and Mariah as carers and will definitely be trying to book them again soon!”

“My dogs seemed happy & content while staying 2 nights with Halley. She sent lots of photos of them playing, resting, and on walks. She’ll be the one I contact if I need a sitter again!”

“I can't recommend Jacquelyn enough! My senior pup was injured just prior to her stay and had to be given medication and be on restricted movement. Jacquelyn asked questions as needed and provided daily updates. The home itself is really calming, which I'm sure Gertie appreciated. Overall great experience.”

“Outstanding care, a True Dog whisperer. Sequoia Humane Society hired Mark to care for Browner an d Odie over the Thanksgiving holiday - Two large dogs! Both are known to struggle with other dogs, including each other. I was honestly preparing for this to simply be a safe, calm stay...what we got was something truly incredible. From the very beginning, Mark asked all the right questions about behavior, needs, routines and safety. It was clear he understood these were not "easy" dogs and approach their care with thoughtfulness, patience and professionalism. I encouraged him to try socializing them only if he felt right about an opportunity. To our complete surprise, Brownie and Odie became best friends almost immediately in his care. This is something we have not been able to achieve in a shelter environment and seeing that transformation was nothing short of amazing. This experience has opened new doors for both dogs and given us real hope for their future success in foster and forever homes. Both dogs had the time of their life in Mark's care. We are grateful for his kindness and opening his home to our animals during Thanksgiving and the day after. As Executive Director of Sequoia Humane Society, I can confidently say I would trust him again and without hesitation recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional caregiver for your animals...especially dogs!”

About: Hi! I have working around and with dogs and cats for most of my life, my grandma worked with fosters/rescues and at the Animal Shelter during my childhood and with the experience I have a very good understanding of how to handle most animals and provide them with love and care. I also have a 5 year old Border Collie who keeps me very busy, him and I spent 3+ years in intensive training (positive reinforcement only). This experience in training has helped me to understand cues, reactions and how to redirect with many different breeds of dogs. Thanks for checking out my profile, I’d love to help out with your pups and kitty’s!

“Dani has cared for my cats multiple times and takes excellent care of them. Dani is experienced, very caring to our cats and is sure to send frequent updates and photos to me while I’m away. I have total confidence in Dani which makes leaving home much easier.”

“This is our second time booking with Ember. We left confident our beloved pets were in good hands. We have a special needs cat, and she is very kind and patient with him. She is professional, attentive, punctual, and quickly replies to our messages. If you are looking for a pet sitter, we highly recommend Ember.”

“Alexandra and Kelsey were so incredible, i would book them again in a heartbeat! They were amazing with our three cats, and very attentive with our 19yo cat, who requires frequent small feedings because of his age. When we got back it looked like he put on some weight which is wonderful! They were so helpful with caring for our home, took care of packages and kept us updated, and our house looked cleaner than when we left it. Communication was incredibly fast and clear from beginning to end. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing our kitties and home were so well taken care of 💚 Thank you guys so much!!!”

“Celia sent at least one photo every check-in, and was very professional and communicative. The questions she asked before confirming our booking helped show that she's an experienced, reliable pet-sitter. All this gave me much better peace of mind leaving my kitties with a new sitter for over a week!”

“Beans and Bits love their buddy Bailey! She is a caring and thoughtful sitter who always takes great care of our kitties. I highly recommend Bailey as a Rover and would definitely book with her again!”

About: I’ve always had a deep love for cats and an appreciation for their independence and unique personalities. Growing up, I was drawn to their quirky traits and how every cat’s behavior is so distinct. During high school, I volunteered at a no-kill animal shelter where I had the privilege of caring for cats and other animals. My responsibilities included feeding, cleaning, and spending quality time with them to ensure they felt safe and loved. While I enjoyed working with all the animals, cats were always my favorite because of their fascinatingly diverse personalities. From playful and curious kittens to calm and reserved seniors, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how to care for and bond with cats of all temperaments. Whether it’s providing a safe and stimulating environment, respecting their boundaries, or giving them extra cuddles when they’re feeling affectionate, I’m committed to ensuring every cat feels happy and secure in my care.

About: I've had lots of cats as roommates over the years and have done extensive house sitting for folks with cats. Every animal has their own personality and character and I just try to follow their lead, meet them where they're at and let them get to know me at their pace. For the past few years I have house sat and cared for a family with two cats for about 2 months each winter, as well as shorter stays throughout the rest of the year.

Perfect for high energy dogs - Manila
Prices are estimates per day for 1 dog. Pricing may vary based on your search and includes a booking fee of 11%.
“I would definitely recommend Mariah and Neil for pet sitting. Let’s face it little dogs are sometimes a little more high maintenance. They really seem to understand small dog behavior, which I appreciate! They are great communicators and are fast at responding, which is so helpful. Thank you for letting my pup stay.”

“Mary was great! She was able to take our last minute booking and patiently worked with introducing our anxious dog to hers. She even kindly let our toddler chat with her about everything toddlers chat about (bugs he saw, how he likes the beach and halloween, letters, Spiderman, etc.) when he wanted to come pick up his pup and say hello.”

About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.
“Whitney was super flexible with us and was great at communicating while we did some non-dog friendly hikes. Will definitely trust her again with our Luna any time we visit the area.”

About: Hi, I’m Virgo (formerly Jeremy)! I’ve been dog sitting my friends’ dogs for about 10yrs, and working for a dog trainer for about 2yrs. (My parents tell me I’ve loved dogs my whole life, but I can only partly confirm.) A few things I like about dog sitting is discovering their personalities and learning how to interprete and anticipate their needs. I’m not intimidated by high-energy/high-intelligence dogs either! I like the challenge of keeping up with them. It also tricks me into staying active and feels less ridiculous than Zumba. 🤷🏽♂️ If there’s anything else you wanna know just ask? Uhh, this thing says I’ve gotta write 50 more words to move on so I’m just gonna keep typing stuff until the limit runs out I guess? I’m a substitute teacher, so my schedule is highly flexible! I try not to schedule subbing jobs during engagements, but they overlap seamlessly when it does happen. I live alone with a fully enclosed backyard and space for a crate if needed! I prefer to sit in the pet’s home though because I like to keep your pet’s routine and environment familiar to make them most comfortable!
“Karen and her husband watched our high energy dog for the weekend. We can't thank them enough for their kindness to our fur baby. I would recommend Karen in the future. Wonderful pet sitter. Can't thank her enough!”

About: With over 9 years of experience, I’ve worked with all kinds of pets—from puppies and older dogs to cats, rodents, and even birds. I’m skilled in administering medications and providing personalized care, no matter the breed or age. Growing up with a variety of animals, I’ve developed a deep understanding of their needs. My patience, knowledge, and love for all animals set me apart, ensuring your pets are not only cared for but truly comforted. Pet care is my top priority, and I’m available almost full-time to meet your needs. I’m only busy two days a week, so the rest of my time is dedicated to providing focused, attentive care for your pets. With a flexible schedule, I’m ready to ensure your pets are well-cared for whenever you need! Most of my services are provided in my clients’ homes, where pets are comfortable in their own space. I offer drop-ins and dog walks, ensuring pets get the attention and exercise they need. While I don’t have a yard, I live in a pet-friendly community with great walking spots, and I’ll take dogs out every 1-2 hours for bathroom breaks and exercise. For boarding, I’d follow the same routine, offering regular walks and playtime. If clients have a fenced yard, I make full use of that space for outdoor activities and fun.

About: I've had dogs my entire life so I have experience with dogs of all ages. I currently have a dog and two cats, and I'm also trusted in my neighborhood and amongst family and friends as someone to watch their animals when they're gone. Im a full time college student but I usually always have my own animals in my bedroom with me, sitting under (or on top of) my desk while I work. I have a friendly dog who absolutely loves play dates, so your dog would never get bored. My backyard is quite large so the dogs have tons of room to run around and play. The fences are regularly checked for holes under them to ensure our dog can't get out. I also have two large cat cages in my home where each of my cats sleep, but if needed, they can sleep in the same cage and the other one can be used to provide your pet some privacy, with their own food and water dishes. I have many many many interactive cat toys so even while i'm working, they can play with the toys that are attached to my desk and walls, along with scratching posts.
“Stari was communicative and professional for our doggy daycare visit. I can tell Chappell was well taken care of. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stari to another pet owner!”
“Lucy was awesome. She sent me pictures so I could see how echo was doing and kept an eye on him. I was a little disappointed that he wasn't happier to see me when I came to pick him up lol but I guess that's a good thing XD he seemed to have had a great time. She was very welcoming and her dog is super friendly. 10/10 I would highly recommend her and if I'm in need of a dog sitter again I will definitely be sending her a message.”

About: I genuinely just love animals so much, which is why I decided to join rover! I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life and volunteered many hours at my local humane society. I am very responsible and attentive, I will keep your animals safe and happy! I have a dog of my own who is a social kween when it comes to dogs, kids, and pretty much every person she ever meets! My dogs name is tuna, she is a sweet pug. Tuna and I spend most of our days outside adventuring, so hopefully we can meet some new friends! I have some animal medical knowledge under my belt as well, my close friend is a veterinarian. I’m hoping to have a career that involves animals so this is a great start for me! I also love cats! :)
About: I've had large dogs since 1997. Currently I have 2 amazing dogs. A 3 legged great burnese, and a 1.2yr old burnese Mt. Dog. They are sweet and wonderful dogs with great manners and are super dog friendly. I also have 2 cats. Rick and Morty. They are a pair. Also very sweet and affectionate once they know you. They are indoor/outdoor 24/7 but avoid dogs. The love of my furry friends reflects who I am. I have 5 acres. This allows my dogs to mostly roam free as they stay close to home. It gives other dogs the opportunity to have a place to run around and play with other good dogs. There are also multiple leads amongst the property, as well as a gated and covered outside area if your pet isn't used to either of those situations. I spend almost all of my days working from home. So other than the occasional errand, I'm home. Otherwise, I exist for you and yours. My pets have water and food at all times. It's under a covered area so they are able to stay in the shade if they like. Otherwise my dogs are free to roam as they generally stay on the property. My property is not fenced. However with this undertaking dogs can be placed in the covered area when needed. They can be leaded if that's what you want. As well they are welcome in the house at any time. Your pets are free to relax anywhere they like. My dogs are very sweet and friendly. My 3 legged dog is not one to get to excited as he only has 3 legs. For the right dogs, my property is a paradise.
About: I’m a Lauren Wendt’s wife and will be available to work with her clients when she is away for field work. Her clients can expect the same level of care and comfort with me. I am only available to sub for her. I mostly work from home, and when covering for Lauren I will be available all day, except during times when I can coaching at the university (Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons). Our home is very large, with multiple rooms and kennels to give dogs private safe spaces as well as communal time. We also have. Very large fenced yard, and dogs will be supervised in the yard.
About: I have always been an animal lover. Since my teenage years we had dogs and cats in the house. Over the last 17 years I have lived with and cared for 2 dogs and two cats. Sadly 3 of them have passed on at this point, and It's just myself and my 12 yr old husky mix Suki now. I am only employed on a very part time basis, so I have a fairly open and flexible schedule for dog walking, home visits and boarding on most weekdays, and some weekends. I have a fenced back yard perfect for pets to hang out in, and there is also a covered area in the back yard if the weather is rainy. I would also allow them inside the house, but not on furniture :). I am a very active person, I walk my own dog at least twice a day, and would be happy to walk even more with yours!
“I was so happy to find Paulina after my last Tahoe Rover friend left the area! It can be difficult to find someone without a dog themselves, and my dog LOVES people but is dog selective so we prefer her to be the only pet staying. Paulina thank you for being super flexible and having great communication and response time. Bella came back tired and happy. I will definitely be reaching out for more stays this winter and am looking forward to having you watch Bella again this weekend!”

“I was visiting from out of town and needed someone to keep my puppies while I attended a private dinner. Mark was very communicative and flexible with me and I appreciated his time set aside for my babies. His yard was safe and well maintained. I highly recommend Mark!”

“Marlen was fantastic--responsive, a clear communicator, and obviously very experienced and knowledgable about dogs. I felt totally confident while Jade was with her that Jade was having a great time. I will definitely be a repeat client. I highly recommend Marlen.”

“Simon has loved waking/running with Scott. Scott handles our dog well- at almost 5 years old Simon can pull me off of my feet. Simon sleeps better and is better behaved when he has exercised. We don’t have a fenced yard and the hours walk has improved Simon’s stamina. We are so happy to have found Scott.”
“Dani has been extremely reliable. She gets the job done with no fuss no muss! It is really nice to have a trustworthy, regular dog walker who is great with my pooch and communicates just the right amount! Thanks Dani!”
About: I have been surrounded by animals for most of my life and I love to help them live their best lives! I studied pre-veterinary biology for two years, so I know about the science behind animals as well as understanding their basic care and needs. I am very good at matching the energy level of any animal and I have a special passion for exotic animals (but of course I love dogs and cats too!). I am experienced in giving medication and I do not shy away from cleaning up any and all messes that they may make. I am currently a student at Cal Poly Humboldt and I have a lot of breaks in my class schedule. For house sitting, I would only be out of the house for 2-4 hours at a time for classes on weekdays and would be able to stay all day on weekends. My schedule is also perfect for drop ins and potty breaks. I feel that I am a very easy person to work with and I will follow any and all guidelines or rules that you present to me. I will also help with house cleaning if you would like that, in addition to cleaning up after your pet(s).
About: Animals have always been a part of my life and family. I find a lot of joy in caring for them and appreciate the reciprocal relationship that develops with them over time. No matter what mood I’m in, my interactions with animals often leave me in a positive state of mind. I work full time, Mon-Fri from 8-4:30. Any time outside of this I am happy to work doing sitting or walking, and I’m open to staying overnight. I can be somewhat flexible with your needs. I am looking to supplement my income, but also just really enjoy having animals in my life and can’t have them in my own home. My landlord does not permit animals in the building, so I would have to come where your animals are. I can either walk a dog from your home, stop by for feedings , or house-sit as needed.
About: I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes and ages, as well as animals that take daily medication. I’m very good when it comes to applying the owners needs with consistency and lots of attention for their pets. I babysit part time and I have dog sitting clients outside of Rover as well. My schedule is very flexible and so it’s easier for me to meet new clients and their pets! I always make sure to ask my clients if there’s any additional info that I need to know. I’m a very aware and attentive person, that’s why I keep a good eye on the pets body language and everyday needs. Keeping up with their schedule is another important detail to me.
About: I've been taking care of animals including wildlife and exotic species for over 5 years. I take care of my cats every day with assistance from my mom when I'm out of the house; I also do Petsitting and dog walking on a weekly basis. I work full time and do this as a supplement to my income, and to spend time getting to know your pets! I follow instructions carefully, including medication administration needs; I introduce myself to animals slowly and with lots of positive reinforcement to create a healthy relationship. I listen to owner's needs regarding their animal and do my best to be flexible.

About: I have experience working at a vet office, and worked dogsitting overnights and drop ins throughout my college career. I've had animals my whole life, including dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, and even horses, but I have a special place in my heart for dogs, and have one of my own who is one of the loves of my life! I'm happy to drop in multiple times per day around my work schedule (I work from home 9am-5pm) and I have an hour lunch which I use to visit dogs (or really any other animals) on my lunchtime rounds. If your dog needs help learning to socialize, my dog may be the perfect match, he is very easygoing and always eager to make a new friend. We go to the dog park frequently and he is used to playing with small dogs as well as some bigger breeds. I have experience with animals large and small, and I have a horse so giant breeds are still a breeze. I'd love to meet you and your pets! I have an open schedule for drop in visits and walks, and am available most weekends. Whether you are looking for a daily dog walker or a vacation sitter, I can help. I believe each pet requires an individual approach so that they are comfortable and happy during our visits. I strive to figure out what the pet needs to feel comfortable early on during our meet and greets so that I can keep them healthy and happy while you’re gone.
About: I’ve taken care of my 2 dogs for 12 years. I grew up having 2 dogs and a cat to take care of at the same time, all different ages and breeds. I’m really into all animals and love just being able to be around them and meeting new ones. On my free time I volunteer at the Sequoia Park Zoo as well. I currently have a pretty open schedule. I definitely can accommodate and am open and flexible to working with your schedule as much as you need. I’ve been home alone a lot with my 2 dogs and had to raise them and a cat, so I talk and hang out quite a lot with pets when I’m around them. I really love petting animals as it gives me just as much enjoyment as it does them.

I look forward to meeting your furry family member and providing them with a loving home away from home! I have a flexible schedule, allowing me to provide full-time attention to your dog. Whether they enjoy daily adventures or a relaxing routine at home with neighborhood walks, I’ll tailor my care to suit their preferences. Your dog’s happiness and comfort are my top priorities. I believe in providing consistency and structure to help dogs feel safe and secure. Meals, medications, and walks will happen on a reliable schedule, and I’ll make sure your pup is cozy and comfortable at bedtime. For younger dogs, I enjoy working on basic commands to keep them engaged and mentally stimulated. For seniors, I focus on their comfort, with shorter walks and plenty of relaxation time.

“My dogs were comfortable with Jessie and I appreciated her flexibly about drop off and pick up times. Her photos and welfare updates were great especially since this was my first time leaving my girls overnight for two nights. I would want Jessie’s help again next time I plan more exploration of the great outdoors in the Humboldt county area.”
